A lot of changes I can understand, show business is a business after all with lots of moving parts and contracts and schedules. The queens sneaking off to their enemies capitals was unforgivable stupid and unnecessary. That was the worst for me. Worse then Nettles being cut.

I feel as though everything that Jace gets credit for in the books are actually Rhaenyra's doing but the 'writers/deciders' of the "true telling" wanted to credit the male in her life as "making the decisions" because they didn't want to show a woman had any power at all.

That’s what I got from that too. I mean they still kept the find distant relative dragon riders bit as his idea but I liked what they did with his character’s insecurities when he was very upset about Rhaenyra’s choice of using bastards to claim dragons and how he feels that completely undermines him. Very compelling

I'm hoping they don't insert Cregan Stark into the Winter Wolves stick with Roderick Dustin (Roddy the Ruin) and stay true to the book regarding the Winter Wolves. Cregan Stark remains in the north to allow people to finish bringing in the harvest since winter is coming, and survival requires this is done. Following this, he has to call the banners, assemble his support elements, and begin the long march south. His time to shine will be The Hour of the Wolf. Recently discovered your channel through In Deep Geek, and I am very much enjoying your commentary. I especially liked your videos on the Blackwoods and Brackens.

Silverwing was implied to be "in mourning" after the death of Vermithor and it makes sense that she would not want to return to the dragonmont where she lived most of her life with him. Yes, she "retired" to the isolation of Red Lake... Never to be "claimed" again... Never to return home... Never to mate or lay eggs... She is one more "victim" of the Dance, IMHO. Dragons in most Western literature don't range once they "nest" or establish a "lair" (in fact, many are hoarders)... And in ASOIAF dragons like volcanic areas... I always wondered if "Red Lake" actually was a lake high in sulfur content. Just some alternative thoughts...

His point is that dragons dont wander unless their rider takes them somewhere. If they did more families would have access to them. Silverwings rider dies and she doesnt go that far. She might not want to go home without vermithor and then she lives there and doesnt range far until her death.

I for one was hoping that they would say that it was a Darklyn who put himself forward to be Jaehaerys's heir on the grounds that he is descended from the younger daughter of Lord Gaemon Targaryen the Glorious. He'd be something like an 8th cousin, but blood of the dragon nonetheless.

I’m fascinated by what all the discussion of Dragon Seeds in the show could mean for Brown Ben Plumm in Winds, and vice versa. His heritage is quite distant, but clearly, Dany’s dragons sense it. Coul he emerge from the battle mounted on a dragon?

I feel the Blood and Cheese change was the line "You hear that boy, your mama wants you dead." That is a sadistic line that would have made for Better Television IMHO. It was one of the most f'ed up thing in ASoIaF history that was not as intentionally devastating as it could be. And it would have prevented the IMHO bad Rheanyra x Alicent scenes from being able to happen.

I think with B+C I felt disappointed with it. I think many people were, and I don't think many can really articulate it. I know people say that it wasn't awful enough but i think people say that because of something else that was missing. I think it was gruesome enough BUT theres something about the whole scene that wasn't big, dark, or weighted enough. I think it wasn't serious enough and had some light hearted stuff interweaved in it. It felt buddy cop in some moments and i think (i don't remember too much so I could be wrong) there was some cuts away and it would of worked better without cuts, a bit longer. It needed more weight in some way. I think helaena walking in on her mom having sex was "too funny." My big complaint with this season is mostly the second half of the season was that it was too little was spread over too long. All of Rhaena should of been in one episode. It drove me crazy to see like 8 Rhaena scenes all under a minute. I think many of the season was good but there was some editing changes I would make to have episodes where it was more focused on fewer characters per episode. Too many small scenes with every character in every episode. Instead of 7 episodes of Harrenhall, it would of been nice to see 2-3 episodes of it. I am really not happy about the Nettles situation, but I'm holding out to see how this Rhaena arch goes. I will give alot of grace that this season was cut short after it was written for 10 episodes and then writers couldn't edit it because of the writers strike.

I’ve always seen book Alicent as so cartoonish awful as to equate it with female characters described as sorcerers or bathing in blood to stay young or whatever. Largely described by Rhaenyra supporters or a maester imprisoned by Rhaenyra’s son in Fire & Blood. I’m happy to see a still flawed character, but one with many influences to contribute to a pov that isn’t just ambition and waspishness.

They had so many options in the books to go off of, I wish they stuck with those options. It seems like they were trying to outwrite G.R.R.M, and in doing so, they made the story boring and repetitive. I'm hoping the best for S3, expecting the worst.

As a book reader, I disagree very much. I think the show is much better than the book. They have changed anything that I preferred the book version to, and they've actually made me care about these characters. I got through the entire book without giving a shit about any of the characters. Probably just due to the way the book is written.

Fire and Blood is very unique in that it’s not a narrative story. It’s a history text written with a very specific perspective. There’s plenty of room for change and I welcome it. It is an adaptation after all.

What needed explaining about Alicent’s lake scene? She’s really sad. Really sad music is playing. Her whole life has been riddled with anxiety and grief and she just wants to go touch some grass. I thought her expressions and the music were some of the best parts of the entire episode! I’m absolutely not with you on the confusion in that scene.

Yeah it was just a bad scene, doesn't advance the story in any entertaining way what so ever, and doesn't align with absolutely any account in F&B, nor does it align with the type of world and setting that GRRM has created. I hope this helps.

That scene is meant to show her realizing that she still has a role to play: saving Helaena and Jaehaera, as the BTS stated. That's what Aziz said confused him. The moment of clarity & her swimming away with determination wasn't clear - even you did not mention it.

But then there are changes like Hugh’s backstory which is thoroughly good. Show Viserys is a more compelling character than the one we get in the book. Pretty much all of their character work is a deviation from the source material by necessity. I’m not a shill; I’m just not gonna be grumpy about an adaptation that I enjoy.
