At the 2:08 mark - Addam of Hull didn't tell Rhaenyra who his father is because it is still a "secret" between Coryls, Allyn, & Addam. Rhaenys knew the truth, but she also realized it was not her place to say anything, especially to the general public about Coryls' private issues. Until Coryls acknowledges his sons & asks the Queen to legitimize them, they are just lowborn bastards (for now). That is why Rhaenys told him that they shouldn't be hidden away but rather raised in Driftmark with honor so that one of them can be named as his heir now that his two "true born" children are dead. Also it is very likely that Coryls has some Targaryen in his heritage. Back in Old Valeria & also after Ageon's conquest of Westeros, both houses of Velaryon & Targaryen intermingled with each other through marriages & affairs. Just because you have Targaryen blood doesn't automatically mean you are capable or worthy to be a dragonrider. By the way, Ulf didn't step on a dragon egg. He just stepped in the membrane that surrounds the clutch of eggs, sort of like a protective nest. Vermithor & Silverwing are a mated pair, as their former riders were King Jaeherys & Queen Alysanne. They were the two dragons that Cregan Stark mentioned in episode 1, when he told Jace about how they refused to fly beyond The Wall. Silverwing is the mother of Syrax, Rhaenyra's dragon. Here's the status of dragon count so far. The Greens have 3 that are able to fight - Vhagar, DreamFyre, & Tessarion. Sunfyre is still injured & unable to fly. While The Blacks have Syrax, Vermax, Monndancer, Vermithor, Silverwing, Caraxes, & maybe Sheep Stealer (if Rhaena is able to claim it).

You two are like the only people who somewhat understand the point Jace was trying to make Jace has been harassed by the greens and their supporters through his whole childhood because of his parentage. Having his own dragon, Vermax, was a reminder of his identity, that he actually is a legitimate Targaryen. But if any bastard could claim a dragon, what does that make him? He also has been saying through out this whole season how insecure he is about his legitimaty and how he wants to fight for it so he is seen worthy for the throne, so it's no surprise that he finally brought it up. What if those new riders just decide to switch up on them and want to have their own claim to the throne? What if Rhaenyra dies, Jace is her heir, will those men in her council and the rest of the realm that are loyal to Rhaenyra wanna fight for him? Those bastards have more Targaryen features than Jace and who is to say that the realm won't change their loyalty because of that. Let's not forget the fact that they now got dragons that are way larger than Jace's own, he would have no chance against them

Weeellll, Rhanerya just thinned the herd of Targareyn bastards by...quite a bit, thanks to Mysaria's talk with Rhae and their plan to put all the bastards together to try to earn Vermithor's respect/trust while locking them up with the 2nd largest dragon after Vhagar!!! Because that is EXACTLY what Rhae did. She heard Jace loud and clear. This whole plan was part "finding two dragon riders" and part "destroying all the bastards she can find" with Targaryen blood. And damned if she didn't succeed in that department. And what really gets me is I've watched a lot of KZbinr's reactions and not ONE of them have even figured that part out!!! Oh sure, fans may want to hate on her. Has she made mistakes..Uh, yeeah. Can she be a bit thick at times? Sure, but aren't we all? But it sure as hell doesn't make Rhae stupid. Far from it. She's still learning and taking those lessons to heart. No one wants to credit Rhae with having some brains, I swear. It's getting fucking ridiculous. Am I a Rhanerya stan? No. There are things she has done that I haven't liked at all or disagreed with. I still like her but I'm starting to like her a little less. I just hope Jace is able to make peace with his mother before the s*** really hits the fan!!! And that scene with Vermithor firing on "all cylinders" while Rhaenerya just watches in fascination, awe, her face just stone cold but her eyes just slightly glittering with a bit of cruelty and pride towards Hugh...THAT disturbed that hell out of me. I don't know if I'm ready for next Sunday's Season 2 Finale of "House of the Dragons." 🐉🐉🐉🐲🐲🐲

The messed up part is that it's not Jace's brown hair that makes him a bastard, it's his parentage. If Rhaenyra really married Harwin Strong, he would have still had brown hair, but him being a bastard (and also not black like Laenor lol) is what makes the brown hair thing feel like a bastard sign post.

About Hugh, in the book it's not mentioned who his parents are. But the show mentioned his mother to be sister to Viserys and Daemon's dad, Baelon, and that she was a wh*re in a pleasure house. In the books King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne had a daughter Saera Targaryen. She was rebellious and had several sex scandals. She was eventually sent to Old Town to join the Faith of the Seven to become septa but she escapes from there and go to Essos where she lives her life in a pleasure house (it's said that she even wore the Septa's dress while "working"). She had few bastards. Some of them even came to Great Council in Harrenhal, the election for Jaehaerys' heir where Jaehaerys declared Viserys to be his heir based on the voting. So Hugh is the bastard son of Saera Targaryen. Jaehaerys was so fed up that he even admitted she's a wh*re when Queen Alysanne spoke for her. They tried to lock her up in Red Keep but it didn't work, she escaped, tried to steal a dragon. Hugh refered to Baelon as his mother's brother and not a half-brother. So Vermithor was Hugh's grandfather Jaehaerys Targaryen's dragon first. Now his grandson's. The actor who plays Hugh and the show runner confirmed in an interview that Saera Targaryen is High's mum.

Okay, just tracking the armies...Jace secured the Starks coming from the North and possibly the Knights of the Vale (unclear if Lady Jane is going to hold up her end of the bargain since she got stiffed on a dragon), added to the Riverlords assembled by Daemon and all backed by the Valaryon fleet. Meanwhile, the Hightower host and Jason's Lanister army are coming in from the west to add to Cole's remaining forces coming from King's Landing, with the possibility of more coming from the Stormlands, though I don't think they've been mentioned since last season. Then you have the Triarchy which Aemond wanted to "find common cause" with. That's as many as 9 different armies on the move, and that's saying nothing about the dragons.

The Hightower army heading up from Oldtown is getting attacked by numerous Reach lords who are supporting Rhaenyra (including the Beesburys since they're still pissed at what happened to Lyonel in S1) and the Greyjoys are lurking on the Iron Islands waiting to see what side to jump in on.

Hugh's mother is most likely Princess Saera Targaryen, who was the daughter of King Jaehaerys I. In Fire & Blood, Saera is described as tempestuous, demanding, and disobedient. After a scandal and years of fighting with King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne, Princess Saera was sent to Oldtown. From there she fled across the Narrow Sea to Lys and started working in a pleasure house. Saera was known to have at least 3 bastard sons, but may have had more.

You guys quickly became my go to reactors when it comes to HotD. You both are very perceptive and intuitive, but also straight to the point. I’ve seen so much hate towards Jace this episode, it’s insane. I’m glad you understand why he had this conversation. Rhaenyra sees the short term benefits: empowering her army to win the war. But Jace is thinking further: when the war is over and her reign ended, what then? As long as she lives, he will remain an heir to the throne. But as soon as she dies, another bastard with a dragon and more Targaryenish appearance might start another war. It’s like with Viserys all over again. Everything went down the hill after his death. Assuming of course, Rheanyra gets to sit on the throne in the first place and won’t get stabbed in the back earlier. Then again, Mysaria also had a point: nobility has nothing to do with honor, so it’s a gamble really. And you may be correct about this blood linage mattering for the dragons. Adam is Leanor’s half-brother, so it might be why Seasmoke chose him. Hugh revealed this episode that he is the son of Jaehaerys’s daughter, so now he rides his grandfather’s dragon. And Ulf… well. There was an outrage among the book purists when he claimed a few episodes ago that he is the son of Baelon, Viserys’s and Daemon’s father. Baelon loved his wife dearly and never took another wife after Alyssa’s death. My take on that, is that Ulf doesn’t really know who’s son he really is, but he’s not entirely bullshitting people. He might also be Jaehaerys’s grandchild, just not necessarily from Baelon’s side. It was probably just a more thrilling tale to tell his drinking buddies. In either case, he would be now riding the dragon of her grandmother, Alysanne.

Hugh's Mom might be one of King Jaehearys' (apparently he had 13 children!). Likely Princess Saera who was banished from court. Ulf's father is Baelon (Daemon and Viserys' father) who was brother to Saera so that makes them cousins. So, yeah, that blood is still pretty close--not too diluted. Adam of Hull from House Velaryon--although House Velaryon aren't dragonlords, they are of Valyria and the house have inter-married with Targaryens for centuries.

Feel really really bad for Jace. Yeah Rhaenyra has to because otherwise she would have to take herself, Jace, Baela, Addam, and Daemon and bum rush Vhaegar and at least half of those on her side would die. But for Jace, he sees that Rhaenrya was the named heir but that it was contest to the point of war by their own family and by other high born lords just because she is a woman. So he rightfully feels like he’s in the same position as heir and that once she dies people will contest it to the point of war because of his black hair, ESPECIALLY if there’s other silver haired basterds with dragons who look more Targaryen then he. Really feel for Jace. Do want to see that with Addam and Seasmoke there chances against Vhaegar without Silverwing and Vermithor were great but still risky because she does not want to lose Jace or Baela or herself.

It angers me to no end how willing everyone is to assume Rhae NEEDED more Dragon Riders. Let's be CLEAR, Syrax & Caraxes CAN take Vhagar on 2 v 1. Caraxes is the second most battle hardened Dragon is the realm behind Vhagar! And he's not THAT much smaller based on there flight together in season 1. Caraxes is just over half the size of Vhagar. He & Syrax CAN take the big girl without anymore Dragon's needed. Daeron is too far away for his dragon to count in the fight & Haelena hasn't ridden her Dragon once this season. She's no battle hardened Dragonrider & while Rhae might not be either, she's far more experienced with her Dragon & Haelena is with hers. So even if Aemond for some reason brought his sister to a fight with him against Daemon & Rhae she would lose too. Especially if Baela & Jace were there with Daemon & Rhae. That said, Jace planned for highborn people with Targ blood to ride dragons. They'd be more easily vetted & relied on to keep oaths. And they'd have no claim to the Throne to threaten Jace as heir. His plan was for LOYAL people to get on the Dragons like the commander of her guard. Not randoms whose loyalties can not be assured. They no NOTHING about Huge & Ulf. Addam was a lucky catch because his loyalty CAN be assured based on his father being Hand to Rhae & his beloved brother fighting for the blacks. Addam is the only one of the 2 new riders who can be truly relied on. Jace is pointing out how stupid it is to give lowborn people who've lived poor low lives dragons! Because now they'll have true power & may want to use said power to further their own gains. Huge knocked a guy out to get food in ep 6. That guy probably had family too! Huge's daughter is dead & his wife doesn't support his decisions. Who knows what this guy's loyalties are! And Ulf we know virtually nothing about. Does he have family? It doesn't appear so. Just bar friends hyping him up. Hell he probably agreed to go be bait in King's Landing just to show off to his buddies. Where does his allegiance lie? We don't know! Now Huge has the second biggest dragon & Ulf has a fairly large beast himself who is very close to Big V. Rhae should be backing up my boy Jace. He's holding it down & is one of the most important black members. He got then the Twins, secured the Starks, Presented a plan to get LOYAL dragon riders when it became clear Rhae didn't want to reconcile with Daemon yet. Councils Rhae to reconcile because he knows they NEED Daemon. He correctly chides Rhae for being stupid & sneaking into King's Landing & almost dying. He correctly advises Rhae NOT to go to Rook's Rest. Jace is on point. He should be the one Rhae goes to privately NOT Lady M! Now.. y'all did better than most reactors at catching Jace's true arguments. But I think you over valued his insecurities. YES, he's worried about his own claim & his legitimacy. But he's not blinded by it, his plans & his critiques are still smart & valid. They're not aimless negativity.

Corlys is not Addam's dad. Corlys is his grandsire. Addam is Laenor's bastard. Corlys doesn't have Targaryen blood that is needed to bond with a dragon which Addam acquired from Laenor. Addam's mom was Corlys and Laenor's sidechick. There was a time when Laenor just reached puberty, Corlys brought his son to the seasnake's sidechick(Addam and Alyn's mom) in order for his son Laenor to get experience. It created a seed which is Addam. Laenor felt disgusted with it so his preference was turned towards men. So Alyn is like Addam's half brother and uncle.

Sorry this is completely unrelated but I wanted to let you know some things about Legend of Vox Machina/CR. I was rewatching your reaction videos. First, season 3 of the animation series is returning Oct 3. I'm looking forward to your coverage. Second, they have started a new series for campaign 3 live action show called critical role abridged. They understand that most people don't have 4-5 hours to watch the new episodes so their Lore Keeper Dani Carr and Marisha are releasing edited versions that are about 1 hour long. It keeps all the juicy points, fights, and dialogue but cuts out the adding up dice and looking up spells. If you want to get into a new campaign that is small enough for easy consumption, I recommend checking it out.

To help clear up ulf and hugh relations ulf is the bastard son of baelon who is the father to daemon and viserys. Hugh on the other hand is the grandson of king jahaerys his mother was saera targaryen who is the sister to baelon as mentioned above baelon is saeras brother and father to daemon viserys and ulf. The dragon vermithor was king jahaerys's dragon. The one ulf finds named silverwig was alysannes dragon she was king jahaerys's wife.

Never thought I could hate someone more than Christen Cole or Aemond but , I mute my computer or t.v every time that White Worm is around . She's a snake and Rhaenyra will regret this trust she has in her, (shades of Little Finger). She has the gules to question why Rhaenyra should trust Adam when she was just working with the greens a few months ago until Larys burned her house and Rhaenyra found her a$$ in jail where Daemond left her. Corlys has two maybe more kids with a woman and he never found out anything about her and he can't even acknowledge the kids.

That is not how that scene went down. Corlys told Alyn that his brother has claimed a dragon, and was hinting at Alyn trying to claim one as well, since it may be in the blood, to which he refused saying, "I am of salt and sea," meaning he has no interest in it.

Aegon dragon is not dead but she will not fly again lost a wing. They still have halaenas dragon and daerons dragon on the green a long with vahgar. The blacks have vermithor, silverwing, rhaenyras dragon, seasmoke, baelas dragon, Jac's dragon, daemons dragon, and if rhaena gets sheepsteeler.
