17:45 If we're going by book ages, Aegon is 21, Helaena is 20, Aemond is 19, Jace is 16, Daeron is 16, Luke *was* 14, and Joffrey is 12. It tlooks like Aegon, Aemond, and Jace have all been aged up, though they mention in this epiosde that Daeron is 16. and Joffrey has been aged down, he seems closer to 10 than 12. And Aegon the Younger and Viserys have also been aged down, thye look like they're about 4 and 2, rather than 8 and 6 which is about where they are in the books. So it's not quite clear, but Jace is definitely younger than Aegon and Aemond, since we see young-Rhaenyra in season 1 before she even marries Laenor, and Aegon is already 2 and Alicent is pregnant with Aemond.

Yeah we should have left Daemon for 3 episodes after he flew off from dragonstone. Let everyone talk about where is he, is he loyal, is he dead. Then in episode 5 after the big battle we have 1 big episode just focused on him. You could tell his arc out of chronological order and mix in actual events with hallucinations to mess with the audience. It could have been better executed for pacing.

I honestly feel like that was the plan before HBO demanded 8 episodes instead of 10. The writers strike and HBO kind of nuking production (I believe over money) screwed up the entire pace of the season. What I can't figure out is why HBO is confining their biggest IP? But if you watch some of the BTS stuff, it might clue us in. They had hundreds of lit candles in the Viserys and Daemon scene that lasted what, 30 seconds? Like, are they consistently making choices like this? When they have to afford dragon and battle scenes that are ridiculously expensive, but very necessary.

It was a bit awkward, but also makes sense when you think about it since Daemon left, Rhaeny’s died, and Rhanerya is left surrounded by a bunch of idiots on her council who don’t do anything other than Mysaria. I think since the kiss was apparently improvised it will just be a one off thing of Rhaenrya blowing off some steam, and won’t develop into a long term relationship.

Hard to put my finger on it, maybe it is partly the quality of the writing, but this season has been way below expectations. I think the pacing is a mess. Some things happen in a single sequence while half of some episodes seem to be looking at characters who spend their time talking about how they wish they could do something but they cannot do anything or should not do anything, which in theory could be interesting, but in practice, it is just boring. I keep watching one more episode with the hope that things will start to pick, but this season keeps falling flat

The Harrenhal stuff is amazing! All the mysticism with Alys and getting to know her through Daemon. Daemon is such a nuanced character that every hallucination reveals a different trauma of his involving loved ones. I think we've had just about the right amount of it so far, but the next episode needs to move his story along.

I disagree about Daemon, though. Even though we knew Daemon had conflicting feelings about his family, everything happening with him at Harrenhal is about him confronting those feelings instead of shoving them away and not dealing with them ever. It's not enough for us to know he did love Viserys. It's not enough for us to just know he hasn't been doing well by Baela and Rhaena, emphasized by Laena's ghost. He needs to actually own up to those issues, then make actual waking decisions regarding them, outside of his headtrip. Harrenhal is his therapy, and Daemon has been an asshole for a LONG time, it's not gonna be fixed in an episode or two.

This has been my least favorite episode of them all and I am sick of watching Daemon trip out in Harrenhal. I keep hearing the excuse “but that is where he is at in the book, he isn’t doing much” OK…cool, then don’t show him and give us something else. I’d rather watch no Daemon than boring Daemon.

Man this season is dragon ass… This episode was doo doo & so was the last one. I read the books and there’s so much awesome stuff they could be doing but instead, hey we get to see Daemon trip balls for an entire season, & watch Rhaenerya struggle against the greatest threat of all… Men. They should’ve renamed the character Misses Menbad bc this damn sure isn’t the same character from the books. That character actually had a lot of flaws & was actually a pretty shitty person but that made the whole Dance of Dragons conflict so much more intriguing bc initially were lead to believe the Blacks are the “good guys” but we find out pretty early that Rhaenerya is a pretty shitty human & an even shittier queen, but Condols on his YASSSSS QUEEN! Shit this season fellas.

I'm not sure how Rhaenyra is a Mary Sue as you are implying. She constantly fails. As far as her being good, she conspires with Daemon to murder a random dude for their schemes. She slaps her advisor and reacts rashly. She has bastards in a very obvious way that destabilizes her claim, and alienates her children from their father(s). She is neither perfect nor completely good. If you argue that this season is more boring than the first, I can understand that, but not that Rhae is a Mary Sue, she is far from it. The whole text of the book is against patriarchy, not that men suck and women rule. If that's your interpretation that's on you. Not even to mention that it is implied the book is written from "Green" perspective - Maester conspiracy and all that.
