The truth is that in this chapter I do not understand Rhaenyra, she wants to bring peace after she has been removed from the throne and has been humiliated since she had Asus children, what was she saying to Daemon in chapter 1x7, I cannot alone with them greens I need you and now that daemon realizes that the throne has been taken from his wife what is the first thing he does to look for allies reinforce dragontons in case they attack them and she starts to fight with him because she thinks she can do things better than him that is why it is the anger of daemon who sees in her a viserys 2.0 he knows that the hightowers have been the problem from the beginning that daemon told viserys I will protect you from anyone but that is what hurts daemon realizing that viserys I never trust him if daemon he has never been a character neither good nor bad to him the only thing that matters to him is to protect his family I know that what he did to rhaenyra was not right but that is what bothers him to see that rhaenyra be like viserys who lets himself be manipulated by others

Bonds between dragons and their riders were shown in this episode, highlighting what goes beyond. Rhaenyra’s painful childbirth was also felt by Syrax. Aemond’s core was chaotic mirroring Vhagar’s behaviour, while Luke was threatened, stressed out and battling to compose himself, aligning how Arrax was functioning. Also, these dragons aren’t slaves, they react to various stimuli, they fight or choose flight. Daenerys pointed this out, as she struggled at times to control Drogon.

Then she had 3 kids with Daemon; Aegon, Viserys and Visneya (the stillborn baby in this episode) Also, Daemon was Viserys´ heir for 10 years before he made Rhaenyra heir instead. The fact that he never told Daemon about the prophecy speaks to what he thought Daemons suitability for rulership.

I love the way Daemon stares at the Targaryen emblem on the crown, as if until that very moment, he didn’t truly realize Viserys was gone. Like he was remembering picking up the crown as he helped Viserys to the Throne, as if it had just happened. A sorrowful stare of fear, guilt and sadness.

@@unbowedqueen I would say it’s pretty canon… Drogon didn’t listen to Dany in the books as much as he did in the show. In the fifth book when he flies into the fighting pits he pretty much almost kills her before she grabs a nearby whip and starts yelling at him. He also doesn’t listen to her commands after that, and she’s barely eating the scraps of burnt meat left on the bones of the animals he eats and she eventually wanders off and gets found by the Dothraki. I would hardly call that a show-only thing 🤷‍♀️

@@nevaehaho61 Its not that straightforward. Drogon was basically almost a wild dragon at that point. Its important to remember that Dany had no idea or help on how to raise dragons. And there was no one left in the world at that time who knew either. These dragons in HotD have been trained since birth by the guys in the dragon pit who clearly know exactly what they're doing and were brought over from Valyria before the Doom. Also if dragons disobeying riders is a common thing you would imagine the riders would be warned about it. I wouldn't take what Viserys said as complete fact. He clearly didn't enjoy dragons and their company and as a peaceful man it is easy to see why he's disenchanted with dragons.

I know some people were saying Daemon was acting out of character when he strangled Rhaenya, but we have to remember he joyed in the initial mutilations when we was the commander of the gold cloaks and then killed his wife with a rock after paralyzing her. Daemon is a rash and aggressive man, and I think Rhaenya talking about The Song of Ice and Fire pushed him as he was never told about it by Viserys which just showed Daemon he was never going to be his successor.

He is not supposed to be a one-dimensional villain or straight up evil, but a grey character. He is equally as good as he is evil and that's what makes his character so great.

As far as Daemon is concerned, Viserys, Nyra and those kids are his family. He doesn’t give a fuck about the Hightowers or people who share their blood. So yes, daemon loves the people he considers family. And to him, especially after stealing the throne, those other kids aren’t family.

Technically Vermithor doesn't count as "wild" since he had a previous rider. Vermithor, Silverwing, and Seasmoke are all riderless but not wild. The 3 wild dragons are Cannibal, Sheepstealer, and Grey Ghost.

The dragon which Daemon visited is Vermithor. It was the dragon of Jaehaerys (the King from the Intro in the first episode). Vermithor is the second largest and oldest dragon after Vhaegar and his nickname is the bronze fury.

Vermithor is a powerful dragon but he is the 4th biggest at this point. The Cannibal and Sheepstealer are bigger, but those are wild, untamed dragons ( they're living somewhere in the caves on Dragonstone). The 2th biggest and oldest dragon is Cannibal who is a badass and looks very similar to Balerion, he's black and menace... Vermithor and Cannibal are dragons I am waiting for 🔥🐉

The last scene is like a moving painting. The imagery and symbolism keep me awake at night. That shot of rhaenerya losing it and slowly moving while looking at the fireplace looks like a dragon skull breathing fire. In essence it’s rhaenerya breathing out her rage and fury. The way her arms are bent look like the eyes of the skull, top of her dress dragon horns and that white hair, the spikes that run down the dragons back. Truly mesmerising

I think the reason why they showed Syrax roaring while Rhaenyra was giving birth was to show how the dragons feel the pain that their riders feel (eg. Caraxes screaming when Daemon is shot with an arrow in episode 3). I'm certain that in the book when it described her birth it mentions that Syrax was heard roaring the whole time along with her.

Dragon dreams have always been nightmares and prophecies of doom. Doom of Valyria, Song of Ice and Fire, beast beneath the boards, Aegon wearing the conquerors crown. Viserys thought his was a good omen that he would finally have a son but it was dire warning of doom. It was a nightmare about his son stealing the crown and throne which caused a massive war that almost destroys House Targaryen, his family and the realm. His son was never supposed to sit on that throne and the Hightowers were never supposed to rule

You can't really blame Vhagar after she was attacked - she's fought in literally 100s of battles and likely went straight into "defend my rider" mode even if she wasn't going to simply act out to show she's the top of the food chain. The dragon that Daemon approaches is Vermithor who was last ridden by King Jaehaerys. He's also one of the older ones being nearly 100 years old and I believe the largest after Vhagar. I absolutely love him, he is actually very tolerant of people approaching him due to being used to riders and is a relatively easy dragon to claim. Very adorably he coils with a female dragon called Silverwing who is described as being flat out friendly to people. *_The largest and older dragons at the moment are:_* *Vhagar* - Around 181 and huge as we saw. Arrax was freaked out by the storms, constant commands, and being cornered by a dragon five times his size. Vhagar was ticked off by the fire coming out. The riders were no longer in control when they entered the skies together. Lucerys was the casualty of dragon instinct and impulses. Arrax got himself killed.

Rhaenyra is a goddamn queen. She lost her father, her throne, had a miscarriage cuz of the stress, delivered the baby by herself, had to keep her insane husband from going on a grief stricken warpath of death and lost one of the children she raised who was just a scared child when he died which is horrible and tragic. I just really feel for Rhaenyra :( Daemon acted as predicted except for the choking scene...literally dont know what the hell that was. She was trying to explain to him something about their history he didn't know, someone who spent nights reading about their family's history wouldn't want to know more about it. Not to mention the show has beaten us over the head with the fact that daemon loves exactly 2 people in the world. Rhaenyra and Viserys and she's all he has left besides his children. You could tell he was upset and grieving in his own way. I fully expected him not to be around for the birth because his paranoid mind would literally want to do all he can to secure Rhaenyra. I think it bothered him she wasn't as angry as he was. Also the fact he was heir for 10 years and wasn't told about something that heirs hear about. Which means Viserys didn't actually think of him ever as his true heir. Something he now can't even be mad at Viserys for so Rhaenyra is the next best thing... I guess maybe is what the writers were going for? Emma and Matt my hats off to them. Originally when I heard Matt Smith was playing Daemon. one of the koolest Targaryens and GRRM favorite I was like "oh no he's too awkward and goofy as hell" ....(doesn't help i first saw him in Diary of a call girl with Billie Piper whom I adore. Then saw him in doctor who but I never finished the first season with him I think I made it maybe halfway.) but I'll be the first to say how wrong I was. He has knocked it out of the park.

I believe the longest a dragon is with a single rider...the deeper the bond (Daemon speaks almost telepathically with Caraxes and Syrax was feeling Rhaenyra's pain during childbirth)...which is why both Aemond and Lucerys don't have enough of a control over their dragons...i definitely believe since Arrax was placed as an egg in Lucerys's crib; with enough time; they would've been as close as Daemon and Rhaenyra are with theirs...but not aemond with Vhagar since she had 3 riders; plus Aemond; in her lifetime.

I thought Daemon choking Rhaenyra was a brilliant and deliberately shocking way to highlight the idea that Dragons are never fully tame. Daemon is 100% Targaryen, a dragon in human skin. His blood and bone is fire and chaos made flesh. I feel Rhaenyra understands this because she doesn’t admonish him or scream for help. Shes not even angry. She’s just surprised that Daemon knew nothing about the Song of Ice & Fire and likely understands for Daemon the fact that his brother didn’t consider him a truly worthy successor is a festering wound on his soul that no sane person should poke. I just feel it’s a deeper moment than just an abusive act.
