It’s looking great! Your kitchen cabinets would be beautiful painted WHITE. You’ll LOVE your tankless hot water heater, I can’t imagine not having one. You never run out of hot water. The color on your walls is really pretty and will match almost everything, Great choice. Opening those two doorways was one of the best decisions you’ve made. It’s a bit of a struggle because I don’t have the luxury of selling a home to move into the home and over the years it has seen it share of not being able to be renovated, but I’m saving and I’m working on it because I refuse to let it go. I'm watching because in the last 2 yrs both my parents passed. I grew up in a red brick home that my dad built in the 60s. Your property resembles my childhood home. My parents decided to sell their home and split the income between us 4 siblings. I tried to buy the house because I couldn't stand the thought of it being sold to someone else. I offered asking price. My dad would not let me buy it because he thought that I would have subtic problems. My childhood home now has new ownership. I wish them the best. I'm driven to watch your story because it resembles closely what I could have had. My dad had a shop to work on cars and had a huge garden and a few acres. I'm going to enjoy watching your story because it is what I wanted to do myself. God bless!

I left my son a house but he was young and unmarried so he sold it and moved to a big city. He regrets it at times and the money is long since spent. I think he did what was best for him, but he is now homeless because he cannot afford rent. So I am sad because I hoped to leave him in a good situation when I passed, but it does not look like it is going to happen. I think your dad would be very happy at what you are doing.

You will love your ridgeline. I have owned 2 Honda Odysseys 1 Honda CRV and I own a Honda Pilot now. Odysseys and Pilots are great for children and now grandkids. Love the color of the overall paint color. Living there will bring you joy.

You have plenty of property to add a bathroom to the master bedroom 👍 it would make the house value to go up 👍 we remodeled our kitchen unfortunately for my hubby I watch a lot of HGTV and I wanted an island the only way to get it was to take down the wall connected to the hallway and the other wall connected to the living room and hubby agreed I was so happy watching those walls come down and I got my 10ft island if you took that wall down between kitchen and living room it would make the house so much bigger and it might be a low bearing wall but that’s fine TEAR THE WALL DOWN AND PUT A HEADER UP IT WOULD LOOK BEAUTIFUL 😍

Hi, Your doing a great job on the reno. Those original security gates are awesome. Please don't get rid of them. It's hard to find ones like that. Use them elsewhere. You can sandblast them or have them sandblasted and spray paint. They would look brand new. Also, my husband and I were wondering why you don't knock out the wall between the kitchen and livingroom and make it open concept. It would create more room in the kitchen and living room. Plus, alot more light. Is it load-bearing? If so, a pillar would work. I'm so glad you fixed that kitchen island. It looks sooo much better. It's probably too late, but you could knock through one of the master bedroom closets going through to the hallway bathroom to make an on suite bathroom. You could then use the bathroom near the kitchen as a guest bath or keep the hallway bathroom door for another entrance. Just a thought. Keep up the great work. My condolences. Your dad would be proud. ❤

What makes it worse is the cost of all the supplies to renovate . O did 2 in my life time first one in the early 70's a speakeasy hose ad second one 10 years later a foreclosed on neglect cape cod home on a private road and retired in 2004 to VA from NJ and had a modular house built for me and hubby . Our forever home 2440 sq ft cost me 89 thousand and basement build 15 thousand and land 15 thousand 3 1/2 acre s . I am now doing floors and moldings over and new roof and new windows and gutters . GAF shingles did not even last 20 years . They gave out last year I ish I could have kept my parents farm but they sold it before I could get my first house sold . Sorry we retired from fORD motor company Edison NJ local 980 after ford decided to close the 5 year quality one plant I put in vinyl plnk and did it myself and it was easy and I am a 71 year old women .Hardest part Well really heavest part was taking up the laminate flooring . , Glad you cleared that was my bedroom the pink one . 😀

With the new position of the island seating area, maybe you can add a couple of lighting features to shine down from that center beam you will be adding as outlined at 8:05. The ceiling light cans are no longer positioned above the lower flat surface areas, after you moved the island cabinets off of their previous angle.

It's nice to see continuity with family-owned homes. I retired to my secondary home on rural acreage and my son/dil sold their house then bought my old home that's in good condition, at a very discounted price. It's been fun watching them enjoy the house and by buying it they also became debt free. I only had one child so they will eventually inherit my rural property too. Your home is going to look beautiful after the reno's and has great bones.

Yay I'm the first to comment today, your home is very similar to what I grew up in and was to be mine but a gready family member didn't make that happen so I enjoy seeing you update your's so I'm living vicariously though your videos. I'm enjoying the process and the memories bringing back good memories of our family home. You have gorgeous property to with your home nice views. My dad did put a addition on the back from the back of the kitchen to the back of your master bedroom your dinning room window was taken out in my parents house and trimmed out and that's the opening for family room and the door to master bedroom suite was on the left when you go in family room and the addition became a family room with the fireplace and with door wall to back yard and the addition part behind your current bedroom became the master bedroom with en suite (so addition from bk of house was lg bedroom with bathroom and lg closet and family room) I hope I was able to explain it correctly. It was perfect because the house became 3 bedrooms and a master bathroom with en suite and a room to play games or computer or set up holiday tables and watch snow during the holidays or power out we blocked up family room and camped out in there it was fun. Just a suggestion on what worked for us.

down draft does not have to be put below the cook top it can be put under the floor . My blower is under the floor so I don't have to listen to the noise of it either . Plus all my bathroom vents are connected to one motor in the attic . Less noisy plus only one motor to replace if anything goes wrong . 4 bathrooms connected to 1 motor . Plus cheap to install . Insulation is your friend and my attic has original insulation plus 2 layers of R 30 I have learned alot about noise polution in the home over the years . Plus they are money savers . Like my central vac system in the basement with an outlet out side to vacuum out my truck , suvs . Outlets in each room for it also . Less hose to drag around just plug in and get the job done with no noise .Remember what you might spend now will save you money in the future .

I love the colors of the walls and the new bathroom color, could you list them if you know them. Moving the kitchen around and taking out that wall made a HUGE difference it looks so good another great decision for sure. Adding a beam between the kitchen and dining area will add so much to the home as well. You don't put the couch on a wall, you put it at the end of the living room where the front door is, facing into the room so that the back of the sofa kind of makes a little hallway from the front door to the dining room. If that makes sense. Then you put the TV over the fireplace, a coffee table in front of the sofa and two chairs at either end of the window with a low table between them. 😊 The first thing I said when you walked into the house was, " No fireplace?" nut it's not my house, and it's none of my darn business. 😉

One thing I think your wife would enjoy is moving the washer and dryer to a room closer to the bedrooms. I understand most ppl have a laundry room close to the kitchen because of the waterline . But I don’t think it makes any sense to have the washer and dryer all the way on the opposite side from where the bedrooms and main bathroom is. You will enjoy the tankless water heater. Regarding the kitchen cabinets, our current house has white cabinets which I just had to have. I will never have white cabinets again. They show every speck of dust no matter how often I clean them. I’m not sure what I would change them into if I had the chance but will never have white again. I’m sure your wife will make the best choices for your family.
