Man you guys talked over so many important scenes especially Alicent's entry scene which is a turning point for the show. That whole wedding scene is important and the conversations going on are also important. We saw all of Rhaenyra's guys here, Alicent taking a side, Daemon getting a plan B replacement in Laena, House Royce, House Velaryon being crucial role for future asscension, the "Strong" brothers on opposite sides with one being a warrior and other a manipulator. I hope in future you'll watch the show with concentration instead of talking over the dialogues.

With royals you don't technically take the last name of your spouse, you would keep your family name. Nobles take their spouse's family name though like Catelyn Tully became Catelyn Stark but Cersei didn't become Cersei Baratheon when she married Robert because he's king, she remained Cersei Lannister. Alicent isn't a Targaryen, she's Alicent Hightower but their children will be the names of their father Here, Viserys was basically saying that Rhaenyra's child who sits on the throne after her will be known as a Targaryen and any other children can have the name Velaryon. When Joffrey became king in Game of Thrones, him choosing to acknowledge his mothers house which was Lannister along with Baratheon was a pretty big deal.

Why is Rhaenyra obligated to be truthful to Alicent? When has Alicent ever been truthful to her? Lol about seeing viserys and knowing Otto wants Aegon to be the heir over rhaenyra. Daemon taught rhaenyra that she can have fun when married and because she couldn’t have sex with daemon she settled for Cole. You have to consider she was drunk as well. Writers also confirmed daemon didn’t want to use rhaenyra to get back at his brother so he was feeling guilty and couldn’t get it up for that reason.

Alicent is such a hypocrite. Rhaenyra didn’t lie to her about Daemon but Alicent kept her relationship with Viscerys quiet until she was proposed to. Alicent wearing the green dress to the wedding showed that she chose her family over her own husband and king and the Targaryens. I’m team Rhaenyra all the way and I’m definitely team Daemon. His wife didn’t want to live because she was paralyzed so she goaded Daemon into killing her. Remember that Ser Harwin Strong is the man that rescued Rhaenyra when the fight went down at the end. The GOT universe really hates weddings!
