I was absolutely blown away by this episode. Rhaenys died a dragon rider's death like her daughter wanted and Melys went out fighting. RIP to the queen that should have been. Absolutely blown away by this episode. (Yep, I said it twice lol)

Sunfyre (Aegon's dragon) is supposedly the most beautiful dragon who ever lived. He's also adored by Aegon; their bond is extremely close.

Rhaenys decided to stay because she knew that once she fled, Aemond would burn Harrenhal quickly, plus the fact that there was no guarantee that Aemond would let her fly away easily. Might as well fight all the way.

I think that Rhaenys hoped that Meleys would inflict some injuries that could keep Vhagar out of combat for awhile, fearing that otherwise, the great dragon and her rider would be a huge danger to Rhaenys' grand-daughters and husband and many others. Plus, Rhaenys had promised her queen that she would fight; not that she would and fly away when things became dangerous.

The changes from book to show can always be attributed to the fact that the book is based off of was told from the perspective of a third-party it’s supposed to be like the history of the Targaryen unlike a book that’s just telling a story so in the books Rhaenys fights both 2v1 but the show can interpret it as it was never two on one Aemond originally takes out Aegon and Rhaenys was never as good but because historian wouldn’t assume Aemond takes out Sunfyre it’s appears Rhaenys takes down 1 of the dragons but eventually loses to the numbers game

Writing wise, battle of the bastard was cheap and deeply flawed. The army teleportations and Jon's plot armor was freaking ridiculous😂 only saved by the great cinematography

@@isiahfedit’s just the the writing in rooks rest is so much damn better. Aemonds plan to make Aegon feel impotent and useless so he could ambush his brother AND whatever dragon rider team black sends was incredible to watch. Every tactic and silent bit of character writing felt fantastic. Botb has Sansa saving the day even though she neglected to tell Jon about the reinforcments from the viel, it has Jon as our main POV character in the battle, and Jon was an unkillable zombie at that point anyway so who cared if he died there, Melisandre had that shit on lock since the resurrection rules in the show version were so lax and meaningless. Rickon doesn’t zig or zag at all so Ramsey can kill him. And to top it off Ramsey gets killed without Theon being involved at all, but instead Sansa, who just wasn’t as satisfying to see kill him. This battle was the first huge action set piece in the entire series. 13 solid hours of buildup to 30 minutes of perfect payoff. And the season is only half over.

in the books rhaenys fights a 2v1 with sunfyre and vaghar. literally here sunfyre while fighting with meleys came vaghar to burn him the 2vs 1 here was against sunfyre. on top of that both sunfyre and aegon are going to continue living wtf. it was a good episode but they took the glory away from rhaenys to give it to aemond.

I dont mind the changes. They are clearly trying to show the difference the relationships brothers can have based on their actions. Daemon would never harm his brother physically, yeah he would disobey but would never raise a hand or try and bring harm upon his brother. And thats cause he had something to respect and love in Viserys, cause Viserys was more well studied then him and Viserys always took up for him and truly loved him. Whilst Aegon is a drunk and fool who has done nothing but bully aemond most his life, so aemond has no love nor respect for his brother. He is weaker in every way.

You're misunderstanding the books which are written as a collection of accounts from different historians/maesters based on witness testimony and hear-say. They aren't a 'this is definitely how events happened'. The outcomes will be the same, but the events leading up to them are going to be different.

They're doing the same thing as the end of GOT. Cool epic fights does not equal good writing! It makes absolutely no sense why Rhaenys turned around. She literally suicided for no reason AFTER the King fell from the sky with his dragon. That was a win she could have easily just left. But no they literally just wanted a cool fight for her to die. wth kinda snse does that make. And I bet they either had a better explanation for her death in the books, or they just don't describe how she dies. sigh.. Don't get me wrong. Same as with the end of GOT i'm still gonna watch for all the cool epic stuff and SOME good character writing but it just seems lazy

Its a 2v1 in the books, there was never a moment she could've ran out of it as shown in the tv series, that being said, i think i understant her thought procces here, she took aegon and his dragon out of the picture for a long time, fuck, she might even thought he was dead for good, and seeing Aemond and Vhagar on the field, she saw the opportunity to end it all right there, without a king and their best weapon, greens would have been done, she took the bullet and die for it.
