I hope the story doesn't get too complicated . I had to force myself to keep watching Game of Thrones. The huge pause in production made me loose some interest. This series seems, more focused because we have some "future back story" regarding the families . We all know who is capable of what. A fun ride 🤣

Some Targaryen history you may find interesting - Rhaenyra’s suggestion to Daemon has an actual precedent in their family history. Her great-grandparents King Jaeharys and Queen Alysanne were siblings. Their mother actually forbade them to marry cos they just resolved the religious war with the Church, and she didn’t want to rile them up with more incest. But the two were in love, so they rode their dragons to Dragonstone and married there, then defied everyone trying to separate them or get them off Dragonstone, until their mom relented. It then became a popular love story told about them. Rhaenyra referenced her great-grandma Queen Alysanne in episode 4, and she specifically tells Daemon to bring her to Dragonstone and marry her in the same way. It’s both a romantic and practical idea to her since their ancestors did the exact same thing and it all worked out. Feels like she’s been fantasising about this for a while since she got all the details and steps ready lol.

So the story is still kinda contemporary, and Daemon actually would’ve also grown up knowing the story too, heck he may have heard it straight from Jaeharys (who would be his grandfather) himself.

If Otto had stability in mind, he would not have asked to name Rhaenyra as heir, and then call for Aegon as soon as he was born. He would not have pushed his minor daughter to the king, either. He just wants power, but yes, he does love his daughter, it seems.

I see it as one of his half-measures, (both him and Viserys mention he is prone to those). He knew from ep. 1 that the Kings health is not great, so he pushes for Rhaenyra to be ahead of Daemon in the succession, in case King dies then and there. He knows that with the queen and baby dead, if anything happens to Viserys, Daemon claims the throne, and guess whos head would roll first in that case?? Those two hate each other. At the same time he instructs his daughter to get close to the King. He could not know how well that would turn out at first. It takes them months to get to the wedding, and all that time Rhaenyra is heir. Later, when he has his grandson, he pushes for his claim ofc. Otto looks to me like the guy who justifies his decisions as being for the greater good, but there is personal ambition underneath it, no doubt.

I mean, you are messing up a bit the events, timing wise... Otto pushed for Rhaenyra to be named WAY BEFORE Aegon was born, and the reason was to keep Daemon away from the throne, and to buy time for a new heir to be born, Alicent's in his mind... Alicent wasn't "minor" either is we put ourselves in that period; Alicent was 17 or 18 at that time, she was fully a woman of age in their eyes. Otto has indeed been pushing for an agenda that gives power to him and to his house, but he isn't someone who wants to put the realm into chaos and conflict and cause suffering of the innocent just for shits and giggles... You can see that, while pursuing his own agenda, he is also trying to keep the realm stable and happy... Hell, his agenda of putting Alicent in the path to wed Viserys and give him a male heir, is also partly because he knows that the fact that the king doesn't have a male heir is detrimental and dangerous for the realm... Another example is his machinations to keep Daemon away; obviously we know that he doesn't want Daemon next to Viserys because it would make it much more difficult to manipulate the king as he sees fit, so there you have his agenda, but he is also doing because Daemon could be an absolute mess if he is in positions of power and as heir to the throne, and he isn't wrong, Daemon isn't cut out to be king... So it isn't as black and white with Otto: Yes, he has his agendas and his own self interest; but that doesn't mean that he is completely without care or consideration for his daughter or the wellbeing of the realm as a whole.

He didn’t expect to get banished that’s for sure and definitely a huge set back for him but now that Viserys is dying I wonder how long it will take Otto to get back in a position where he can manipulate the outcome

Well Otto's the culprit of the situation if you think. He Proposed Rhaenyra be named Heir cos it'll be easy to replace her. He put her daughter in place she's in, with children. He Chose Rhaenyra be heir so that AEGON COULD Easily replace her. Ofcourse he knows what'll happen. He only didn't expect the KING will stick with Rhaenyra as heir so strongly. He's the one who made all these moves. WAR PROBABLY won't breakout unless the GREEN FACTION make the move, because everyone knows DAEMON is there to defend Rhaenyra against any kind of other Rebel.

Well, it is interesting that Otto made such a compelling speech, warning Alicent of what Rhaenyra would do to her to secure her reign - it is his last ditch effort to manipulate her into either, bringing him back somehow, or like you said, to secure Aegon's place as future king. His empassioned speech definitely was calculated, and now we just have to sit back and wait for this disaster to unfold!

Criston likes Rhaenyra but the reason he proposed to her about eloping and marrying was because he felt guilty that he broke his oath as King's guard. Not because he had undying love for her. So as he said he thought he could restore his honour by leaving King's guard and taking her to wife. But the moment she declined it, he got angry. At him and at Rhaenyra. He realised his honour is lost forever and he will have to live with that guilt. That's why he confessed to Alicent as well. He didn't care anymore about anybody or anything. He was willing to die. Pressure was just building up and building up and when Joffrey came and spoke to him about keeping their secrets, he just snapped.

Nobody is truly innocent - nobody is fully selfless. Alot of people missed this point but maybe you will find it interesting . At the scene where Otto is talking to Alicent what happened and what is to come you can see each of his words come to life in this episode. Starting with finding out about Rhaenyras lie from Larys Strong getting the TEA. later on when the king comes back he collapses making her question where she stands and lastly confirmed by Criston Cole that Rhaenyra lied to her and she is alone in this. Thats why you can see she choosing her House colors deciding to fight for her children/house.Very nicely produced episode once again . Also i saw alot of people saying Daemon is impotent no hes not. He is just a real family lover if u know what i mean :) no spoilers Loved the reaction btw ! the best is just yet to come !

This is a great reading. To understand alicent's behaviour you have to go back to the sex episode and the fact that rhynaera didn't trust her.For such a minor thing can sow seeds of doubt in alicent's mind. Remember she has children that she has to support she cannot rely on the whims of rynaerea to protect them .

In regards to the tea, unless told otherwise I'm assuming Rhaenyra drank it. She knew Viserys already didn't believe her and I think the consequences of ending up pregnant outweigh the guilt admission from drinking it. As for why Criston suddenly snapped, I think because he's been staring at Rhaenyra all night maybe he saw her kiss Daemon or just seeing them that close might have been the final straw and Joffrey just happened to be a convenient nearby outlet for his rage. The whole thing was supposed to be seven days with the wedding being at the end but it seems like they probably rushed it because of the death and likely because Viserys was afraid of Rhaenyra and Daemon doing something.

Knowing that Rhaenyra is going to be wed and on top of that, hearing that his indiscretions have been exposed to yet another person, I feel, were all contributing factors to his snapping. And yeah, I do think Viserys would have pushed the wedding to be finalized, also as it'd be hard to follow up with festivities after the brutal murder of Joffrey.

Viserys decided that Rhaenyra and Laenor have a shot gun wedding the same night as the party. To secure the alliance. From the looks of it, they could not wait the seven days because anything can happen at any moment. (i.e. Viserys declining health, Daemon abducting Rhaenyra to marry her.) Alicent spared Criston Cole because she needs to gather more support and trusted companions for her cause and she appreciated his honesty during their conversation.

I do think it was slightly deluded for Criston to think Rhaenyra would marry him - not because of a lack of love or strength in character, but because no matter how much she fights it, Rhaenyra is still bound by duty and she will honor it. Otto may have a point about Rhaenyra not being accepted as Queen. But when Viserys was about to get remarried, to someone who would have politically been a better choice (even though it grossed everyone out including the King), Otto made sure his own daughter became Queen. He caused a rift in the realm just to benefit himself. For that reason alone he deserved to be fired.

The ending montage was my favorite scene so far. Give me the aesthetics of the red hue of the weirdwood tree glowing in twilight, give me the flickering lights, give me the gloomy ambience of a GoT wedding with an equally gloomy soundtrack & hook it to my veins! The slightly overlooked heartfelt exchange Otto & Alicent had at the beginning was the most significant moment of the episode imo. Otto’s not wrong. You either hope for Rhaenyra’s mercy in the future or you act now. It's the Tywin Jaime "we can establish a dynasty that last a thousand years" moment for the show. The events at the wedding sets up the first chess pieces for Dance of Dragons. This is the episode where the Greens come into their own. *Rhaenyra and Laenor were exchanging wedding vows, but it was Alicent and Criston who were getting “married”*

There was also a rumor in the books that Alicent had a thing for Criston so it pissed her off that Rhaenyra - in the books - threw herself at him. If you notice in the previous episodes Alicent is decked out in red and black garments after her marriage to Viserys bc those are the Targaryen colors. After finding out that Rhaenyra lied to her, she went with a green gown and decided for a dramatic entrance so everyone could see that she was repping House Hightower and to show that she was not okay with Viserys dismissing her dad when he in fact did tell the truth. This starts with the whole 'The Greens vs The Blacks'. It's different in the book of course. But the way they did it here, with Ramin's background music and when she walks down the stairs gave me chills.

What I thought about the Christen Cole situation seeing the many angles presented, is that the fact that Joffrey asked to keep their secrets quiet... but sad for Sir Cole, he done already confessed to the Queen which meant that keeping it a secret was out of his hands. That in turn would have dire consequences since he had no control over his part of the "bargain".

Was it just me or anyone else irritated by Criston Cole? What did he expect, she elope just coz he slept once with her? Thought By marrying Rhaenyra he'd regain some honour? How? that's a crime too. Everything he proposed to do was more down the spiral of oathbreaking. The things he yelled at Rhaenyra about OATH he could've told her pleasantly that NIGHT bcs his whole family could be beheaded for the crimes ( Oathbreaking & deflowering princess). Rhaenyra isn't Cersei to execute him coz he didn't want to sleep with her 😂 CRISTONs not fully mad that She's getting married, he's losing his chance of regaining his honour in his eyes , idk how though, He said it himself & he doesn't know if the Queen will kill him or not cos he couldn't SHUT UP and listen fully. If he loved her truly he'd keep that info from going out coz that'll put her life in danger or atleast listen properly. More than love for Rhaenyra he was f'd up by his guilt. All the "awww" reactions to criston are not gonna age well I think.

Thanks for the comment! We were rooting for him, and honestly, we do want to see future episodes in order to fully form our opinion regarding how selfish he is. I don't think his frustration is as simple as him losing his chance at regaining his honor - I do think it played a part in it, but I do think it was a crime of passion. Him wanting to marry Rhaenyra is frankly, unrealistic and him letting his feelings involved was a big mistake. I do think he expected her to be different - think if we reverse genders in this situation. There have been many love stories in our history of a noble man falling in love with a 'common-born' though it started purely physical (think Tyrion marrying a sex worker). I kind of felt that he thought she'd actually marry him because she's been vocal about her resentment of the traditions, so the way I interpreted it is that he thought she'd be 'different'. Again, we do like to wait and see until we make certain statements because remember, this video is simply our initial reaction, not our final verdict! Otto may not be as bad as Littlefinger; but he was fatally ambitious. No one forced him to push his daughter into the recently widowed king's chamber to "comfort" the grieving man (after advising the girl to wear her mother's dress); he wanted to put his future grandson on the Iron Throne and bypass any plans the king might have had for his own daughter or that daughter's children. And then, after the king married Otto's daughter and had sons with her, Otto drummed into his daughter the fear that the king's firstborn daughter, his named heir, would kill them, thus ending any hopes of making peace and alliances before Viserys died. Otto should have influenced Alicent to marry a child of hers to a future son of Rhaenyra's, to pledge her loyalty to Rhaenyra; that way Alicent and her kids would have the best chance of survival. Or Otto could have asked Viserys for help in finding a good marriage for Alicent that was not to Viserys himself; what a thought!

Next episode will have a big time jump and the actress who played Rhaenyra and Alicent will change. Fantastic reaction guys, And i love how like me you try and see things from every ones perspectives, This is a multi-layered show it’s not black and white and all decisions have consequence. Daemon and Nyra are my favourites but so many people only want to see things from Nyras point of view, everyone points out Cole’s selfishness but what about hers throughout even just this episode. She wants cole to be her sworn knight and secret lover, is he supposed to just wait around to get caught one day? She openly embraces Daemon in the middle of her own wedding… I think so far the least selfish character is Viserys and even he is selfish for his daughters benefit. Also crazy how much you guys interact in the comments, fair play 😊

Great reaction guys. As in the book it is not clear what was said to Sir Criston to make him suddenly snap. The conversation with Joffrey Lonmouth that we witnessed may not have been it. Remember we broke off from the end of that conversation some time back to when we see him lose it completely. It's ambiguous in the book and perhaps we'll find out in the show haha. The dragons you saw this episode were Laenor's "Seasmoke" and Princess Rhaenys' "Meleys"... And while Seasmoke is indeed quite young and small; Meleys isn't, she is around Caraxes age and probably just a bit smaller than him... It's just that Caraxes might look bigger because of his peculiar shape... But Meleys is a big dragon, and very fast which gives her an advantage in fights, even tho she is a bit lazy or laid back in temperament So, while all of the dragons are technically "Targaryen dragons", it's also not necessarily true that their dragons are "bigger than the Velaryons'"... In fact, without going into spoilers, you are going to be in awe of the size of one of theirs, just saying... And another bit of fact, that isn't really a spoiler, is that a lot of the dragons, in fact the bigger ones at this point in time, are almost all of them without Riders, neither Velaryon or Targaryen

But yeah I really enjoyed Milly's and Emily's performance. Got attached to them as Rhaenyra and Alicent. But the next two actors will be the main actors that will take the show for the rest of the seasons. And they are amazing. HBO released sneak peek of episode 6 with these two new actors. They are amazing as older Rhaenyra and Alicent. You should check those 2 videos if you like. Its very short clips so you won't see much of their performance but still gives you an idea

She definitely married Laenor. They just sped up the process. There were plenty of reasons to do so starting with what Criston did. Besides, Viserys felt unwell and wanted to make sure this happens before something happens to him. Also, he clearly saw Rhaenyra and Daemon hanging out and it wasn’t what he planned at all. As you remember, it took Viserys a lot of effort to arrange this marriage. So, it should happen no matter what.

Okay yes, so they did definitely get married gotcha! I don't blame them for rushing it, with Viserys' declining health and Daemon circling Rhaenyra, plus Criston's violent outburst, there is clearly a lot that could have gone wrong, had they waited!

Both of us love the design for Caraxes specifically because he is deformed and special. Although I like the idea that Seasmoke is basically invisible under the right circumstances. And My god! When we see Vhagar ooofff it’s gonna be an amazing day for the community. Largest dragon yet truly can’t wait. Although it would be cool to some day see Balerion as well😃

@@OfficialMediaKnights We got to see MELEYS 'the RED QUEEN" (Rhaenys' dragon) too this ep. haha, same here, CARAXES is unique, even its ROAR, none other like him. SEASMOKE is more like Dany's dragons cos of same rumoured Mother dragon , Dreamfyre. I wish to see BALERION Properly in a Series focusing on DOOM OF VALYRIA & AEGONS CONQUEST. I hope it gets made. We can See BALERION at his full glory.

Yeah he for sure wasn’t having a good day. Loved that the episode was so jarring in how it portrayed what was going on. It took us literally until after watching to figure out why exactly Criston would snap because at first it didn’t feel like a threat. But of course a lot of subtle “blackmailing” in those times haha

Last we saw he was with Rhaenyra - it'd definitely be a possibility that he gave Criston that 'Daemon stare', to antagonize him maybe, to instigate something - or perhaps Daemon was completely oblivious to that aspect of Rhaenyra's life. What do you think??

@@OfficialMediaKnights I’m not sure. We see Daemon and Rhaenyra really close and then nothing. (I do think he has some kind of feelings for her as she does for him) So why did he leave her alone in the middle of a fight? it’s clear form their coversation on the dancefloor that there’s tension and she’s pushing him to take action. We know he loves to cause drama but did Rhaenyra said something that made him leave? There was a moment when Daemon was dancing with Laena and they were next to Laenor (when Joffrey was telling him about Criston)and i did think for a moment that he heard the conversation but i’m not sure. I guess is just building up to the main event of the series… the dance of the dragons and the rest is up to us to guess. I love your reactions! Keep it up. And sorry for my english. Is not my first language.

Thanks so much for elaborating - interesting theory. I definitely wouldn't put it past Daemon to know about Laenor's relationship with Joffrey, and we've also seen him play intricate mindgames to get what he wants so, as far as we know he may have done something to set off Ser Criston as well? Right, we noticed that too! I think it's interesting to see rats even in the most lavish of castles - we first saw Alicent seeing it in the King's chambers, and now after Joffrey's murder/the wedding. There is something fascinating about how rats are pure survivalists and have evolved so much over time, managing to stay hidden and also populate without being noticed until it's too late. It could very well hint at the downfall of the houses, perhaps an incoming war, the rot that grows from within (thematically) whilst going hand in hand with Viserys' leprosy (at least that's what I think he has!) finally catching up to him... I'm rambling haha, but yeah that's my theory!

Definitely agreed - Criston and Alicent have been these quiet characters, so vulnerable til now so I'm hoping that they grow through this and start grabbing life by the horns! Hopefully Alicent can free herself from her father's and everyone else's influence so she can be her own person. Looking forward to where their characters are going!

He does seem to be coming apart at the seams - I do think that, aside from getting involed which was obviously a mistake, getting caught up with his feelings for Rhaenyra was erroneous. Seeing this side of him does make him a more interesting character though - not just so cookie-cutter, good guy but someone with more depth and darkness to him!

Jody's Corner: Daemon is a trash character!! 🤣 Sure, simp. Go root for the wimpy characters like yourself. Daemon helped the best family in the series (Velaryon) while the "good" brother did nothing for them for 3 years. That's why Corlys dissed Viserys by not greeting him outside. Corlys still remembers being ignored for his Crabfeeder concerns and Laena being passed over by Viserys in Ep 1 & 2. And only Daemon was willing to risk his life to help the navy while Viserys only ignored them while talking about feasting and tourneys. I like House Velaryon. Corlys is an ambitious and prideful man willing to fight in his own wars. He likes to flex his accomplishments because he came from nothing. Rhaenys, Laenor, and Laena are good people. Rhaenys might be the most likeable or most balanced Targ so far in this series although it's easy to be likeable when you barely appear in it to expose your flaws. Minor characters have that advantage. But I like Rhaenys' demeanor. Laenor is proving in Ep 6 scenes that even though he's gay and those aren't his children, he's still supportive to Rhaenyra. He's like Bob (Sean Astin) in Stranger Things' S2. He's trying to be a good stepfather. He too seems quite humble like Rhaenys and Laena. If you ever seen Cobra Kai, they took the villains from The Karate Kid movies and made them likeable. Why are people judging Daemon and Rhaenyra so quickly? Johnny Lawrence told Daniel, people have the right to change. Chozen tried killing Daniel and he became loveable. Viserys isn't even dead yet! In Ep 6, 10 years has passed and he's still alive. Chill, people. The craziness hasn't started yet. Think of Ep 1-5 as a prologue or The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones. Those events were mostly unimportant looking back. The real meat to the story hasn't started yet.

To be fair, everyone is entitled to their opinion and Daemon's character is definitely not for everyone. He's the best and the worst of us at the same time - it's bound to ruffle some feathers for sure! Also let's not forget, issuing judgment is kinda a human trait. We all have our moments where we like to sit on our soap box, judging others, so sure we would never ever be like 'them' but really, most of our actions are completely dependent on context and the situation. That's where I think Martin does such an incredible job with his storytelling because all he does, really, is hold up a mirror to humanity's most heroic and most atrocious moments. Of course that's hard to swallow haha, but I think that's also kinda the point. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
