Retired contractor here. Great job! TIP: When marking holes for the cabinet doors and drawers hardware, create a template, then drill drill some holes in it. You may not have all the exact same size, but saves so much time taping, measuring the front.

Just have to say this looks amazing! I also did a "down to the studs" renovation on my kitchen a couple years back having 0 experience and it can be daunting. The fact you custom made all of your cabinets is just great. I went with Ikea for my cabinets, but i do recommend the Kreg cabinet handle jig for any future drawer/doors you do. Being able to set the exact measurements and then go through all the drawers without needing to remeasure was a huge help. Awesome job looks great!

Excellent craftsmanship, love your videos! Before we moved into our house, the previous owners had given all the popcorn ceilings a "land lord special" with black and this dark grayish blue paint. We ended up using a lawn sprayer and soaking the ceiling in a mixture of vinegar and hot water to eat through the paint and saturate the popcorn. Let it soak for about 10 minutes and it scraped off in seconds with a drywall scraper after that. Only downside is the cleanup afterwards but tarping the floor pays off

I think repainting the cabinets white and leaving the island balanced it out better. My only suggestion, because the kitchen is beautiful is this. You should run a waterline over to the coffee bar. Having to refill coffee machines and the like makes it super easy. I did this for our coffee bar and its my wife favorite thing.

It’s just his opinion, and I happen to agree. He did a fantastic job, however, black cabinet pulls are timeless while brass are reminiscent of the 80’s/90’s spec home builds and be out of style in five years.

@@chalkoutline6504 black knobs last the test of time. Especially on white or grey cabinets. Same with black door hinges, door knobs, and light fixtures. Black water fixtures however don’t hold up and are hard to keep clean over time. Better to go chrome for anything with water.

Beautiful! I would consider adding an additional curtain panel to each side of your sliders to really give it a luxurious feel and make it easier to actually cover the doors when needed.

When I'm staining woods that tend to be blotchy instead of using stain I'll add some Trans Tint dye to shellac and apply it. Because the shellac (and color) stays on the surface, it doesn't penetrate the wood unevenly, which is how blotchiness occurs. After the shellac I hit it with a polyurethane topcoat and it generally looks great.
