the sex scenes were done very well and showed the pleasure of a woman well, they switched back and forth between the constrast of Rhaenyra's night compared to Alicent's, who was lonely tending to babies and basically imprisoned in a castle, who has to please the King whenever he wants. Meanwhile, Daemon shows and tells Rhaenyra how sex is meant to be pleausrable for the woman just as the man, something Alicent has not got to experience and may never not experience as she does not actually love the King. That's why Alicent was a bit angry at learning about the gossip of Rhaenyra's night, she's envious of the freedom Rhaenyra gets to experience.

I totally agree and I felt like Milly was, somehow protected (hopefully) having a female director. I forgot the name but the director said that she intended to show the woman's POV on those kind of scenes, which is just right for the episode coz it's all about Rhaenyra at this point.

@@athenstar10 Alicent's actress spoke about this. She was only 17 (and is 19 now) when she was cast. She had a lot of apprehension going into a show knowing there would be sex scenes, but the director and intimacy coordinator put her at ease. She also mentions that Paddy (Viserys) was also very supportive.

Someone on twitter wrote something intresting about the Criston Cole sex scene, he looks at his Kinsgaurd cape midway which shows that while he is undertaking pleasure he also has given up his pride and everything he has worked for and feels guilt over breaking his vows. While he may care for Rhaenyra she sees him as an "experience" to provide what Daemon did not

Daemon wants to ruin Rhaenyra reputation so no one would want to marry her, therefore Viserys would be forced to wed her to him. It's basically forcing Viserys hands. He took off their hoods so that people could see them and what they were going to do. It's basically a power play on his behalf

Daemon is cunning but also incredibly self-destructive at the same time. He tried to bring things with Rhae to a point where Viserys would be forced to allow a Targ style marriage. But at the last minute he couldn't go through with the consummation out of "shame" (according to the showrunner/writer). So he arrived the conquering hero and left banished again a few days later. These people need therapy in the worst way and none needs it more than Daemon.

I think Daemon used Otto knowing that Otto has spies at the pleasure house where Otto spied on him in the first episode and knowing that viserys would choose family over Otto and intended to use Rhaenyra but couldn’t follow through with it because he actually has feelings with her and she seemed to be enjoying what was happening. So he couldn’t get in the mood because he felt guilty then left and got really drunk because of how he felt.

This is not a spoiler, i just want to clarify, it is shown in this episode you guys must have missed it. The "white worm" that the guard meant when talking to otto is lady mysaria, she is now an infornant to ser otto. There was a scene where the boy spotted rahaeneyra and directly informed mysaria and then she instructed the boy to inform otto. Also the daemon part where he couldn't do it, is because he is conflicted by her feelings to rahaeneyra, she brought her into the brothel was his plan to shame rahaeneyra's reputation and so ahe could wed her instead.

I don't think he would oppose Daemon and Rhaenyra being wed, if Daemon wasn't already married. I believe the 2nd wife thing hasn't been thing for a while either. Imo he's not "un-targaryen" he's just very different from Daemon.

King Jaeherys, the king before Viserys, made peace with the faith in which the Targayens stopped having multiple wives but were allowed to continue their incest practices.

Daemon conspired with his former “wife” to instruct the kid to feed Otto the story. The kid was outside of the pleasure house and never witnessed anything, as we see him notice his cue to leave his seat once he sees the princess leave. It was a plan devised by Daemon for the purpose of convincing Viserys to wed the two of them (initially for the purposes of attaining the throne but now perhaps because he may have realized that he does have feelings for her). Whether he knew the plan would put Otto’s job at risk is unclear but my best guess is yes since Daemon knows how protective Viserys is of family and knows that he has been getting pressure to name Otto’s grandson as the next heir. In other words, he knows Viserys has likely been growing skeptical of Otto, and that hearing this news from him could tip the scales in favor of his ouster. Otto had no idea that the story came from Daemon or that the kid was working with/for Daemon’s whore. Otto simply placed too much faith in the incorruptibility of his sources. Remember, Daemon still has strong ties to people throughout the city (i.e. the city watch, as we see in the scene where the princess is running and is stopped by a guard) and so the fact that his whore is able to operate under Otto’s nose is unsurprising. The irony here is that the one time we see Otto being genuine in his intentions when dealing with or giving info to the king, the king does not trust him. Ultimately, despite Otto’s many flaws, I’d say it’s yet another example of the Viserys’ poor judgment, not Otto’s and I’d say it’s another win for Daemon as he essentially played everyone like a fiddle. Daemon took what he wanted this episode, regardless of the rules/norms/expectations, just like he did last episode when he faked the surrender to lure everyone out of the caves. My guess is that after that victory he realized that the only way he will attain the throne is if he says fuck it and does whatever (or whomever) he wants and/or is necessary. If that means marrying his niece, so be it. *also, he did it in public so it would be seen

First of all, Alicent wasn't banging her dad. She was essentially being sexually assaulted. And the scene switching between Alicent and Viserys, and Rhaenyra and Daemon represents the duality between a woman stuck in a forced marriage, and a woman who is realizing (and enjoying) her sexual freedom. At least that's how I interpreted it. Love watching your guys' reactions to this series so far, but also wanted to give my two cents.

She thinks he’s acting more mature; he notices she has matured, too, after the four years since they last saw each other. She can’t be 17. She was fifteen at the second episode (as stated by her father). Then three years passed (Aegon was turning two, plus nine months of pregnancy, and a little more to plan the wedding and actually get pregnant) and Alicent was about to give birth last episode, but now she has a baby. It’s been at least a few months to a year (clearly there was time spent away hearing suitors), so Rhaenyra has to be at least eighteen, most probably nineteen. Also, I’m not sure but I remember Viserys said she was “of age” last episode during the hunt. Yeah, wrong, but not within the context, specially for a medieval based fantasy universe where people were considered adults and were being wed at 13.
