Blood and Cheese was a let down. Quite anti-climactic. The moment didn’t live up to the anticipation. Helena lacked any if so, a fight or emotion. In a perfect world, that scene should have started the episode. Much at the start went flat. For a season with less Episodes, the pacing needs to pick up.

so glad you brought up Daemon's dragon being ridden by Rhaenys' father. Even worse, Dreamfyre and her offspring Sunfyre are on opposite sides of the conflict as the rest of Dreamfyre's offspring (Caraxes and Melys) which makes the Dance that much sadder. Also, Arrax was Syrax's offspring, so at 26:38 they were both mourning their dead children

And with Rook’s Rest you have the dragons of Daemon’s parents facing off - Vhagar (Daemon’s father’s dragon) vs Meleys (Daemon’s mother Alyssa’s dragon)… There’s layer upon layer of tragedy.

Daemon doesn’t want the throne, Daemon wants what he considers pure Targaryens to be on the throne. Daemon had plenty of opportunity to usurp the throne but he didn’t do it because all he really wanted was to be his brother’s Hand of the King. Daemon wanted to marry Rhaenyra because he believes in the tradition of keeping their blood pure, that is why he hated his marriage with Rhea Royce. The conqueror and King Jaeherys both married their sisters, marrying a niece is nothing controversial for Daemon. Would he take the throne if it came to it, sure but NEVER at the expense of his brother or niece.

I don’t think Daemon would have any problem in ordering the death of Aegon’s son, especially his heir. Because we saw how he responded when his nephew Baelon died and he joked about it in the brothels. Not to mention he killed his wife in cold blood without any hesitation. In his eyes, if they couldn’t get Aemond, then Jaehaerys was the next best target in terms of importance to the greens. Since like I said, he was the heir to the throne.

I think it makes sense that the Greens were just confident that as long as the guards were outside looking for dragons, nothing could get to them. That is why the Keep was so empty.
