I also like how Moondancer sounds, it's giving aquatic which is a pretty cool way of representing Baela and Rhaena: Dragons (Targaryen) of the sea (Velaryon)

Alicent questioned if she slept with Daemon and Rhaenyra swore on her mother that she didn't sleep with Daemon and she didn't. When Alicent confronted Rhaenyra it was all accusations and judgment, to Rhaenyra she's already showed herself to be disloyal, Rhaenyra poured her heart out and cried to her about her father taking a new wife, a perfect opportunity for her to let her friend in on the scheming being done, but she didn't, why would Rhaenyra be obligated to tell her the truth?

Just to be clear (and maybe you’ve said it and I haven’t gotten to that part of the reaction yet), that Weirwood tree Daemon is at is NOT the one at Winterfell. He’s indeed still at Harrenhal, and it has its own. It’s not uncommon for castles to have one for followers of the Old Gods. We saw Alicent in front of one at the Red Keep last season.

Yeah, at that point, the greens have a better chance of a good outcome by going to war than admitting their mistakes (also usurping the throne). It wouldn't just affect the greens but those houses who pledged loyalty to them, so they'd also prefer to go to war.

Alicent heard what she _WANTED_ to hear. Rhaenyra had, just that day, introduced her new babies to her father, her sons by Daemon (whom one could argue are more legitimate hears than Jace and Luke), and the eldest of the babies is ALSO named "Aegon." Yet Alicent didn't consider for even a SECOND that Viserys MIGHT have been setting Aegon above Jace as the next heir after Rhaenyra? And that very day in the throne room, she had seen Viserys reaffirm and (to his mind) FINALLY settle the matter of Jace and Luke being legit heirs of Rhaenyra, and she knew he wasn't in his right mind when she saw him in bed that night. She heard what she wanted to hear. I keep seeing headlines and memes that say things like "If Alicent and Viserys had just named their son Larry, non of this would be happening." But that isn't true. The root cause of all this is that Alicent is sanctimonious and self-righteous in her religion, which differs from Rhaenyra's religion when you get down to it, and that self-righteousness will not let her overlook the fact that Rhaenyra's children are not the kids of the man she was married to. She _CAN'T_ overlook it because Otto was telling her from the time she was 18 that her best friend was going to KILL Alicent's son, that she would HAVE to because that was the only way she would be able to keep the throne. The kingdom would _not_ accept a female ruler, he was adamant about that. Which is EXACTLY why Otto suggested Rhaenyra be the heir to begin with. When Aemma and her son died, Otto saw an opening. He pushed Alicent on Viserys to seduce him, he drove a wedge between Viserys and Daemon, and he suggested putting Rhaenyra up as the heir even though he was convinced himself that the kingdom would not accept her. With Daemon out of the way and a "weak" choice for heir put forward, that meant all that Alicent had to do was give birth to an heir and a spare and Otto's plan would be complete. When Rhaenyra married Laenor and failed to have any kids with him (all that inbreeding can cause infertility) she made the mistake of falling in love with a guy with dark hair and white skin. (I'm still convinced if she had slept with someone from a family full of blondes she could have passed them off; Laenor's kids could easily have been lighter skinned than he was.) Once it was clear that Rhaenyra's children weren't legitimate, that just strengthened Otto's hand, and Alicent was already afraid for the lives of her sons. The righteous anger she developed that her legitimate sons might die in order for bastard sons to inherit the throne is understandable, of course. And the really tragic part is that Rhaenyra would never have sought to kill the children of her best friend, but Otto made her think that. Otto Hightower is the man at the root of all this tragedy; he wanted power, and Viserys was more pliable without Daemon there to back him up.

Theres been an Aegon alive, they have two Aegons alive...The king took his last energy, no milk of the poppy to have his mind clear, to make an appearance to everyone that day to uphold everything he has said. No take backs. Yet Alicent thinks he changed his mind? She is delusional and also had a council meeting with only ppl of team green after...no she heard what she wanted to hear and instead of talking to Rhaenyra, which I think she should have, she made a mess out of everything.

I loved LOVED that last scene. People thought it was dumb and silly, but that's why i love your reactions. You try to understand what the characters are feeling in this moment, and it just shows rhaenyra who has the prophecy, her bloodline and the fate of the people of westeros on her shoulders, is trying her hardest to find a peaceful solution. Yes it was risky, but it is also desperate. Their talk was absolutely necessary, even if the chances were honestly low. The dialogue is so good. And I'm enjoying the arguments and conversations we as a fan base can have, when there's actually good dialogue and writing.

@@madmrssally5297 Yes, Daemon's thoughts about him from the last episodes are not far from truth. Viserys has that conversation with Lyonel, thinking about how he will be remembered and wishing he was tested to prove his worth, but ending with "perhaps it is best not to know". Daemon was very liked and well perceived by the commoners and the nobles (including the council) hated him because he would not be manipulated like Viserys. Marrying Daemon to Rhaenyra would secure the succession and he knew it.

I think we should give Emma D'Acrcy all the Emmys. All of them. Throw in an Oscar and a Tony too, coz why the hell not? Their performance throughout was immaculate. We saw a more unsure Rhaenyra, and a more jittery, physically, Rhaenyra, than I think we ever have before. But that last lingering close-up, after Alicent walks away, there's a shift in her eyes. Uh, you seem to forget that while the twins were being buried together, Rhanerya and Rhaneys were there at the grave site to honor Erryk and in a small way, Arryk as well. Arryk had been unjustly used as a pawn by that a**hole "Ser Criston Cole. Sorry, back to the subject at hand: Rhaneys gently prodded Rhanerya to talk to Alicent one more time because she knew that the Dowager Queen wouldn't want a war to break out (officially), causing death and destruction, the massacre of innocent women and children. And everything else in between. Rhanerya already had received a message from Alicent not long ago. Rhanerya refused to listen but she finally took the bull by the horns and decided to sneak into the Red Keep so she could talk to Alicent one more time. And thanks to her new adviser, Mysaria, whom I've always liked, they were able to get Rhanerya in. Our girl was clinging onto hope because if Alicent still wanted to avoid war, then maybe the two of the could work something out. You have to remember, the era of this show is akin to Medieval times. You can't call someone's cell phone looking for gossip, now can you? So, there is still information, like a person's ever changing thoughts, opinions, BELIEFS, that Rhanerya has NO access to. And vice versa. We're dealing with human beings folks. To Rhae Rhae, the risk of going undercover to try and talk or reason with her once close friend, was worth it. Again, people change. How the hell was Rhanerya to know about Alicent banging Ser Crispy Cole while her own daughter, Heleana, was ambushed and then forced to point out her son to Blood and Cheese to only barely get away with her surviving child, a daughter. And that Cole was the one that was SUPPOSED to be GUARDING QUEEN HELEANA AND HER CHILDREN!!! About how all these circumstances had upset, angered and even hardened Alicent's heart a bit. She knew the war was inevitable. Rhanerya, however, was more of an optimist. Yeah, she knew she'd effed up but what was done was done. Which was what Alicent told Rhanerya. And it was too late. But that doesn't mean I didn't feel for both women. Honestly, after it ended, I wanted to cry. Yet one single good thing did come out this crap shoot: Rhanerya Targaryen was still considered her father's, King Viserys', rightful heir to the Iron Throne till his dying breath. Or something close to that. It's not much but at least my favorite Queen finally has validation, the validation she needs to start burning every one and every thing to ashes!!!

18:37 I'm so impressed with Aegon's actor Tom Glenn-Carney. In the book Aegon doesn't sexually assault anyone and comes off more like this season's version of him which is so much more sympathetic. Even though he obviously does awful things it makes more sense why he's doing them and he isn't just evil like a Joffrey or a Ramsey.

My favorite part of the episode is the very end. We see Rhaenyra contemplate what just occurred, when she looks up, it's with the understanding that she is the true queen, and she alone knows all the reasons why. Alicent knows must of it, but only Rhaenyra knows the dream and of it's importance. Brilliant final scene, one of the best in either series.

Daemon using the style Your Grace is treason. He is King Consort and his proper title is Prince Daemon. Most viewers missed this detail because they fawn over Daemon and no matter what he does he looks so cool doing it. Lord Simon Strong understood the meaning of what Daemon was doing and that’s why he was so hesitant to use it. Treason is treason.

Alicent is not delusional, nor did she simply hear what she wanted to hear. Alicent was taken as a childbride and forced to have heirs, and her life was taken from her. That alone would make someone want their sacrifice to mean something and for them to want to put their child on the throne. But she didn’t. She only did want Aegon on the throne when she genuinely thought Viserys finally realized that all her sacrifices were worth that dream that HE wanted. In episode 3 Viserys gave an entire speech to her about him having dreams of his son ascending the throne and how much that meant to him. She doesn’t know what the audience knows lmfaooo

Also how quickly we forget that Otto and the Small Council had succession plans for Aegon in place for years before Vicerys died. Whether Alicent misunderstood him or not the plan was in place. At this point both Alicent and Rhaenyra are prisoners to circumstances. It’s too late to control events now. The only option is one side surrendering. Would Rhaenyra surrender to spare destruction of the realm? Would Aegon? Would those around them truly allow them to? This entire mess was created by Vicerys.

Watching that scene when Rhaenyra gives Rheana her charge of her two younger sons as well as Rheanas little brothers. As well as those 4 dragon eggs and the two hatchlings. I realized that’s something I would love to see happen and that’s when the Egg hatches in the crib with the baby dragon and let’s us see just how the Dragon bonds with its rider. I feel that’s something they could have given us during the first season when either families sides dragon/dragon rider first touch creating there bond in life.

Whenever the queen tells Alicent that she forgives her, I think you misread her reaction. The look on her face wasn’t one of She needed to hear that, it was one of realization that her daughter sees her as a factor responsible for the death of the child and the gut punch that comes with it, she just never saw it that way before because she was too concerned about getting outed for what she was doing with Cole.

There are multiple weirdwoods all over Westeros guys... Not just the one Bran went too, which was notably huge. Winterfell, Kingslanding, etc. Harrenhall was notably constructed from the wood of a whole lot of Weirdwoods. And the castle sits next to a lake with an island full of them.
