When he's not under the spell, he's still the same cocky Daemon. Inside dreams, he must be different so that we, as viewers, can finally look at him without a mask. Otherwise, he would go through the entire series in one role and we would never have looked at all the demons inside him.

This episode is very GOT. Season 1 and 2 of the show are extremely slow. But now some of the same fans complain, i guess its a sign of the times where people have just shorter patience or attention span
