In Game of Thrones the Velaryons are not wiped out but their power has been reduced a lot. They are vassals of Stannis and fight for him. The current Lord Velaryon has a bastard named Aurane that Cersei thinks he is very attractive and looks very similar to rhaegear targaryen with his valyrian features.

A lot of people are getting annoyed at Ser Criston, but him acting this way is very understandable. People have to understand that Kingsguard at this period in time in Westeros, unlike the period of time in Game of Thrones, were the paragons of virtue, honor, and combat prowess. So it's not only that he's heart broken because the woman he's in love with rejected him, he's also heartbroken because his oath of chastity has been broken. Going back to episode 4, when they took off his white cloak which is the symbol of the Kingsguard, the camera really focused on that, and it's like he was being stripped off his honor. To those who want to get a sense of how these old school Kingsguard are, type 'Tower of Joy' in KZbin and watch the result from hobani, not the terrible live action adaptation from Game of Thrones.

The ending montage was my favorite scene of the series so far. Give me the aesthetics of the red hue of the weirdwood tree glowing in twilight, give me the flickering lights, give me the gloomy ambience of a GoT wedding with an equally gloomy soundtrack & it’s A1! The slightly overlooked heartfelt exchange Otto & Alicent had at the beginning was the most significant moment of the episode imo, other than Viserys dropping. Otto is right. You either hope for Rhaenyra’s mercy in the future or you act now. It's the Tywin Jaime "we can establish a dynasty that last a thousand years" moment. The wedding sets up the first chess pieces for Dance of Dragons. *Rhaenyra and Laenor were being told their wedding vows, but it was Alicent and Criston who were getting “married”.*

Damn ! What a rollercoaster ! For the first 4 episodes, I was completely struck by Milly Alcock for her incredible portrayal of Rhaenyra, but this episode, Emily Carey just completely stole the spotlight as young Alicent ! You can almost see every thought she has on her face when Ser Criston confessed. I believe this episode was the last one we see these 2 actresses (or is it the next one ?) before they get replaced by Emma d'Arcy and Robyn Cooke, and I'm gonna sorely miss them. They probably got the best end of the deal, though : Be part of Earth's most massive TV series of all time, have their career srpingboarded by it, AND be there only long enough to make a solid inmpression BUT short enough so that none of them stays on for seeing any of their characters having to go through a horrible death ^^.

The more I think about it the more I see how destroyed Christen Cole feels. When he initially confesses to Alicent he's not afraid or regretful. He just sounds dead. He's not asking to be spared of physical torture, he's asking her to have him killed to spare him from the shame and guilt he's feeling. All the way back there he was already having suicidal thoughts and suddenly his blow up at the wedding seems more feasible. He had likely decided to kill himself before he even started the fight.

I think it's a mixture of Criston's self hatred (he fully wanted Alicent to execute him, no doubt) projecting into external violence, and probably fear that Joffrey will reveal he broke his oath. As mentioned by Criston, breaking your oath of chastity doesn't result in a quick death. And maybe vindictiveness played a part too, he can't have Rhaenyra? Laenor can't have Joffrey.

So we are getting a 10 YEAR time jump next episode and sadly are saying goodbye to Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as young Rhaenyra and Alicent respectively. I hope they both get Emmy nominations.🤞🤞 A lot of people will say that Criston Cole was being impetus or immature, but if you see it from his point of view he was put in a no win scenario, and I feel kinda sorry for him. He was completely fine being just a knight and even a close confidant to Rhaenyra. But she seduced him into breaking his vow, then he tried to convince her to run away with him and get out of the Game Of Thrones and instead was told he could just be a side piece. And on top of all that Laenor’s lover had to be a gossipy idiot and tell him that he new his secret. He didn’t want to risk it so in a fit of blind fury and frustration he caved his skull in. But the one I most feels sorry for is Viserys, he just wants to be a good king and keep the peace in the realm. And now on his daughter’s wedding night he has to make it into a shotgun wedding in order to move past this tragedy. Paddy Considine BETTER a get an Emmy for this role.

I'm curious what was the marriage really like between Daemon and Rhea? It's never really described in the book. Rhea comes off kinda butch/lesbo like Yara Greyjoy. Like an annoying Karen. Daemon didn't say a single word to her. She kept running her mouth and then he kills her. He was looking like he was going to spare her life until she said, "I knew you couldn't finish." I can imagine that's why Daemon hated her and caused his ED. He was only forced to marry her. I liked that Rhea threw that sheep line back at his face. And saying he couldn't finish meant they did sleep together but she's aware he can't climax. Perhaps the root of that is really because he was married to her! Not that she deserved to be killed but we don't really know the story between them. We can only make assumptions. Otto described Rhea in the first episode as a good woman. Perhaps to get rid of Daemon off the small council but perhaps she really was? All we ever got was Daemon referred to her as his Bronze B*tch and that sheep are prettier than the women in the Vale. That's what the book said. Did Daemon ever love Rhea even for a second? How about Rhea towards him? Was she infertile? That's why he hated her? She's pretty. I guess Daemon hates forced marriages. Rhea Royce only lasted as long as a commercial break in this series. The actress who portrayed her is really quite attractive. But Daemon seems to be attracted to Targs. Laena is half. While Rhaenyra's grandparents were brother-sister. Her parents were first cousins. DEMON Targaryen is attracted to dragon blood. He loves them female dragon riders.

Christian Cole is a Kings guard, and sworn t defend the king and his heir. Upon hearing a claim against Rheanarys, that could cause harm to her claim, he took the necessary steps to protect her against said claim. There is no danger to Christian here, because he knew the king would back him in protecting the heirs virtue.
