⁠​⁠@@tomislavmuskovic4139 They have only said Sunfyre was slowly dying, not that he was officially dead. But yes, even though Sunfyre and Aegon are technically alive, they are off the board. Helaena doesn’t really seem like a fighter to me, so I’d say you can almost count her and Dreamfyre off the board as well. (Maybe that changes, idk, but at least what we’ve seen so far.) They just said in the last episode that Daeron had just done his first flight with his dragon and is joining up with the Hightower army. So he will soon be on the board, but would be the smallest and least experienced dragon. So yea, Team Green is currently really only a threat with Vhagar, who can only be in one place at a time. And now that Team Black has a few more bigger dragons, is no longer invincible. Especially if outnumbered. Biggest downside for Team Black is that these new riders are all inexperienced and unlike Daeron, haven’t assumingely been taking lessons and preparing to be a dragonrider their whole life.

@@superkoopatrooper4879 the literal point is that the dragons determined legitimacy, by having a dragon it proved he’s a true Targaryen heir, the books themselves literally made a whole line about Luke saying how people call them bastards but once they see them on dragon back, they’ll know the truth that only true legitimate Targaryens ride dragons. Those dragons are a proof of legitimacy. Giving a dragon to Darklyn or someone else in their own camp of noble blood and legitimate heirs only prove that dragons go to legitimate born Targaryen blood. The moment Rhaenyra gives dragon claims to other Targaryen bastards, Jace’s claim is weakened and that he can’t argue that the dragon proves him a legitimate born Targaryen heir instead of a bastard. You’re acting like he doesn’t know his claim is technically in a precarious position, when he’s literally aware of it and that’s why he’s mad because by doing this, his position is becoming even worse. And this is his own mother taking away the one cloak of protection of legitimacy he has with a dragon.

You guys already touched on it but yes Jace and Luke are Harwins Strongs sons, Harwin was Rhaenyras guard after Cristen Cole, Harwin is the brother of Larys (clubfoot) and Lyonel Strong (king Viserys hand for a time) Larys killed Harwin and Lyonel in a fire at Harrenhall last season. Hugh is the son of Saera Targaryen, sister to Baelon Targaryen, father of Daemon and Viserys Someone else probably explained it but hopefully that helps

In the book the questioning of legitimacy of Rhaenyra's sons is not there, is a rumor made up by the greens. In the book the Velaryons are not black so the skin is not the issue there, is more about the hair not being silver, but then again in the book Rhaenys has black hair because she's half Baratheon, so it would not be so unimaginable that Rhaenyra's sons also had that hair. The show made it more of a fact.

That was honestly my personal pet peeve for season 1. When I read the book, I did come to the conclusion that Jace, Luke and Joff were bastards, but it was because of the evidence of Laenor never being interested in women and Rhaenyra's close relationship with Harwin. Rhaenys' black hair is what kept it from being intangibly true and just kept it as just a rumour. If they kept her black, hair, imagine the fun debates and speculation as to wether the boys were trueborn heirs or bastards

That dragon is mad and that is why he chose him. Dragons are attracted to riders who reflect their temperament . No one has ridden that dragon since the king that Daemon’s brother took the throne from after he died. He’s broodish , angry and now he chose a rider who is too. Ulf took his dragon to show the people at the tavern he wasn’t lying, bringing Aemon back was icing, she wanted him to see how many dragons she has because he knows his dragon is huge but it can’t take on the second largest dragon and four or five smaller ones and live. His brother’s dragon is still weak and grounded, he doesn’t have the numbers. There are a lot of dragons and some don’t even fight in the war ever, some just up and disappear, some stay and die of old age years afterwards. A lot of the dragons are young and on the small side so they can’t fight, so much is about to change going forward

GOT is excellent. I still recommend it to people. You should definitely watch. Also, I don't think you can confuse things from HOTD and GOT because the nature of the storytelling is different. I've watched all the live action stuff and read the books and I don't have any issues of that nature. That being said, in season 1 of GOT, there is a scene that spoils how HOTD ends.

You can catch on , but from first hearing it you don’t know if he’s quoting her all the way or just until a certain point. Keeping up with family relations is not always so easy for others like it is for you, so some empathy would be great. Getting so angry about it sounds like a real personal problem because it is not that big of a deal. And Hugh was never CONSTANTLY referencing his family like Ulf was, so that point does not make sense for him. ALSO not every character is memorable, especially when it’s SO MANY OF THEM.

Not quite. Saera was sister to Baelon Targaryen, Viserys & Daemon’s father. They were both the children of King Jaehaerys. That’s why Hugh says “she told me I was just like her brother’s boys”. Dragon breakdown: For Team Green -- Vhagar belongs to Aemond. Sunfyre belongs to Aegon. Dreamfyre belongs to Helaena (Aegon's sister-wife, the one with the visions). Tessarion belongs to their younger brother Dareon (who hasn't been in the show yet). For Team Black -- Caraxes belongs to Daemon. Syrax belongs to Rhaenyra. Vermax belongs to Jacaerys (Rhaenyra's oldest son) Moondancer belongs to Baela Velaryon, Jace's fiancee, Corlys's granddaughter). Arrax is dead, he was the dragon Lucerys was riding when Aemond killed them in the last season finale. Meleys is also dead, ofc, as she was killed in episode 4 this season. The NEW dragons, that is to say, the dragons recently reclaimed by the new riders, are Seasmoke (Addam), Vermithor (Hugh), and Silverwing (Ulf). There are still 3 wild dragons who have never had riders: Sheepstealer, Grey Ghost, and Cannibal. They are completely wild and have never had riders.

The book makes Rhaenyra's first 3 boys parentage ambiguous. In the book, Laenor's mother, Princess Rhaenys has dark hair, since her mother is from the Baratheon family. While Laenor had silver hair, one could argue the dark hair simply skipped a generation. The show cemented the bastard status of those boys.

House Beesbury -- mentioned before Silverwing shows up -- are battling the Hightowers because Lord Lyman Beesbury was killed last season by Criston Cole at the meeting where the Greens put Aegon on the throne.

In answer to the question posed during the video: the point of preventing the Dragonseeds from leaving is that Rhaenyra gets rid of a lot of potential claimants to the throne. She only needs two dragon riders. The rest can only serve to cause headaches for her, down the line. I think they put this scene after her scene with Jace on purpose. Rhaenyra isn’t that good about thinking about long-term consequences. If she were, she would have taken a lover with light hair to father her eldest three boys. But, I think her conversation with Jace made her think twice about the succession after she’s gone. Also remember that she touched Vermithor. It seems like she’s just connecting with him and calming him down but I think she was communicating with him that she sanctioned him killing all those he didn’t want as a rider. So, yes, she still has to deal with illegitimate riders who could seek the throne but dealing with two or three is better than dealing with two or three dozen. It seems evil on her part but she doesn’t want Jace’s rule questioned for his own sake and for the sake of the prophecy. She believes that the realm must stay United.

As a die hard GOT fan both books and show even I felt the last season was a mess, it was far too rushed and choices made I didn't agree with, and no it doesn't include who's on the Iron throne at the end I was fine with that just wanted a far better reason than what was given, I won't go into details because of spoilers, but for the most part it's a great show.

With GoT I would say the first 6 seasons are pretty excellent, not just 4. And even though they pooped the ending, the journey with those characters for those 6 seasons is still worth it. I also think you'll be less confused than you think, especially after season 1 and with HotD experience under your belt. It's less confusing because it's not just all about 1 incest family, but there are several Houses with less difficult names lol. It can be a little challenging to keep track at first, but on the other hand I do think it's easier once you're in it than one million Aegons. It would be fun to see you guys do a season in between HotD seasons if you find the time, but understandable that you have a ton of other content to go through as well.

For me, GoT found me at the perfect time - it could easily be said it is almost be like religion for me but not like in a culty weird way. I was dealing with a lot of personal things and there’s some really great character development that really just hit me in the feels. For what it’s worth here is my 2 cents, yes it is true season 8 kinda shit the bed. But not in the way that most peoole say. What D&D did was basically “Fast treveled” the show. I still really liked the story elements and where the show ended but we lost out on the slower character driven moments because of the “hurry up, end” mentality.” 1-6 is phenomenal though. Just as it’s said all the time though. Judge it for yourself. When all 5 seasons of HoTD are done I highly recommend watching. I think you guys will appreciate it more than you think you will. Love you guys as always.

Hector is spot on, though at that point they wouldn't have called it racism. Still on that front, people from different regions of Westeros treat outsiders as foreigners even though they share a religion and most are even of same heritage (North and Dorne are the ones more distinct than the rest). Jace is smart, but dumb. He saw an opportunity in using bastards but I guess it didn't occur to him that a dragon makes anyone a viable candidate for the throne. As Mysaria told Rhaenyra, honor goes as far as people want it to, and anyone from a noble house that succeeded might have posed a bigger threat than he sees the bastards as. He's predicted Robert Baratheon (who didn't even have a dragon) but he doesn't know.

Justice for Silverwing! She's a beautiful old dragon! Lol I've not read the books but wouldn't most of the dragons be able to outrun Vhagar? I know she's the biggest but isn't she also slower because of that and her age? I feel like the other dragons can outrun her.

Hugh's mom is princess saera, she was the daughter of the old king before viserys was made king. She basically as a teen slept with a bunch of dudes and got kicked out of the house, and tried to take Dad's car on the way out (aka a dragon) but got caught. Since Hugh is a blacksmith her is probably gonna have an awesome weapon

15:30 the show is pretty clear that Laenor isn't their father in season 1, more so than the book, besides the whole drama surrounding the 'rumors' that they are Strong's 'bastards' , there's also a scene she has talking to Laenor about it before he left saying that she 'wanted' the children to come from him, like they tried but he was never able to get her pregnant.

I understand not wanting to watch Game Of Thrones. I would add though watching the first four season helps you understand the GOT mania that took over television for like a decade. Why every exec was like we need our own Game Of Thrones. Which in many ways execs are still searching for. It's a part of Television history like The Sopranos or The Wire. I'll also add since you all havent read the books seasons 4-8 might be more enjoyable without all of the bagade of book expectations. Just some stuff to consider.

I was rewatching with a friend last year and there was one specific one where my stomach dropped… so bummed I heard it. Before HOTD S1 they were all just fun random stories with names I didn’t recognize. Not anymore…

Nope, you guys are making a BIG mistake. Game of Thrones is not a burner show for many years down the line - it's THE marquee show with Main Character Energy, that demands to be covered in the near future. Even when GoT is "bad", it's still better than most shows out there, in terms of sheer spectacle, scale and scope. HotD is an intimate family drama held mostly within the confines of a few castles, while GoT is a grand, sweeping saga involving multiple houses and many, varied shooting locations. Once the gears are set into motion, the seasons will fly by, because there are so many moving parts - the pace and focus constantly switching it up. Seasons 05 - 08 are still quite entertaining and watchable, involving ever-ballooning budgets, with the money up there on the screen, and some all-time episodes... despite veering off adaptable material. There's a reason why it was, for many years, the #1 pirated show in the world. Holding off on viewing is just stunting your channel growth. You're throwing away precious momentum, nerdy fantasy audience overlap, nostalgic goodwill from people who want to relive the glory days of GoT and its unforgettable sequences, and the rare perspective of being a trio with over 100k subs, who saw HoTD BEFORE GoT (a hook that will keep channel viewers intrigued about your reactions.) All you need are a few moderators to keep the comments spoiler / hint free, and moderator advice to skip key scenes in episodes of GoT with future HotD spoilers. The channel Spartan & Pudgey had a similar journey - a pair who had never seen GoT, but watched HoTD S1 first. When they covered GoT after HotD, their channel exploded and now they make tens of thousands of dollars a month from Patreon alone. If you go through with a full course meal of GoT, I predict you may buy the box set, that your actual reaction will be, "Damn, why did we wait so long to cover this awesome show? Some of these seasons and episodes are EPIC. We should have done this years ago..." I can, however, understand fantasy burnout. But "Rings of Power" - from the singular season I've seen so far - wishes it could be half as good as GoT in its latter half, when it "fell off." Don't delay nor deny yourselves of an eye-opening viewing experience, just because some people feel the show didn't stick the landing.

"What a hero!" The actor who plays him interprets his actions differently - in his mind, he wasn't saving the woman from death, he was afraid that the dragon would pick her, so he called the dragon as a desperate attempt to get it to pick him instead.

That's the way I interpret that scene as well. He's already stolen food from a poor person in KL. I don't think he was being heroic in trying to get Vermithor. I have an uneasy feeling about Hugh. I haven't read the books but I don't think I trust him.

I don't agree. He saved her behind the rock, then when facing Vermathor, he was ready to die. He said "I'm ready". When he didn't get blasted, that's when he yelled and the dragon calmed tf down. He was surprised. I really think he was trying to do the right thing. IMHO.

Except the two with the biggest claim have the two largest dragons after Vhagar, granted Silverwing and ULf are as laid back as they come, but Vermothor would BBQ you if you gave him a look he didn't like and Hugh has no issue attacking someone if the need calls for it, as we saw with him getting food.

Does that make Vermithor a Monster Truck and Silverwing a Deisel 6 seater extended cab? Silverwing is bigger than Caraxes and Meleys (one generation younger) but slightly smaller than Dreamfyre and quite a bit smaller than Vermithor. (from Silverwings Genration)

Hugh's mother is Saera Targaryen daughter of the old King Jaehaerys and sibling to Baelon the Brave, Viserys and Daemon's father. Saera Targaryen was punished by the old king for the scandal she caused and was made to be a silent sister she said fuck that and left to be a bedroom companion, which might I add she became rich from. Saera was denied a dragon when she tried claim one so Hugh claiming Vermithor "the Bronze Fury" is certainly karma because Vermithor is the Old Kings dragon.

@@sgrapness4678 Oh totally! Had that same convo with my friends right after the episode. I think it would have helped add even more tension. And would be a classic GOT move. I wonder if that was part of what was cut when they lowered the episode count for the season from 10 episodes down to 8. (According to HBO’s Head of Drama, Francesca Orsi, the first draft of the scripts were 10 episodes.) They also could have traded one Hugh scene and one Alyn & Addam scene to introduce one more I think, even with this episode count.
