They've made it clear so many times that Alicent truly believed the King wanted her son Aegon, there was no malice or word bending on her part. At worst it was just a dumb misunderstansding. FACTS. They read the book where Allicent was evil and mean. They made Allicent a TOTALY different character in the series and these book readers are blinded by BIAS. They cant/refuse to see that Allicent in the show is NOT the same Allicent in the BOOK.

Viserys said to Alicent right before he died “You asked me if the profecy is real” She knew Viserys wasn t talking about her son lmfao, she just took from that one single name which is Aegon and planted it in her mind that her son should be king. Meaning one single thing, now she has something (invented in her mind) to do what she always wanted to do… which is having Aegon as king. I think Jody missed a crucial plot point. When Rhaenyra sat with her father, SHE asked him if the song of ice and fire was true. He did not respond to her in that moment. Later, when he was so close to death he couldn’t even tell WHO he was talking to, he was answering the question that Rhaenyra asked him earlier in the episode by telling her that the song of ice and fire was true. It was not meant for Alicent, it was meant for Rhaenyra. When the hell did he and Alicent ever talk about the song of ice and fire? Context clues y’all.

The Show Runner Ryan Condal said that King Visery was having a fever dream and thought that he was continuing his conversation with Rhaenera when she had asked him was the prince that promised was was true. Rhaenyra gets passes because she spent ten years living her life trying to make the best of her situation (it was her duty to marry and she did marry laenor, it was her duty to have children even when she was clearly scared if it due to her mother's death but she still had kids, she and laenor tried to have kids together but it didn't work again she tried to make the best of it and had another dude to father her kids) she raised her kids in a decent way unlike Alicent who spent ten years hating on Rhaenyra and her kids and she poisned her own children with her toxicity. Rhaenyra gets a pass because up to ep 7 she didn't make any move at the game yet, it was when Otto came back she felt unsafe and fixed Daemon at her side as a husband, it was when Vaemond questiond her sons legitimacy that she begged her father for help and begged Rhaenys too and betrothed the children. You wonder why Alicent gets so much backlash because she was plotting since ep five against Rhae while Rhae is minding her business. While Rhae gets called out for her action, y'all be blaming Otto for Alicent faults

Ironic cause in a way they are the cersei and jaime of this show lol. last 3 mins aside,i thought this was an excellent episode. it felt like a white house political thriller with a "race against time" feel from start to finish suspense. When Otto was moving around chess pieces, Beesbury screaming, Caswell hanging..I was on the edge of my seat. I knew how good it was when it had reactors already coping for compeuppance lol. Tom Glynn-Carney showed excellent range as Aegon. But it got overshadowed by 3 mins of a Rhaenys "happy ending" smdh lol. This crowning ceremony was a visual historygasm, finally befitting a king in got verse. The actors for Otto, Alicent, Aegon did a great job. And that "window in the wall of your prison" line is one of the best lines of the show so far.

Rhaenys hasn't read Fire & Blood to know of horrors to come. So her pre-emptively nuking half her own family would've been OP. Having said that, the Rhaenys bit was to give audience a 'send home happy' moment which wasn't necessary. The coronation was fantastic in itself. But gawd forbid the ''bad guys' are on top in one episode. Those who thought lowborns of KL have any obligation to support Rhaenyra are in for big disappointments. Aegon claims his birthright from popular King Jaehaerys' Great Council stating king's firstborn male son is next king. Viserys himself won it over Rhaenys like that. Best part of this was the politics, less dragons the better. Despairing mom version of alicent does highlight her humanity more than the colder iteration of the actual green council. A well needed adjustment imo but also a continuation of her Harrenhall or knife scene mistake. They've constantly shown subtleties in her character which audience wilfully ignores since we're watching this as a team sport and gotta cheer team lovable manipulative dad. Her being more humanized shouldn't be an issue unless one wants the show to remain grotesquely tilted towards Black (Laenor death,Rhae-Vaemond)

I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show does really well is the details, down to locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the sense of treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as a "fait accompli". This brings to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I liked agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It's more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble. *Jokes aside, Tfw u only support Green Lives Matter King for the extermination of Strong Boys cause ur pro Valeryian blood supremacy.*
