Rhaenyra absolutely did lie to Alicent. She not only said that she didn't have sex with Deamon, but also that he didn't touch her and that she is still a virgin. And she did it swearing by her dead mother's grave. Alicent now knows she lied about the last thing, even invoking the memory of her mother. If she lied about that one, she might have lied about the rest too. Especially given the obvious flirting between her and Daemon during the wedding. In Alicent's eyes it proves that Rhaenyra is manipulative, and not trust worthy. It means Otto was right all along and lost his job and his status because of that, while Alicent stood for and defended Rheanyra at the expense of her own family. It means that Alicent cannot count on Rhaenyra to be merciful and spare Alicent's children when her reign is inevitabily challanged. This episode marks the transformation of Alicent into a political player and the birth of the Greens - one of the fractions of the upcoming civil war.

Regardless of whether Rhaenyra technically lied, Alicent believed that Rhaenyra swore that she was still a maiden - that is what Alicent reported to the king. So, Alicent now believes that Rhaenyra lied to her.

The ending montage was my favorite scene so far. Give me the aesthetics of the red hue of the weirdwood tree glowing in twilight, give me the flickering lights, give me the gloomy ambience of a GoT wedding with an equally gloomy soundtrack & it’s A1! The slightly overlooked heartfelt exchange Otto & Alicent had at the beginning was the most significant moment of the episode imo. Otto’s not wrong. You either hope for Rhaenyra’s mercy in the future or you act now. It's the Tywin Jaime "we can establish a dynasty that last a thousand years" moment for the show. The wedding sets up the first chess pieces for Dance of Dragons. *Rhaenyra and Laenor were being told their wedding vows, but it was Alicent and Criston who were getting “married”.*

I get what your saying about her responsibility as the heir, and that it would be throwing away "her whole life", but he is a man who comes from an unimportant family, who was able to climb to a prestigious position as a Kings Guard, his honor is his life's work. She slept with him knowing if he was found out he would be castrated tortured and killed. To her it appears that this was a fling, my point being, he has thrown away his life's work for her. I'm not saying she is wrong to say that she has a duty and say I can't go, but empathy goes both ways, and the fact is everything he stood for his ruined (obviously some of that is his fault).

Still kinda pissed that Daemon just disappears in the chaos and left Rhaenyra there. Like it’s not even about it being the perfect time to elope with her like she dared him to, she could’ve DIED being crushed in the chaos, you’d think Daemon would at least protect her. So did he run off and left her AGAIN, or they got pulled apart by the crowd as it got crazy I wonder.

The disruptive entrance, preceded by drums I believe was to draw attention from other matters and conversations for the arrival of the groom, soon to marry the Princess. Since we are in her home, she's already received guests, but the guests have not yet received the groom and his family.

Strange how they changed Rhea Royces character from a deeply unpleasant, ugly, shrewish, and frigid woman that died unmourned by anyone in a hunting accident that had nothing to do with Daemon to a strong pretty woman whose only crime was not taking any of Daemons bother. Book Daemon was just callously indifferent to her death, he didn’t kill her, he just refused to go see her as she lay dying for 9 days.

Her father has an alternative heir, Rhaenyra giving it up wouldn't betray anything. She said time and time again she didn't want it, and this was her out. But she really was lying to herself and others because she really does want the power. But then so does Alicent. She knew exactly what she was doing for her father manipulating her way to be queen even if it wasn't the best choice for the realm. And now she's fully embracing her father's conniving, even if she pretended she didn't before. My problem with Alicent (the character not the actress, the actress is brilliant), is she pretends to be so moral and now above Rhaenyra, but she really isn't. They are both playing in the mud and there is no good or bad guy on either side of those two. The only possible 'good guy' was Cole. But he's fully thrown that away now as well.

Allicent has done nothing but make the best choices to further herself and her family. Rhaenyra has not been making those same decisions/sacrifices. In fact, she has been doing the exact opposite until this episode. Now Alli learns she got her father fired for sticking up for her lying friend. I dont think Alli necessary looks down on Rhae. She is just pissed and her statement this episode was "I'm going to play the game like the rest of you".

I think you're correct. Rhaenyra seems to be at the center of everyone's scheme or obsession: the King, Otto, Daemon, Alicent, Sir Criston, and even Larys Strong. And a man was even killed by a boy when she was simply reviewing possible suitors for her hand. So its obvious that Rhaenyra's continued existence will cause even more chaos for Westeros.

This episode has sealed all of their fates and the path they will walk down will lead to the civil war that we all know is coming. Also Trixy I know that you are part of GenZ. But please remember Rhaenyra told Alicent 5 truths and 2 lies(Like when she told Alicent that Daemon never touched her and when she was still a virgin). Plus this is a theme in GOT and HOD and that is each single character had a choice and that was to run away and they didn't take it for one reason or another and some of them ended up dying and others wanting power who became some of the wort rulers in GOT history. If Rhaenyra wasn't named heir then she would've ran way with Cole. But now she wants power and I know how it turns out and that is why I keep on telling people to not get attached to any of these characters and when they get older you will see why later down the road. Also this episode proved once and for all that Daemon is impotent(episodes 1,4 and 5 have told that he can't perform sexually) and so he can't have any children of his own and so Lenor will be the father of Rhaenyra's children.

Sadly, Otto Hightower is right. He knew this was the path all along. He purposefully put Alicent in this position. But he's right. Rhaenyra would have to kill Alicent's male children to ever have any chance at truly being the one power and Queen if the Seven Kingdoms as her male children would have a stronger claim. Alicent had to make a choice. Putting the "Green" dress on for all to see was her declaring war on the succession and Rhaenyra. A civil war has begun. Green vs. Blacks. That scene was epic.
