Architect Takeshi Yamagata renovated a 60-year-old one-story house he inherited from his aunt. On the west side is the piano room of his aunt, who was a piano teacher, and the public space was turned into a living room for entertaining guests. On the private east side, where the bedroom and dining room used to be, partitions were removed to make it a single room, and the living functions of the dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom were consolidated. In the center of the house,
The interior partition walls and the exterior walls on the north and south sides were removed to create a breezy terrace. Mesh screens and louvers on the terrace protect the privacy of the residents while allowing them to enjoy the outdoors. This is a unique proposal that makes the most of the housing stock in the city center.

こちらのお宅に45年前から10年ほどピアノレッスンに通っていました！自然や風を感じる素敵な建物になりましたね。体調が悪くて休ませていただいた和室も、今は明るく解放的。当時あったものが随所に残っているのはうれしい限りです。あの皮の椅子もまだ使っているとは、感動です。穏やかな素晴らしい先生の思い出がよみがえり、良いものを見せていただきました。ありがとうございました。

Thanks for your comment. The architect is not a landscape designer. The garden is as it was when his aunt lived. However, the house is now open to the garden there is a better relationship between them.

素敵なんだがテラスのスクリーンのみにして半外みたいにするなら、普通に窓も作っといて必要なら開け放てるようにした方が自由度が高くないんでしょうか。冬が辛そうな感じがしてしまう･･･。

コメントありがとうございます。こちらは建築家さんのご自宅ということで、少し実験的な試みがなされています。冬の寒さや台風の吹き込みなどの不便は、たしかにあるとおっしゃってましたが、それもまた面白がりながら暮らしていらっしゃるようでした。また、スクリーン部分をサッシにするとなると、コストも上昇します。リノベーションも新築と同様、予算に上限がある以上は、内容に優先順位をつけ、トータルで考えていく必要が生じます。例えばここで減額した分、リビングに断熱性の高い木製サッシをつけることができた、と考えることもできます。何を優先したいかは、ほんとうに人それぞれなんだなーと思います
