Daemon didn't want to kill the Blackwood. That's why the Tully lord made him do it. The Blackwood was the only Riverlord that Daemon had under his control. By killing him, the Tully lord got rid of any power Daemon might have had--making him have to do it, to please the other Riverlords, was just a bonus. Also Jace being the son of Rhaenyra doesn't matter. The entire show is about her getting usurped, and then Aegon getting his throne, presumably stolen, by his brother. Jace is 100% correct to be concerned, especially since he has knowledge of the Targaryen king's and most likely knows of Maegor killing his nephew Aegon. Being the heir doesn't mean shit in SOIAF, you're not guaranteed anything until you got the crown on your head, and you're sitting on the throne. Not to mention Jace has brown hair and has the weaker dragon.

It also was a big show of power that Oscar made Daemon serve as his executioner. As for Jace, while he is right to be concerned, it is also true that he for sure has no chance of inheriting if the Blacks loose the war, so what is necessary to avoid that must be done, even if it has unfortunate side-effects.

Honestly, i believe we underestimate the bastard problem. Remember how sansa treated jon or how she later spoke to ramsey about being a bastard and inheritance?? That was much later in time so i think people back then treated bastards far harsher than what we have seen in the show so far.

Everyone is underestimating the lowborn bastards except Jace. He's right. What if they turn against the Backs? The blacks can't fight them. What if they wait out the war, let the greens and blacks kill each other and claim the throne? No one can make them fight. Jace has little brothers to protect too. Even if eveything go well like Rhaenyra wants, people thinks non-targaryen kids can be dragonriders now. This can create wars for future generations. I feel like Daemon would have taken Jace's side and argue or may be tell Rhaenyra to be careful. She's acting like this is fate or destiny that the bastards got the dragons. Look at it from Jace’s pov. He’s has insecurities from being a bastard his whole life, primarily because of his dark hair, but him being a dragon rider was the one reassurance the he did have the blood of the dragon. Now there’s other bastards claiming bigger and badder dragons AND they have silver hair. If one of them were to rise up and try to make a claim, they’d have more backing than him because they look the part. Unknown low born claiming dragons more ferocious than the Queen and her Heir’s is cause for concern, I think.

One eye having to adjust with the light is in fact exactly why eyepatches were worn in the first place! It was usually very dark below deck compared to out on the open sea during the day, so to quickly be able to see an eyepatch was used so one eye didn't have to adjust to the dark.

Addam the one who claimed Seasmoke was not the son of Corlys. Addam was a bastard of Laenor. Which makes Addam as Corlys' Grandchild. Addam's mom was Corlys and Laenor's sidechick. There was a time when Laenor just reached puberty, Corlys brought his son to his sidechick(Addam and Alyn's mom) in order for his son Laenor to get experience. It created a seed which is Addam. Laenor felt disgusted with it so his preference was turned towards men. So Alyn is like Addam's half brother and uncle. That is the reason why Addam has a Targaryen blood which he acquired from his father Laenor who is the son of Rhaenys.

We know of 7 black dragons, plus the 2 in the vale, baby Aegon's, the 4 eggs, and the 2 in the den. We know of 3 green dragons, 4th maybe. So 19 dragons to 17 Targaryens. Can't imagine there will be many more since the kids are all busy doing other things to have kids.

Hugh is Rhaenyra and Daemon's cousin via Daemon and Viserys' aunt and Ulf is Rhaenyra's uncle Viserys and Daemon's half-brother via their father. The only reason they're supposedly "unworthy" is the marital status of their parents which is just stupid, biologically they are all close family. A lot is made of Jace and his brothers but legally they are legitimate sons of Leanor. They were legitimized both by Leanor declaring them so as their father, by the heads of the respective Houses Targaryen and Velaryon, and also by royal declaration from the mouth of the King.

Ulf was out on a joy ride with his new dragon. Had to go cruise the neighborhood showing off his new ride. Hugh reminded Vermithor of King Jaceaerys, Vermithors last rider. Who would have been Hugh's Grandsire.

Overall one of my personal favorites episodes of HOD so far. This proves that you don't need action packed scenes to create something magical. But anybody else feel this season was really affected by the strike? Just seems like this season was written for 10 or more episodes? Feels like we are just building towards something that needs 2-3 more episodes, not one. I don’t really understand why this couldn’t have been an entire season of the show? Condal seemed so completely uninterested in why the dragons chose these guys but like, imagine a show where we track six or seven small folk, get their backstories, come to really care about them, and then see each of them try to claim a dragon. We got a little time with Hugh and Ulf but not enough to really want to see them succeed. They both have compelling narratives. Hugh is willing to sacrifice everything if it means his family will be better off for such an all or nothing gamble. Ulf has that kinda charm to him that really screams "this guy is in over his head", with his own self doubts about himself. I really like how Vermithor and Silverwing embody the personalities of their new riders. One is strong and stern with a commanding aura around it that shows such ferocity and anger in such a limited time while the other, interestingly, conveys a more playful demeanor that seems more eager to have fun and enjoy the thrills. And we (at least book readers) knew immediately that Hugh and Ulf were gonna be the ones to do it, because they’re the ones we’d been following. The small folk who died, who cares? The implications surrounding Targaryen power and the stuff with the dragon keepers was cool. It just felt so rushed cramming all of this into one episode, but the ideas were way more interesting than like 80% of season 1. The scene with Aegon struggling to walk got me.. I'm not saying it because I'm Team Green, but man you just have to feel sorry for Aegon at this point. Give Tom Glynn-Carney all the awards - he has been absolutely phenomenal to watch this season!Oscar Tully with balls of Valyrian steel. He really walked Daemon right into his web with Willem Blackwood’s execution… had that planned perfectly & left him absolutely no choice. That scene felt like peak Game of Thrones, Oscar not only earned the respect of his bannermen but also managed to completely outplay Daemon at the same time. that ending shot with the three dragons and Rgaenyra eyeing Aemond down is one of my favorite shots of this series. The finale will be insane. Daeron and Tessarion showing up with the Hightower army after all that teasing since Episode 1. The Starks crossing the Twins. Cole and Gywane "beef". Daemon finally getting his army. Possibly a battle shown. There is so much that's about to happen - just enjoy it before we will have to wait 2 years😭

Blacks gain a huge upper hand and IMMEDIATELY show their cards and with them, any advantage of a huge surprise at a future battle. THey only had rumors of 1 new rider, now they know it's at least 2 - so any future conflicts they will be able to plan/react accordingly. As oppossed to before when Aemond wouldnt think twice and would just charge into any conflict.

Weren't they trying to lure Aemond and Vhagar into a trap? Aemond was able to realise it though. Alternatively Rhaenyra just expects them to surrender without further bloodshed. They can't fight Vermithor, Silverwing, Seamoke, Syrax, and Carraxes.
