I used to volunteer at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's herbarium. It was heavenly...I was the only volunteer at the time, so I would just turn on a classical radio station and sit there all day glueing dried specimens, some of them 100 years old! I did this every Monday for about two years...it was one of the happiest times of my life!

As a child I used to press flowers and leaves between pages of old books.
@alisonburgess3453 жыл бұрын
I had to do this at hort college for all sorts of assignments. The pressings are still as good as when i did them 20 years ago - this is really worth doing everyone !

@@HilaryBarker maybe us those ready made plaques....that’s what I’ve thought of...careful with the drilling....or use 2 thrifted leather belts to wrap around it 😁☺️

Thing is: if you want to make one use MDF not wood as wood tends to warp…

Blotter paper
@melissaalexander1763 жыл бұрын
We use blotting paper and then card to stop the damp passing from one flower to another . Then we make a picture with the pressed flowers. All the info is in the video.

This was lovely, but what I'd like to know is how to protect artwork with pressed flowers without the UV light turning them pale yellow over time. Anyone know how it's done? Uv-resistant fine art framing glass is very expensive!
