Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down House Of The Dragon.

The battle of rooks rest is finally here and your boy Aegons getting cooked. We have a big shocking death as well and yeah lots of things to talk about tonight. Throughout this video we're gonna break down the episode and as always go over the book differences. There's some slight changes that actually make a major difference with Aemonds actions being drastically different.
So come with me and bend the knee cos in this video we're breaking it down.
Now one thing I didn't point out last week is that we actually have some additional shots added into the title sequence. Towards the end we get two brand new sewing in the tapestries with the first of these showing baby Jahaerys. He's then beheaded and we then lead into the reprecussions of this. Next up is cheese hanging down which is the fate he ended up receiveing.
Now we begin in one of Daemons visions with another cameo from Milly Alcock. Entering the throne room at the red keep we can see at the top of one of the columns is a previous king. When doing our trailer breakdown I did think this might be Viserys however we know he's on a different one. These are put up in the wake of the death of a monarch with Viserys one appearing in the season premiere.
It is difficult to make out who exactly this is but either way it symbolises a lot.
We later learn Daemons clearly dealing his the succession and that he still holds a lot of pain over Rhaenyra being named the heir. I love the way that this shot is framed as it shows the previous kings looking down upon him.

I knew that everyone would be praising Rhaenys for her heroic scene, but i can't help but feel sorry for Aegon, such a tragic character. He never wanted any of this, was manipulated by his mother and grandfather. Hated by everyone except his Dragon, trying his best to prove himself but still fails at it. Tom's performance was brilliant as well

The bond between dragons and their riders in this episode was beautiful. Meleys and Rhaenys, Sunfyre and Aegon... as beat up as he is, Sunfyre still curled protectively around Aegon. And the look Meleys gives, so heartwrenching.

seeing Aegon flying sunfyre without high valyrian(and just in general because he was really bad at it) reminded me of a college rich kid driving a sports car. i did like his relationship with him though it was very cute.

I loved how Rhaenys knew death was imminent- she led her hands go (letting go of control) from Meleys and allowed her death to continue. I did not want her to die, but it was beautiful how she chose to give it her all. She was the HOTD epitome of ride or die. ❤❤❤

Everyone comments that she should have run, but Rhaenys knew that if she fled and Rooks Rest fell, other lords would abandon Rhaenyra and her claim. She had no other duty but death and honor.
