house tour! | SHAW AFB family housing

hi there! 🌿
super late upload, it's been a busy couple of months but im finally getting these posted! we went from temporary lodging for two weeks, to an airbnb for a month, and finally was able to move in here. we've been getting it all furnished from scratch and making it feel more like home everyday (furnished tour coming: whenever I feel done so never lol).
shaw was known for having sucky housing, so about 10 years ago they renovated their neighborhoods and now offer two story duplexes such as this one, 3-4 bedroom (in our case, three). we were super lucky to get this nice of housing for our first duty station ✨

@@breannabolon3409 You can call the housing office and they can give an estimate! My husband and I were maybe 6th in line and got a place in about 10 days.

How would you say your experience with housing has been so far? Do you love the home? Your honest take would be great. Moving there in the fall.

it's been a few years since we've lived here haha but it was nice! we had to wait a few months for the house which was a little difficult but once we were there it was very convenient and simple, especially nicer compared to the neighborhoods in the immediate area

My wife and I are applying soon and noticed both the 3 and 4 bedroom floor plans say the back includes a screened-in porch in the backyard, and a grilling slab. When you showed out your backdoor, I didn't notice a screened-in area. Do you know do either of the housing options include that screened-in area? Thank you!

That's interesting, we definitely didn't have any screened in parts. Potentially the officer housing/other neighborhoods might? Majority of ours didn't though

Apply asap lol. We applied a month before we got here and from then it took about 3 months to get an offer. We stayed in TLF for two weeks but was able to find an Airbnb for cheap nearby for the extra month we waited
