What gorgeous details... the arch between the living and dining room is everything!!! That alone would make me say "I'll take it!" Love all the muted blues and patterns, and the pop of the golden soft yellows. I too, have a table and lamp obsession. It is so charming how he mentions his childhood home. It must have been a happy one, as he has little omages to it everywhere. And to his Mom, who obviously did a wonderful job. And nothing warms up a space more than pillows and throws. Covering the boarded up window with the custom art is pure genius!!!!! Its so unique and looks completely intentional. The dining room hutch is perfect . It almost looks like an original old built in. This is truly a reflection of you, your life, your upbringing, your love of family. Makes me happy for you.

This was a walk down memory lane back to my Uncle Frank’s Brooklyn apartment in the 50’s and 60’s. He had a railroad apartment in the Greenpoint area. But unfortunately, I have no photos of the apartment or the ‘Stoop’ outside of the front door. He was on the third floor. My mother, who also made Kolaches, my sister and I would come during summer vacation and stay for 6 weeks every year. The kitchen was huge but just simple kitchen appliances and a large kitchen table, with the only bathroom off the kitchen, very uncomfortable. And we hung the wash on a line out the kitchen window with a pulley. It was dark because of the straight design. I remember that there were windows in the walls between the two bedrooms and living room at the front. I think the windows were to allow some daylight through those three rooms from the front room, facing the street. And until I watched your video I did not recall an extra exit door, but I now remember a door the was always locked and never used. I loved my time in Brooklyn and walking on the Avenue. The gorgeous movie theaters in those days were a fabulous treat. And the malted milkshakes. John, your apartment is totally charming, cozy, adorable and a reflection of your personalty. I love it! Thank you for sharing it with us. I think I would love to meet your Mother, she raised a terrific boy. Great photos of your childhood and family add to entire ambience of your home. Just lovely. I have a precious photo of my Mother and Aunt walking to work in Manhattan with their brown paper bags of lunch which was taken in the 40’s, when they lived in Brooklyn. Perhaps living at the time in their brother's Brooklyn apartment, while he was off to war.

HELLO John, clearly you are super talented, and so is your Sister...That PAINTING! I love the whole Apartment, but gosh yes, I already loved the painting at first sight, and then when you pointed out that it concealed an iffy-looking sealed-up window...GENIUS, because I just thought it was just a wonderful, bold-energy painting, intentionally placed, like a joyful ghost haunting the dining room waiting to playfully ambush guests! I also especially like the way you ruched a lightweight blanket to add color and texture on the bed...not at the foot, but up a bit...I am going to borrow that placement-styling trick ❤ And YES I love the HUTCH! And the way you made it fit, like a built-in! Anyhow, sincere thanks for the tour, it is transporting and inspiring to see your lovely home.

It's a tribute to her, but also kudos to you for maintaining your own esthetic. Love the melding of the old and the new. Also, your sister's painting in the frame reminded me of a pair of paintings I did for a friend who inherited an apartment with built in frames, but the previous owners tore off their paintings and left gaping holes. I was honored to get a chance to cover those! I like your color blocking of books in various area of the apartment, and agree that a giant branch, plant or even artificial plant transforms a space. Dearest Johnny! Oh, my goodness gracious; what a lovely way for me to spend 42 serene minutes with my beloved nephew before retiring for the evening, as opposed to watching the telly down in my Man Cave! My little bro and his lovely wife send this link to me and I am so happy they did! Where to begin, buddy? I truly adore your whole place! Your style is so inspired by and reminiscent of, my beloved big sister! I virtually wish to respond to everything you showed me here, but time and my energy level prevents me from doing so. I truly love and admire your classy and elegant sense of style; your chosen career is a perfect fit for you, methinks! 👍👍 When I first saw all the books in your fireplace, I thought you were gonna have a "book-burning" party until you explained things. If I had that in my home, I would wish to see it work, as I love fires as your Grandpa Edwin did.🔥🔥 By the way, how many sq ft is your apt? Cobalt Blue is my fave colour, and many of your shades are a tad darker hue of that. I have not consider complementing it with a fellow Primary Colour, that of Yellow, but that truly works! Did you know those were the school colours of your sweet mama’s Holy Name Ramblers? Those are also the colours that represent the Cub Scouts of America. (I was one 65 years ago!) 💙💛 Most of the legacy items I have from your Nana and Grandpa shall be distributed to my awesome 12 nephews and nieces and 10 great nieces and nephews, after I finish my present earthly course. However, I have something I wish to send you RIGHT NOW that will further connect you to your mama, your 2 uncles, 2 aunts, and maternal grand-parents. Please send me your exact mailing address ASAP, and you shall have this family treasure very soon, John. I know EXACTLY which room you will display it in. 😍😍 Whenever you have the time and the means, I would love to see you obtain a 110-pound Digital Piano similar to the Roland HP 203-A which I acquired during August of the Covid year 2020. I know that you would likely rather have a 440-pound Acoustic Piano; but this is better suited for apartment dwelling since it has headphones and you can play at 3:00 am if you wish to do so. It also has the feel of the weighted keys of an acoustic and the sound sampling of a 9-foot Concert Grand, and never needs to be tuned! 🎹🎵 I am certain that in mid-June, I shall see you at the wedding of one of your beloved cousins. I have some pretty B1G news that it is possible that she and her new husband might be the next owners of our home of 20 years. I’ll be 74 in November, and I am weary of yard work. Lenore has put our name in for a very lovely, small, and reasonably-priced senior retirement village here in Omaha @ 60th and "I" Streets. We put in for a 3-bedroom, 1,100 sq ft apt that is almost as big as our entire little house! You will FREAK OUT when I tell you the rents, especially since you live in one of the most expensive cities on this earth! 😲😁 Well, that is all for now, buddy. It is now past 11:00 pm in the ‘Big O’ and about time for your old uncle to retire for another night. Until we meet and embrace once again; I send you MUCH LOVE and MASSIVE HUGS from your Unca Mike and Aunt Lenore! 💘💘🤗🤗
