As a member of a family that needs one-level accessible living, I thought this was a well-conceived floor plan. I would have like to have seen the additional bedrooms and bathrooms, though. I also liked the way the dreaded two-story height living room was handled. By using the clerestory windows and paneled ceiling, the scale was workable for human-sized interior design. For those posters who are complaining about lack of color, this house could easily be more colorful with different wall paint and furnishings, but the architecture both inside and outside were agreeably proportioned for a new build and showed so much soul and interest.

A disappointing trend I am seeing in a lot of home designs on HGTv is the TV mounted way too high above a fireplace, as a focal point. Why pay a designer $$$$ to end up with a visually and ergonomically poor design for TV viewing? It’s an eyesore, a neck sore, and we all know this can be done better. It’s what you pay designers for.

We’re saying that there used to be variety on this channel but for a while every place looks like every other place. People are allowed to say they feel like a channel has gotten boring that they used to like. It’s ok to say something isn’t what they like currently. There’s nothing bad about that.
