So of course her views are going to change. 8:18 15:35 You meet Alicents brother in Episode 1 in season 1, him and Deamon were jousting at the Turney thingy (when Rhaenerya's mom is giving birth) and Daemon won the joust with Alicents brother. 20:12 I believe Helena is saying she forgave her mom because Cole was to busy banging Alicent and not at his post where he could have then prevented the death of Helenas son. (Just my thoughts and a few others).

@@emma-kati If you think about that, sending Arryk to pose as Erryk is still far more cunning then just sending a killer commando who has to fight its way through Dragonstone which is defendable against thousands and a whole fleet with just several dozens soldiers due how it is located and constructed! It costs the Lannisters/Tyrells dearly in the books to capture it from Stannis‘ skeleton crew Think about Cole what you want, his plan was still better then what the writers came up with in S01E09 😂

We've seen the animosity between the Brackens, and the Blackwoods in s1, when Rheanerya was on tour looking for husband and a member from each of those families, one a young boy, started fighting, and ended with the young boy stabbing the older one with a sword.😊

5:03 There are some new events stitched the tapestry shown in the credits. We see Aegon on the throne, Jaehaerys's funeral, and the hanging of the rat catchers. These events are now part of the history of Westeros. 5:37 I love the back stories of the Brackens and the Blackwoods. These two families have fought each other for so long, nobody even recalls how it all started. Any minor event is an excuse to start fighting. Though this time it's different as there is a war now ongoing. And this is the first major battle of the war. 6:45 It was classy to bury the Cargyll brothers together. Though they might have just not been able to tell them apart and didn't want to disrespect the wrong brother :) 7:30 This conversation is really interesting and the parallels between the Brackens and Blackwoods can be drawn here. Nobody will care what event is the "start" of this all. There is no going back from where we are now. As Aegon will say in a few minutes "to war then." 12:30 I love how they made up Harrenhal here. There are certainly stories about Harrenhal having a reputation for being haunted, and this episode did an amazing job of showing us just that. 14:12 Daemon insisting on being called Your Grace is a huge deal, and Lord Simon Strong did the right thing by just giving him what he wanted in that moment, just like he surrendered immediately. 15:17 Even the barbers in King's Landing hate Ser Criston Cole. And you did see Alicent's brother in the tourney in season 1. It's easy to forget some of the characters in this show. Though I liked the callback to the tourney by Criston asking Alicent for her favor (instead of Rhaenyra's back then). 21:32 I love this scene where the current King's guard take their vows as a joke, but Aegon's look will hopefully remind them. 22:09 Steve is right that is the guy who saw the rat catchers hanging last episode, but it is not Hugh. He was the blacksmith who asked Aegon for his money up front (and whose family is starving). This character's name is Ulf. The captions do clear up some of the names better. 23:43 Drunk Aegon is sure a dick to Aemond. It'll be interesting to see the fallout of this. 25:05 Baela's dragon is Moondancer. When they designed her, they asked for a "David Bowie" look. So they gave her like tiger stripes and a mohawk. 27:00 It was so great to see Milly as young Rhaenyra again. And her sewing Jaehaerys's head back on is a SUPER creepy dream/vision. 27:36 You are correct that Daemon is right next to a Weirwood (Godswood) tree. These are what Bran would use to get his visions. Others have had weird dreams when sleeping next to them. You can also notice that there are roots of the Weirwood that have grown into the castle at Harrenhal. 29:00 I loved this scene. These two don't get much chance to be on screen together and they both own it. The expressions on their faces as they both found out the information the other knew and were then able to find the truth of what Viserys said was priceless. It is also interesting how Alicent is choosing to handle this information now that so much has happened since.

I think if they wanted to, they could have had Mysaria identify which twin was which. She was the one who knew that the wrong twin was heading into Dragonstone. However, Rhaenyra said she couldn’t blame the other twin for upholding his vows and sticking with Aegon and the Hightowers.

I loved watching Alicent realize that she made a huge mistake/misunderstanding in saying that Viserys changed his mind. And it’s true, it’s too late, she can’t do shit about it, but at least Rhaenyra got the finale confirmation that she needed, her dad never went back on his word. And Alicent throwing up the death of her grandchild to Rhaenyra is hypocritical as always, as if her son didn’t kill Rhaenyra’s son, and there still hasn’t been any justice for that; The greens got justice for Jaehaerys.

Some post discussion comments: 34:40 Some clarification on these kids. Laena (not Rhaenys) had Baela and Rhaena. Laenor is the legal father of Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey. Jace is the heir to the Throne, so he would not be the Lord of Driftmark. Joffrey is the oldest male heir. So the order of succession would be Joffrey, and then Rhaena's daughters. Skipping Baela would be an interesting choice. And if there are any bastards of Corlys out there, they could rise to the top of that list if they were legitimized. 37:30 That is interesting to think about those eggs. I have speculated (as others have) that another dragon is the parent of Dany's dragons. But the show has options of where they are going as the history is ambiguous about the source of those eggs. The guy in the pub wasn't Hugh... his name is Ulf. Hugh was the guy in the previous episode who had the scene with his wife and sick daughter discussing how the blockade had made food scarce and expensive.

I think a lot of people misinterpreted that last scene. If Alicent could stop the war, she would definitely do it. But it was punctuated, especially at the council we saw earlier that episode, that she is powerless now. There's no stopping Aegon. There's no stopping Cole and the army. And after being shamed by Aegon and always being that second son, there's definitely no stopping Aemond. Especially after Otto was removed. On the flip side, Rhaenyra can't stop Daemon either. The war is inevitable.

I agree, Cory. This situation, much like the Bracken/Blackwood feud, is now fully out of control. There was a time when things could have prevented this, but now too much has happened to too many people. It's all out war now, and Rhaenyra now knows that.

the tavern patron claiming to be a bastard targaryen is actually named "ulf". ulf came upon the hanged ratcatchers last episode. hugh was the smithy who in the first episode petitioned aegon for payment in advance to build scorpions. hugh talked with his wife about blockade-caused inflation last episode. hugh also has a thick beard. also notice that the tavern waitress who got butt-slapped was the former palace maid dyanna, whom alicent dismissed for reporting that aegon raped her in last season's eighth episode.

Larys kept Aegon from leaves yes, I think more so because Alicent didn't want him to go. Daemon feeling guilty about having the boy killed, seeing young Rhaenyra speaks volumes I think.. Young Rhaenyra had respect and adorned Deamon and Queen Rhaenyra is disappointed and can't trust him anymore because of his actions. That's how I saw it.

The Brackens and Blackwoods needed no excuse from the Targaryens to war with each other. They’re this show’s version of the Hatfields and McCoys, where they’ve been feuding for a long damned time. We briefly heard of Gwayne Hightower in the very first episode of the series. During the tournament, Daemon gets to pick his opponent, and he chose Gwayne. I think he wanted to humiliate Otto by unseating his son in the joust. This is the first we’ve actually seen of him and heard him speak. Larys is playing Aegon masterfully. He’s using the ‘invisible majority’ technique to manipulate him to what he wants him to do. It’s like saying, “Everyone knows that Xbox makes the best game console.” Does everyone really know that? Plenty of people like PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC. But it’s a means of getting someone to see it your way without there being any actual fact to back it up. If Aegon wasn’t king, I’m convinced Aemond would have beat the brakes off Aegon for that scene at the brothel. Laena and Laenor were Rhaenys’s and Corlys’s children. Baela and Rhaena were Daemon’s and Laena’s children.
