character changes were necessary , it wasn't that necessary but they did it so we can have more understanding of the character. see it like the story actually begins from ep.5 but they decided to give the character development of there younger selves. lazy writing could easily start the story from ep 5.

Season 8 had some of the most dodgy writing and underwhelming conclusions I've seen in any HBO series, it went against years of character and storyline build-up. D&D rushed the final season so they could go and produce Star Wars movies, but they butchered s8 so bad they got dropped and now no one in Hollywood would hire them, good riddance.

@@huzarion3814 I don't see a very marked feminism but rather a historical parallel with a Greek kingdom the ptolemaic kingdom just like the targaryens they get married between them there were also many civil wars for power between a brother and a sister -Cleopatra II vs Ptolemy VIII - Cleopatra VII vs Ptolemy XIII and even against mother and son or vice versa - Cleopatra III vs Ptolemy IX (In this case Ptolemy VIII had named his wife/niece heiress but the people forced her to co-reign with her son and when she lost her hold on him she dismissed him ) - Berenice IV vs Ptolemy XII there is even a queen of this dynasty (Cleopatra IV) who brought her army into a war in syria to overthrow her sister and her husband who ruled it by allying with the king's half-brother and had tried before that to Ally herself with her brother to fight their mother and their brother who had repudiated her for her influence but for fear of their mother her brother did not help her. this dynasty was extremely powerful and all these wars have weakened their power like the targaryens in short, all that to say that there is nothing feminist in house of the dragon

Been watching it and think the actors and characters are decent, but I still don't find any nearly as compelling as the likes of Robert Baratheon, Bronn, Tyrion, Tywin, Davos, Oleanna, Sandor, Jorah, Brienne, Varys, Joffrey, etc, as in the early GoT seasons with the exception of Daemon. Hoping that will change in the future but I'm six episodes in and I'm not quite in love with the characters as I was with GoT after the first six.

Really strong start so far. Matt Smith turned my fears about him on their head in the space of one scene. All the cast is spot on actually, and from ep 1 it's got that thrones vibe where you can put any of these two characters in a room together, and sparks will fly, sometimes literally as their blades clash. Keep it up, HBO. The story is there in Fire and Blood. All you have to do is tell it.

The original show emphasizing the low fantasy, medieval aspect of GOT made it feel very grounded and real despite having magic which was a huge part of the appeal. I think they understand this and have struck a good balance when adding more colour and making things more accurate to the books though so I can't complain. It adds a bit more contrast. EDIT: lads, the OP said *"everything was too dark and dull"* in the original show. I don't think colourful armours are unrealistic. I was just saying that that general aesthetic was a big part of the show's success and this is an appropriate way to add colour without it looking too high fantasy. The dreary Northern countryside was my favourite part of the show. Maybe it's because I'm Irish and it was shot here. haha
