I have the Hastings set. Beautiful and fun to play with. I only wish they made it slightly smaller for the regulation 55mm board. 3.5" king height would have been perfect for such a bulky set!

Knight is a huge deal for me when picking a Staunton set. So Hastings set would be a no brainer, but when I search for its wooden piece, it looks much better specifically the Rook and Bishop, even their heights is gradually decreasing unlike the height of Knight and Rook here where it's almost the same, the downside is they're always expensive.

Really enjoyed this. I have each of these sets, but have never done a comparison like you have done so well here. My biggest issue with various sets are under-sized queens and especially rooks. The HOS Reykjavik wood set suffers from this, but not so much in their plastic version. Overall, my favorite plastic set is the Ultimate set and would be interested in your opinion of it. Keep up the great work!

Your passion for chess is moving and your videos are great and I could listen to you go on at length. And I do. 😁 You make me want to buy a bag and go to the park but I'd end up playing myself ☺️ so I'll just stay home and play with stockfish on the chessup board I recently acquired a roll up board and they're really nice to have for evaluating positions and practicing openings I love the size. I think it's great that you are gifting chess sets. I gave my old board to my friend who I play all the time instead of retiring it to a box and I agree that it makes a great gift. Thanks for the videos.

I wish they would buff out the plastic seams on the pieces, so you at least get the illusion it's one solid heavy piece. It couldn't add more than a few dollars to the cost of the whole kit.

Yup. I buy 4-5 at a time from USCF and need to order a new batch. I’ll look at HOS. Plus I plan on forming a chess club at my church so need to figure out how to get 12 full club sets with clocks. Thank for your videos.

I like the Bishop in the Hastings set. The Bishop's hat is bigger and fatter. I like that. I don't really care about the cut (I never notice it while playing).
