Can’t stand Alicent! She’s jealous of Rhaenyra simple and plain and hides behind self righteous BS to justify her jealousy, she doesn’t care about the realm or else she’d teach her son to be a good king early, all she wants is power. There’s no way Rhaenyra would kill her half brothers (that’s just Otto being manipulative) if people pressure her she could just get her dragons out and tell ‘em where to go. I will say Rhaenyra should be building more of a relationship with her half brothers just in case the moment comes where they have to choose and if they choose there mother she has every right to call it treason against there fathers wishes for her to be heir.

" its not that she's jealous. She had to be married to a king she doesn't love and let him have sex with her over and over so she could get him proper male heirs. And instead of making them successors to him he instead gives it to his daughter. And she's not even bothering to have Targareyan kids. Her kids SHOULD be the heirs according to custom. So she naturally is resentful that she had to do her duty and be in a situation she didn't want to be in for the good of the realm, but Rhaenyra gets to flout tradition and have bastard kids who then get to be king. Plus she is rightly concerned that if her kids ever did make a claim that they would be killed. Which is probably true. Viserys created this whole mess by naming Rheanyra his successor despite his wife giving him male heirs.

1- Alicent CHOOSE to do what she did, it’s her best friends dad she could have gone back to old town if she really wanted to, but chose to start a secret relationship with the king 2- the boys (aegon and aemond) weren’t born when she was named air, once she was named heir that’s it end of discussion (it was a bad choice but it’s done), to question that is direct disrespect to the crown 3- Rhaenyra 100% fucked up with Harwin but she’s still the heir to the throne, yes her kids are illegitimate and should be able to sit the throne, but all she has to do is remarry once she’s queen and those kids would be legitimate 4- Rhaenyra wouldn’t kill her half brothers unless they attacked her, that Otto line about killing the kids is BS to make Alicent play the game, his reasoning was ‘ohh the lords will pressure Rhaenyra to do it’ she has fxcking dragons and can tell them to get lost, she’d also be queen and what she says is law

The story will be a lot easier to follow once the time skips stop. Season 1 has a lot of time skips because they have to build up to the main conflict in a timely manner.

Rhaenyra’s marriage and Otto’s position has nothing to do with each other. She would have to marry regardless if he was fired or not. And Alicent doesn’t care about Rhaenyra being faithfull, she looking for a reason to steal her inheritance, Rhaenyra made it easier for her, but Alicent would have still done all that she is about to do regardless who the kids dad are.

@@dipsydoodle2728 Firstly, She def got Otto fired. Do u think Vicerys fires Otto if Rhae didn’t give him that ultimatum? I think not. And she went behind Rhae’s back because HER FATHER TOLD HER TO, she had no say in the matter. If she’d said something about it to Rhae, Rhae would know something was up. However, if Alicent is sleeping around with Cole, I’ll agree that it would be very hypocritical of her to do so. And currently I agree that she is loving her power, but the power itself wasn’t hers to want. A lot of the characteristics Alicent showed in this ep was that of a person molded by unfortunate circumstances

@@jerri3285 He uses his disability to make himself seem non threatening. He then sits down and listens in on the conversations so he can get all the gossip. They eventually forget he's there or consider him a non threat and he gets all the juicy details they are talking about.

Leanor knows he is not the actual father of the kids. But technically they are his kids. Unless he wants to declare them bastards, which neither he nor his wife will do. HE puts on the pretense that they are his for the public. That's the arrangement he has with her. He gets to be gay and she gets to have her lovers, but if a child is born he will still claim that he is the father. And everyone will then go along with the lie. This is actually Alicent's issue with the kids. she knows they can't be Leanors kids because they look nothing like him. (it is actualplly a good idea in retrospect to make the Valeryians be black since you'd think the kids would have black skin and or white hair. They have neither. Thus its even more apparent to everyone that the kids are not Leanors. She can't come out and say it though as Rhaenyra is the rightful successor and she is not going to accuse her of having kids out of wedlock. Instead she tries to poison the kings mind by constantly telling him that Rhaenyra's kids are bastards. She's trying to make him change succession. But she can't be the one to outright accuse Rhaenyra of giving birth to bastards. However, if the kids actually are bastards then they would't be in line for the throne. Bastards are not allowed to inherit their father's lands or titles, and have no claims to the privileges of their father's house. in this case they are already violating norms by having Rhaenyra be the successor and not the male child. But if it's proven they are bastards then they shouldn't be in line for succession. Thats why the queen pulls Leanor aside and tells him maybe next time she can give birth to a kid that looks a bit more like Leanor just so it doesn't look so obvious to everyone that he is being cucked and that his kids are all bastards. no one is actually falling for it, and its an open secret. Which is why, Cristen Cole is treating the kids so roughly, by the way. He despises Rhaneyra now out of jealousy and knows that the kids are actually bastards. So he is treating them roughly every chance he gets. He has quite the set of balls on him to think he can mishandle Rhaneyra's kids since she is actually the rightful heir and therefore her kids are in line to be king. But he allied himself with Alicent and she will not punish Cole if he does mistreat the kids. And she's the queen. So he can get away with it as Alicent permits it. The king is oblivious since he just wants everyone to get along and doesn't want to hear anything that might rock the boat. He should have put his foot down and told his wife that if she continues pushing her kids as the rightful heirs he will execute her for treason. Because she is deliberately undermining him even though he already said who his successor should be. Or he should have honored tradition and made his first male child be the heir as everyone expects and then stopped the growing rift in its tracks.. But he's too much of a milquetoast and doesn't want to rock the boat in either case. and he doens't want to go back on his word to Rhaenyra So he wont ever put his foot down but is also causing a crisis by not putting his foot down with his wife. He truly is a bad leader. He seems like a good man. Just not a good leader. As bad as Alicent is though her son should be the rightful heir, at least based on tradition. And Rhaenyra is flauting the rules by having bastards who are suddenly in line to be king over her children who are the actual children of the king. She had to have sex with the king who she obvioulsy is not attracted toand do her duty for years and got the king male heirs. And they are all being passed over so he can give the crown to his daughter who flouts all the rules and can't even have true Targaryans as kids. i can see why she's pissed off.

My theory is that the King probably lasted this long because of his new Maester. The old one was working with Otto and was the one who wouldn't let the current Maester try a different approach. Viserys probably rates his hand highly because he was the one who probably figured out the old Maester was sabotaging him and made him change to the new Maester. I haven't read the books so I hope we get flashbacks at some point because I'm sure we missed a lot of key moments in the time in between.

yeh episode 4-5 were boring me. unlike the original GOT there aren't enough players and houses, everything felt new back then. Oh and the actors like Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Jack Gleeson and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau kicked off that show in amazing way. It's a lot for the rest of these guys to live up to especially with such thin source material
