So many memories of homes gone by, and the various levels of upgrading that we did. From customizing a spec house (our first home, in 1985), to dragging a MCM ranch toward the 21st century without compromising the mid-century esthetics. And at the turn of the century, upgrading/updating a 1994 home, which was nearly the death of me! Enjoy the fruits of your labor (or, of the hired workers)!

Beautiful! Yes, definitely need a larger light fixture over your kitchen table. You could go larger on all the light fixtures throughout because the rooms are so large. Go wider and more grand. Such a lovely home!!

Hi Marnie! Wow, that’s quite the project! We just got some wallpaper taken off and two rooms painted and that was a lot for us. Your house looks beautiful. It looked beautiful before the remodel. 😀. It’s always nice to refresh. Much easier than moving! Take care. 🤗

I loved this video!!!! I am excited to see all the stages as you go. Isn't it amazing the drastic change just some new paint can do. Some how it makes the whole house fresh and crisp again. We just did a room in our house last month. I always felt drained being in that particular room. We had painted it a color 5 years ago and once it dried it wasn't what I thought it would be. We shifted gears with color when we painted the room last month and now the whole room makes you feel happy bright and cheerful! We were amazing at what color can do to your mood! Also loving your lighting choices and hardware! You are giving me ideas....... :)

Love the updates! Love the paint color and the results. I have always thought your home is beautiful - light and bright and very warm and welcoming. I don't like the process as well. 2015 we finally made the decision to stay in our home. We gutted and remodeled inside and out and put in a pool AND we stayed in the home while it happened... NEVER AGAIN! haha! We had pendant lights, ultimately I removed them... talk about banging your head! Just make sure the height is right..too high and they are blinding when working too low and well.. you get the point. So nice to see you this morning! Be well! Hugs!

I totally agree about the "disruption"! I get Massive Anxiety with projects & especially, with people in my space. We had our kitchen & dining room "done" last winter (before co-vid, Thankfully). There was a Soffit above my peninsula that at one time had cabinets underneath. When we bought the house, it just jutted out in the middle of the room & was an eyesore. One day I got a wild hair up my tush & decided to "see what was inside". I ended up ripping the whole thing out & had a huge hole in my ceiling. Needless to say, It definitely moved the project up on my husbands priority list!!!! We had a guy come in & patch the hole, remove the popcorn ceilings- YES! Popcorn Ceiling in a Kitchen - IDIOTS!! The ceiling in my kitchen & dining room (connected) were hand textured & repainted & the walls ( Worldly Gray) & trim all fresh & new. It looks AMAZING! One day I will get the cabinets & countertops replaced- but, for now this little facelift made me happy & I can live with the rest for awhile longer. BTW, The countertops were coated with that Rustoleum epoxy treatment & the Cabinets were also faux painted to look like hickory by the previous owner to put the house on the market. - "She Slapped Lipstick on the Pig"! LOL The Pig Will need a makeover! Congrats on your Updates!!

Hi Marnie, Your house refresh looks beautiful! I love the color paint you chose for your cabinets and walls. Your new chandeliers in both the kitchen and dining room look beautiful. We painted our kitchen cabinets white and had to add some cabinets because I merged my kitchen with my mom's (she passed away and we live in the family home now). We got quartz by Cambria and the one we purchased is called Berwyn, but there is another one that is a little darker called New Quay. Check it out and see what you think. I had granite in my other home and I loved it, but the quartz is so easy and maintenance free (no sealing). I love the Berwyn because it also has tiny little silver sparkles in it and when the lights are on it really looks so pretty. We have a carrara marble beveled subway backsplash in our kitchen. I know whatever you pick will be beautiful and it will be fun to see the final result. I know the process is tiring, but when it's done you will really enjoy your home. Hang in there! xoxo, Karen

I certainly understand the frustration of having things done. We had a tornado knock down a huge tree that took down two other large trees. They all went into my dining room. That was on Easter night. So it’s been six months and the repairs are still not finished. I can’t tell you had frustrating it’s been. My house has been in disarray all this time.
