The significance of Viserys not telling Daemon about the dream A Song of Ice and Fire is that Daemon was his heir a while before Rhaenyra was and he still wasn't told about it which shows Viserys never saw him as a serious candidate. @pastychong Жыл бұрын
@@mathmexican4234 It’s not about the prophecy. Viserys told it to Rhaenyra, but not to Daemon, because Viserys didn’t see Daemon as a legitimate heir. Daemon really wanted approval from Viserys back in the day, so it stings a bit knowing he was just a placeholder, nothing more. Rhaenyra brings it up as if they both know about it, and she talks like it’s extremely important (it’s partly why she’s hesitant to go to war), and Daemon is hearing about this for the first time. So knowing his brother kept that from him, and the fact that Rhaenyra is showing weakness despite losing her birthright sets him off, and he lashes out.

While it does not at all excuse him, I think Daemon choking Rhaenyra is still in character because she just gave him definitive proof that Viserys never considered him a proper heir to the throne. Rhaenrya assumed he knew because if Viserys ever planned on making Daemon the next king he would have told him the prophecy, the same way he did Rhaenyra. So when she says “he never told you…” she just realized all of this. Daemon’s been hearing people whisper about how he’s a reckless hothead and debaucher for years but he always had the assurance that he had the makings of a king, so he didn’t let it bother him. Now he realizes that his assurances were false, and that everyone was right about him all along and Viserys knew it. Still does not excuse him physically abusing Rhaenyra, but that’s my interpretation of why it’s still in character for him

@@BrendanBeckett I appreciate that line of thinking but with how petty and vindictive Daemon has been throughout the season I don’t find it hard to believe at all that he would hear “when he named me heir” and then mentally add “and not you.” I believe he genuinely loves Rhaenyra and wants her to have the throne now, but earlier when Viserys called him out for toasting the “King for a day” in that brothel, Viserys implied that he was going to choose an heir. Daemon’s response was “I’m your heir.” Daemon holds grudges forever, so I believe it still rankles him that that his behavior cost him whatever chance he could have had at being king. I still believe when he realized that Rhaenyra was told about a prophecy meant for monarchs only, and that Rhaenyra assumed he knew about it, it broke him a little. He’s turning into more of a good person now that he’s married her, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely left behind his petty insecurity. Of course, all of this is only my interpretation of the story. I can try and defend why I believe it but I don’t want to force anyone to believe it. Part of the reason why Rhaenys doesn't burn the whole Green faction in the Dragonpit is because of the taboo against kinslaying. Killing someone you're related to is one of the absolute worst things you can do in this universe. Its why reason why Viserys was all "Daemon? Murder me? What kind of grass you smoking?" Aside from starting the war, Aemond knows that killing Luke was some seriously bad juju. The Blacks have more dragons, but their dragons are younger, smaller and less powerful. Daemon was checking in with Vermithor, the mount of the Old King Jaehaerys, to see if he'd be amenable to accepting a new rider, or whether he'd gone completely feral in the previous 30 years. Vhagar is the oldest and largest living dragon. Dragons never stop growing provided they're given light and space. The bond between dragon and rider is special. Dragons aren't horses. Some dragons never submit to any rider, some are 1 and done. Aemond is Vhagar's 4th rider. Each rider can only tame 1 dragon at a time and each dragon will only submit to 1 rider at a time. Viserys never tamed another dragon after Balerion's death. Vhagar is approaching Balerion's size and age at this point. Balerion died at about 200 years old. Vhagar is about 185 or so. Dragons have also been known to take on some of their rider's personality traits. Imagine Vhagar as a very old, bad-tempered, trigger-happy Vietnam War veteran and Arrax shooting a BB gun at her house. Vhagar just went nuts.

It was the other bald guy that was focused more in the episode, who was loyal to Rhaenyra but bent the knee in front of Otto after Otto had the other loyalists taken away. Then he tried to escape and Larys stopped him at the gates and delivered him to Otto. Otto then asked him where he was going and said for them to take him away to the Kings Justice, which is the executioner. This guy was also in episode 6 and created Rhaenyra after her pregnancy when she was walking with Lanor to see the queen. And then he was in episode 7 as the only guy who greeted Rhaenyra and Daemon when they came back to Kings Landing to deal with Lucerys claim to Driftmark.

Viserys wasn't talking about his son Aegon at all when he last spoke to Allicent (Name spelling will be peek questionable on my part lol) He was delusional on his deathbed & believed he was talking to Rhaenerya. Y'all didn't put it in the ep 8 reaction but when he was talking to Rhae alone he called her his ONLY child. Not most beloved, not best, but ONLY child. Meaning Aegon/Aemond/Helaena were nothing to him compared to Rhae. Now I believe he loved them too just rightly put Rhae on a wholely different level We all know visions in the GOT universe are hilariously vague & even more so when it comes to a random getting one instead of magic practitioner like the Red Women. King V was not a magic user & didn't even ride a dragon during his reign. I say that to say I think his vision was about Rhae's kids not his own. I feel like y'all misunderstood Otto at some point. There isn't much if any good in him. I think the last time he genuinely tried doing anything to prevent bloodshed was in ep 3 when he tried convincing Viserys to have Rhae marry her brother Aegon. If King V had agreed then Otto would've gotten pretty much everything he wanted. Aegon would be on or near the Throne as King Consort & the Hightower blood would be forever established in the Royal bloodline. Sure he might have tried nudging the King towards making Aegon the proper heir but I don't think he would've pushed it to bloodshed if V refused. I believe that was the last time Otto tried avoiding usurping Rhae. Everything he did since then was to further his goal of having Rhae removed from the line of heirs. I mean the things this man's done, forcing his young daughter to get with an older guy, he manipulated King V the whole time like: Convincing him not to go see Daemon in Ep 2 cause Otto knew they'd talk & squash beef, dropping the "I don't envy you" line to push him from marrying Laena, trying to get Allicent to convince him to not let Rhae be heir. There's even a seemingly subtle hint he may have had something to do with King V's father dying? Though idk. I mean there's pretty much no pure person on the Greens side except the daughter Haelena. Cole sucks ass. The twin who stayed only did so cause he swore an oath, not because he believed in Aegon. Every single one of those counselors who sided with usurping suck. Larys is a bad person. I mean it's easier to count the good people on their side than the bad. But on the blacks side? The actual good twin. Rhae herself, King V was basically a black, Daemon's kids, the Valaryons neither of which are evil in my opinion, Laenor is a spiritual Black since he always backed Rhae, Literally ALL of Rhae's kids, I mean it's the opposite as the greens since it's easier to count bad people on the Black's side. I know a LOT of people claim not to be on either side but i call BS, most of those people are just to scared of pissing off their audience. I normally route for the villains of the story but here, the Heroes are better. And they are the Blacks factually. And as to Daemon, he's the only one who can be considered bad, though I see him as gray. Do I wish he didn't choke Rhae? Obviously, but I don't think it's the sign of things to come. I'd be willing to bet all my life's money that we never see him lay a hand on her again. That was a very specific situation where he was taking anger against his brother who never truly supported him (Which he saw as further evidenced since he was never told about the prophesy, was never made Hand even after Lord Strong was killed which is trash, V should've offered the role to Daemon not brought Otto back.) & turning it on Rhae wrongly. She didn't hold it against him, he was consoling her in the end. They were holding hands, he put the crown on her head & bent the knee to her. He defended her children despite knowing they're bastards. Even made those 2 knights swear oaths to Jace as heir. Has shown no intension of trying to whistle his 2 children with Rhae into the Heir roles. He's shown consistently that he supports the Blacks & more so Rhae. It was a horrible thing that he choked her but I don't believe we'll see that sort of thing again. I could be wrong & will take all this back if so. But until then I stand by what I'm saying. He didn't do it as a power play since he's shown no want to overpower her in his actions & even during that scene she stands up to him immediately after the choke by confirming he was never told the truth & therefore wasn't truly the heir. And he didn't try lording any power over her. So I stand by he only did that cause he was wrongly projecting his anger towards his brother onto her. Oh man it'd be SO fucking hype if Daemon got 2 dragons. I don't remember him singing to Virm in the book at all. So that's new to the show. But unfortunately I think he's just trying to get Virm warmed up to having a rider again. Not trying to claim him himself. And to those who say "It's pointless having 2 dragons cause you can only ride 1 & won't be able to command the other" I call bullshit mother fucker. It's been shown CLEARLY that the dragons CAN for a FACT have a magically link to their riders. Syrax knew Rhae was in pain even while completely separated, Caraxes knew Daemon was hit with an arrow even though there's no way he naturally felt it, Caraxes has on 2 occasions shown up on queue when Daemon needed him without Daemon giving any specific commands. (Once in Ep 2 & against this episode when Daemon confronted the 2 Knights). I'm not going as far as to say Daemon could send mind codes to Virm while still riding Caraxes but I'm betting if he had total control over both of them the one he's not riding would still be able to feel what Daemon would or wouldn't want him to do. So for that reason I think it is possible Daemon could have 2 Dragons. I want it to happen, I pray that it does! But I don't think it will.

In the book it was a little more than a week. viserys dead body lied in his chamber like for week while Alicent prepared for the Coronation. Not even the Silent sisters was alloved to see his body to prepare it for the funeral. Viserys body rotted there for days. And Alicent was way older than Rhaenyra, they were never friends, Alicen was really hateful toward Rhaenyra, who was just a child. Even Laena is older than Rhaenyra in the book. The reason why Vhagar is so large is because she's very old, about 170 years old by this stage. Arrax by comparison is only in his teens. Dragons keep growing as they age, so the older they get the bigger they get. Vhagar was born before the Targaryens conquered Westeros. She's the last of the 3 dragons used to complete the conquest. She's first generation. All of the other dragons in the show are younger. Vermithor (the big one that Daemon sang to), is generation 2 (he was King Jaeherys's dragon). Caraxes, (Daemon's dragon) is generation 3 and smaller again, although he's still one of the bigger ones in the story.

The Daemon put his hand on Rhaenyra was it because of the prophecy because viserys didn't tell him (this doesn't exist in the books the Writers vented in the series) I understand the fight we both have because they don't talk like that on the same page, make the daemon put his hand on Rhaenyra, I think that was over the top, it wasn't necessary and the moment the daemon lets go of rhaenyra, you can see in the eyes of the daemon and Rhaenyra that they are both suffering and Rhaenyra says she never told you that and she smirks because she's realizing that the viserys chose her as heir to the throne because viserys didn't tell the daemon and Rhaenyra thought viserys had told him because the daemon had 10 years as heir and Viserys and after those 10 years, viserys never told him so he keeps imagining in the daemon's head how my brother who i loved so much never trusted me right now the daemon must be very hurt because daemon always wanted to show his worth to viserys and he loves his brother the daemon and a person who he has a hot head, he is proud, but he also has feelings, but sometimes he ends up expressing it wrong, then the daemon loses another child because he already lost one, then he discovers that his brother died Then later he discovers that his brother never trusted him and that it hurts his heart and daemon is feeling all of this but he ends up putting everyone else these feelings in rhaenyra who is not to blame it's the moment he lets go she sees his eyes of sadness and before he leaves if you notice he looks down he looks at her belly Then he remembers the daughter they lost, Daemon didn't stay with Rhaenyra because he didn't want to make the same choice he made with Laena the daemon has truama in fact the daemon always had for those who don't know the daemon's mother died in childbirth so the daemon already has a trauma because he never wanted to have children, so the daemon didn't want to be with Rhaenyra so he wouldn't make the same choice there when Rhaenyra loses the child Rhaenyra Stays with the daughter since the daemon goes to the beach to suffer there that reminded me in the first episode of the throne scene there is a daemon and viserys is the daemon tells viserys that each person suffers in a different way, and it reminds me of the scene the two are suffering each alone but rhaenyra and daemon are grieving for their daughter unfortunately we didn't see much of the other side of the daemon this season because the writers and HBO preferred not to show in my opinion the most wronged is Matt Smith Mano he made several scenes of the daemon showing the sentimental side of the daemon him hugging his daughters is him on the beach grieving for the death of his daughter with Rhaenyra and he spends hours and hours on the floor grieving for visenya's death and we simply received in this episode just a quick scene of him grieving for his daughter in the book it says a lot that the daemon is a great father and that he loved his two Wives Laena and Rhaenyra unlike the series which showed very little and I think it's really sad because they're not showing the real daemon Of course he's hot headed and he's crazy but man he loves his family he would never hurt his family until the actor himself says that the daemon would give his life for Viserys is Rhaenyra and very sad what they are doing to this character. The Scene at the end was matt's idea he had an idea that who should break the news of luke's death should be the daemon there the writers and emma give up the idea there they did, if you notice it at the time of the scene when daemon enters in the room rhaenyra's attention goes all to the daemon because she knows that something has happened and on the way the daemon is approaching rhaenyra you notice that he puts a hand on his face indicating that he cried there when he got closer to rhaenyra he didn 't even be able to look us in her eyes I'm sorry for Rhaenyra, she lost her father and didn't even say goodbye to her father and didn't even go to the funeral, it's not even known if it was because she didn't attend Viserys' funeral and even more Rhaenyra lost two children Luke is Visenya, In the Book Rhaenyra She blames the greens for the death of her baby and if you think she's right because she lost the baby it was because of the greens, her own brother stole her throne is Alicent hid the death of Viserys , Rhaenyra is pregnant, we all know that one woman cannot take too much emotion or stress because it is dangerous for the baby and she got the news right away. She lost the throne, Losing her father was a lot of emotion and stress for Rhaenyra all because of the Greens, so yes, the Greens were to blame for her daughter's death, she would be the first daughter Rhaenyra would have with Daemon. 7:19 Daemon thinks Viserys was murdered because the greens made Aegon king and they did it all too quickly and locked everyone up in prison, not to mention Viserys is dead and all this is suspicious, so of course Daemon or anyone else is going to think that Viserys was murdered because the Greens hid Viserys' death and they quickly put Aegon on the throne, And when no one says anything to Rhaenyra that her father died then it's very suspicious so I understand Daemon's side he's upset and angry is that now he wants revenge that's what we can't forget that Daemon and Rhaenyra are in mourning but I also understand Rhaenyra's side of not wanting to go to war what she was doing is right a king has to keep peace and Rhaenyra I was trying several times to not go to war and not have blood, but now it's too late now it's war because of the greens is that Rhaenyra lost a lot and now she has to fight for her throne and for the lives of her children 9:20 what Rhaenyra said in that scene to me doesn't make sense she said that Daemon is crazy and that he's fighting his own war if you remember right in episode 7 Rhaenyra tells Daemon that she needs him and that she couldn't do this alone , so she's asking him for help, here comes this scene where Rhaenyra says Daemon is waging his own war for me It doesn't make sense, Daemon is protecting his family, he's doing what she asked him to do in episode 7, I think it was a Script Hole because it doesn't make sense in my opinion 15:27 This scene with Rhaenyra was very beautiful, you can see that it was very different from Aegon, the two scenes are different, the music in both scenes is very good, no one can deny that, in the scene with Aegon, no one gets on their knees for him, in the scene with Rhaenyra everyone they get on their knees because she is the true heir to the Iron Throne, and I also noticed the reference in episode 8 when the crown of viserys fell and it was Daemon who placed the crown on viserys and now it is Daemon putting the crown on his wife his Queen 18:59 It makes reference to Episode 2, the difference between the two scenes and that in Episode 2 Rhaenyra was on Otto's side, now in this scene Rhaenyra is on Daemon's side 21:04 This scene references Episode 1, when Rhaenyra rips off a piece of the Book and gives it to Alicent. My favorite characters from HOTD I have many more My favorite characters in First place is Second place is Rhaenyra is Daemon, What are your favorite characters? I hope you post your reaction to the second season of House of the Dragon

I don't get the weird defense of Aemond. Yeah, he was bullied for not having a dragon, that sucks, but he stole Rhaena's opportunity to claim her mother's dragon on the night of her mother's funeral, that also sucks, and he was a dick about it which provoked the fight in which he lost an eye. I mean, why can't he forgive and forget? How's that not more reasonable than threatening to poke out a kid's eye and then chasing him down with a dragon, only to be surprised when he loses control of the situation?
@Fangtorn Жыл бұрын
@@justsomeguywithnomustache6245 I _am_ arguing it was a dick move. That's my argument. It was a dick move. That Vhagar accepted him is irrelevant, it would still have been a dick move if Vhagar had fried him. I'm not arguing with Vhagar or whatever, I'm arguing Vhagar _could_ have accepted Rhaena as worthy, but we'll never know because Aemond stole that opportunity. Rhaena had the reasonable expectation that she would have the time to claim Vhagar after burying her mother, but Aemond did not pay her that courtesy. If he was really more worthy than Rhaena, why couldn't he have waited until after she failed to claim Vhagar? Besides, Aemond lives at King's Landing, with easy access to the Dragonpit and the unclaimed dragons there, so Vhagar was not his only opportunity to claim a dragon.

@@jmoa5758 Okay, and you sound like an Aemond simp, lacking both the objectivity and emotional intelligence to realize what he did can be both bold and also deeply insensitive and provocative. No, the weird thing is you're justifying Aemond's actions as if he did nothing wrong, whereas I'm not justifying him losing an eye, except that he's not an innocent victim. He instigated that fight not just by claiming Vhagar but also by insulting and threatening them afterwards. This is show is all about ambiguity and moral complexity, with neither being wholly in the right or in the wrong, so it's baffling to me why anyone would take a character and by like "nah bruh, this guy did nothing wrong." The translation has been confirmed thanks to the language's creator, David J. Peterson (via Archive Of Our Own). In it, it is revealed that the name of the song Daemon sings to Vermithor is "With Three Heads". Check the English translation: Fire breathes, winged leader but two heads For a third to sing From my voice: The fires spoke And the price has been paid with blood magic With words of fire with clear eyes To tie the three for you i sing As one we come together And with three heads We'll fly like we were meant to beautifully, freely In the book Aemond he kills Luke and because he wanted not to and as he is showing in the series that he is sorry, the name of Rhaenyra's baby would be a girl and her name would be visenya In the book Aemond he kills Luke because he wants to and when he gets home he celebrates and Aegon and alicent they celebrate luke's death different from the series they put it as an accident that the Two lost control of the dragons in the book there is no such thing as losing control of the dragons they spoiled everything in the series but anyway Aemond killed Luke he could have prevented it It was just him not following Luke but that asshole Aemond went after the kid now he's going to bear all the consequences now l' m wondering how they are they going to do this in the series because in the book the greens are all happy with luke's death for alicent, aegon and even aemond so i'm wondering how they are going to do it in the series because the writers put it as if it was an accident and that aemond didn't wanted to kill Luke unlike the book where he kills Luke because he wants to, I didn't like that much they did it just to make people feel sorry for the greens in my opinion, In the book Aemond kills Luke because he wanted to kill Luke different from the series that showed that it was an "Accident" but depending on how Aemond was and blamed for Luke's death he could have avoided it An example was just he didn 't follow Luke then he wouldn't kill Luke anymore like Aemond is a donkey, imbecile is an idiot he did shit and now the greens will pay for everything they did Rhaenyra wasn't dreaming of a dragon giving birth. Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection with their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns the whole transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they made Daenarys Daemon as crazy as it gets, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping on the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was at her most vulnerable and it wasn't easy.. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and the wife of Viserys died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. The scene on the beach was much longer of him on the beach Matt the actor he shot a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is not no saint anymore he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra just unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him much, i think the reason daemon didnt go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he feared having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her that way. When he dropped to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to get that baby out so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome... Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. we books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wish rhaenyra's death no and as in the series it shows that alicent is like that and because we books she does things because she because she is a bad person Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each one of their own ways, the daemon starts preparing for war because he knows Otto very well and he is afraid of losing his family One thing I say is that the two really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or not they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever Emma Darcy who plays Rhaenyra she says that the daemon never laid a hand on Rhaenyra that this was the first time that Rhaenyra her character didn't care much because she knows that the daemon did that and Because he's angry and he's letting his emotion out and she also says which character of hers cares the most about what she just found out that the daemon doesn't know about prophecy because Rhaenyra I thought the daemon knew because he was heir to viserys for 10 years that's why she put a smile on the side of her mouth because she just found out that her father always chose her and Rhaenyra had her doubts if her father wanted her as heir remembers episode 2 when Rhaenyra talks to Alicent poise now after years he got her answer The daemon must be sad because it's his brother and he just found out that he was never chosen and that brother never trusted him enough to tell him and that's more heartbreaking A script for the first season came out that HBO thought of putting in the story a scene that the viserys was thinking of telling the daemon then he starts talking to the daemon but then gives up only that they They didn't put this scene unfortunately I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon smothering Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens, but the protector of his family. Daemon isn't a saint, but he's definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him. There are two teams, the Green Team that belongs to Alicent and the Black Team that belongs to Rhaenyra, I hope to see Rhaenyra with fire in her eyes in the second season, The Greens will pay for everything they did

I think you guys misunderstand a lot about daemon. He is not just this cold person hungry for power, and I blame the writers for depicting him that way because if you had read the books, you would truly understand the type of character he is. Also, yes he was crying for his brother, but he was crying for the death of his daughter as well. The reason why they have so much of the same names in the family is because it is their tradition to recycle them, and based on how well they did during history they give their child the name in hopes that they have the same amount of achievement during their lifetime.

Its actually worse in the boo. Daemon is incredibly power hungry, his reason for being with Rhaenyra was based off of the power he would gain from it. He knew the people wouldnt fully support a queen, they would likely choose him over her if given the chance. He wanted her to be queen because making a power play against her would be much easier than it would against a male heir like his nephew Aegon ll.

I am really glad I discovered these three, they haven't a clue what is happening 80% of the time. The one on the left is annoying as hell but despite this I think they are highly entertaining for all the wrong reasons.
