House of the Dragon - Season 2 Final Trailer Reaction

In a move worthy of the Targaryens, HBO has dropped the final trailer for 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 on the same day as the trailer for Season 2 of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'.

It shall be very difficult to pull off Sunfyre, but I think HBO/MAX is up to the task. It must be either incredibly exciting or incredibly difficult for their visual effects team to give all of these different dragons a unique look, as they deserve. Perhaps it's a bit of both.

That sounds silly, they've released a few trailers already, much of what was shown in this trailer has already been shown, so I highly doubt they were frothing at the mouth with stress.

Yeah, looking excellent. The quality of the trailer speaks for itself. Presenting and laying down the context coherently with good writing and voice work. Building to some pretty epic snapshots with very high production value. This is going to be a good one.

I didn't mind Rings of Power, but I was never much of a fan of the franchise. I think the difference in quality here is that HotD is primarily a character-driven piece with a fantasy background and RoP is a sweeping fantasy tale that happens to have characters in it. All of the effects are great, but House of the Dragon's best scenes are just conversations, not battles or epic set pieces (and even within those it's good at telling a deeper story).
