HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2 Episode 3 titled "The Burning Mill" features ancient grudges resurfacing, Rhaenys suggesting that Alicent may see reason while the men around her seek bloodshed. Ser Criston proposes a bold scheme. Daemon arrives at Harrenhal to raise an army for the Blacks.

In the first season, when Rhaenera is seeing suitors, you see a smaller young man being taunted by a loudish, much larger young man. This leads to a duel with a subversive ending, seeing the smaller boy win. The small boy is Willem Blackwood and the brute is Jerrel Bracken. Literally at odds at every opportunity lol

A lot of times in a show like this people say “If only they would’ve communicated things wouldn’t have got to this point”. I like that they allowed that to happen here and now people from both parties know that this is really a misunderstanding but the thirst for blood is simply too great to stop what’s in motion. I like that contrast in personality types as Rhaenrya doesn’t just do as men want her to do but Alicent seems to always fall in line behind the men in her life and just goes along with their plans.

Allicent just can't stick to a single viewpoint. She doesn't support Cole and his decisions, yet still gives him her favor. Allicent is caught up performing emotional labor for people at the expense of sound policy. Aegon's team lacks unity of vision and purpose.

With her visions and foresight is it possible that Halaena didn't forgive Alicent for what she did but perhaps something she's going to do? It's not clear what the forgiveness is for, it's just assumed it was because of Cole.

HOTD is great...and for me at least its about equal to GOT at its best....I don't think any character has reached Tyrion level yet for me, but they are making up for it with the depth of quality in the rest of the cast/world. Just gonna suck when we have to wait another 2 years for another season

Alycent has Aegon and Rhaenyra also has her Aegon, which is Daemon's eldest with her, and is Aegon the Younger. But of course both would name their eldest Aegon. 😉

Gwayne came to Kings Landing on Ottos orders. They were calling on their army from Oldtown already. He already said he was on the road for 3 months, only to find his father fired. He didn't knew of the changes before he got there

Love listening to you guys! As a mother I see Rhaenera's not reading Alicent's letter differently. If a family member caused the death of my child and then sent me a letter i wouldn't rush to read it either. She lost her father, her brother has usurped her throne, she miscarried, her husband is MIA and then Luc is eaten by a dragon. You think she's prioritizing messages from the childhood ex-bestie who married her Dad, sliced her arm in anger, put her on blast about her brown haired kids and is the mother of the half brother who caused the death of her child? No. I didnt see it as arrogance or ego...she's in PAIN.😢

That last scene between Alicent and Rheanyra was put in to emphasize that Alicent isn't innocent anymore. She knows there was a mistake.

HotD is the only show this summer where I watch each episode twice for the acting and dialogue. I suppose I'd do the same with season 3 of _The Bear_ if it hadn't dropped all at once. I'd be so down to do a rewatch of _The Bear_ with you guys if you were to review each episode.

Season 2 is great for far, and it looks like episode 4 will be epic! The only thing I thing HOTD is missing compared to Game of Thrones, is you dont get to see as much of the wider world. In GOT, we got to see charcters like daenerys in exotic cities over in Qarth and Meereen, whilst following John at the Wall, the goings on in Kings Landing and Winterfell, as well as places like the Vale, Dorne etc. It feels like this season, most of the story will be be focused on a few key locations ( Kings Landing, Dragonstone , the Crownlands, Riverlands etc). However I guess this is where the war is taking place and I cant blame the showrunners either as they can only adapt what George as written. Hopefully we will get to see a more unique locations like harrenhal.
