It's great to see another video from you! You have a unique sensibility, personality, and way of presenting information that I enjoy. My impression is that you present information logically, showcasing visual beauty, and infuse your commentary with your own individual personality and sense of humor. You really stand out from other designers out there, even if you may sometimes overlap in the trends you are talking about! Thanks Vivien! BTW, I loved the idea of color drenching using two different tones of the same color; I had not seen that before and it looks so much more nuanced than just painting everything the same color!

I added mixed metals to my home decore a few years back and they will have to pry them out of my cold dead hands before I change them out because I LOVE how it looks. Great video! And I love your interpretation on trends, SPOT on! Have a wonderful and healthy 2025!

Victorian Clutter is what I call it. We like to keep our "stuff" piled up around us. But guests still have to be able to get to the hall bathroom. 🤔 Let there be cupboards in my bookcases! This is a fantastic video! You're the best designer on KZbin. And as somebody else said, your example photos are spectacularly illustrative of what you're saying. Bravo!❤

I have had several workers to come in our home and commented that they loved my home, it reminded them of their grandmothers house. I wasn’t sure how to take that, it seemed to be a compliment on our home, but then again left me feeling maybe I am old, outdated in my taste. I have surrounded myself with the comforts of pieces I inherited from my parents and grandparents. As it turns out, an interior designer friend told me that my style is called Grandmacore, which is actually making a big comeback. That did make me breathe a sigh of relief, but even when the trends change I will still be over here enjoying my great grand parents old fashioned furniture and art 😊❤ I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you!

Subscribed! Your commentary is intelligent and with excellence throughout. Concealed doors in "old school" design was called a "jib door". We had two of them in a previous house incorporated in an octagonal entryway with upholstered walls fitted with jib doors that concealed closets. I also appreciate that Maximalism today does not mean hoarding, but is intentional and considered, even edited, while layered. I double drenched our living room with BM linen white walls with BM Ladyfinger contrast trim. Its based on early California interiors in Monterey, CA that influenced me growing up. So pretty, and looks lovely with wood furniture. I added a new curved sofa and and added to my collection of artisan studio pottery. Its all the things I have always loved now combined together.

Texture yes, a few curves yes, smart home tech at some stage, and a few mixed metals but not cheesy brass. A big no to burgundy been trying to get that out of my house for 17yrs along with orange timber drenching. Just want a calming neutral palette with some black contrast, some greenery and organic, modern and a little lux. After living with a hoarder for over 30yrs I want simpler lines, not much out but to live within my clutter threshold and everything in its place. Hygge is my overall style and atmosphere. Am working on it. Happy holidays.

I wish there was an easy way for renters to do most of these. It seems like they're mainly intended for homeowners.
@jstokesАй бұрын
The best advice I heard for renters and even those with a limited budget was to focus on the "touchpoints", meaning things you touch: a really good hand soap for the bathroom; really good towels you can buy during a sale, changing out plastic switch plates for attractive ones and then putting the old ones back when you move. Focus things you can take with you like art. Even just having a lovely arrangement of your favorite objects.
@schw0373Ай бұрын
@@jstokes That's good advice...but what I really want to do are the big things, like change out the flooring (even peel and stick tile would be great, but that will ruin my apartment's wood floors), add arched doorways, tear down walls, etc. But I obviously can't do those things and can't afford to buy a place right now.

Colour drenching is soo 1980s. Back then you would choose a colour or pattern and every surface would have that bestowed on it; walls, floors, curtains, sofas, cushions, etc. One comic duo even did a comedy sketch, check out French & Saunders. That killed that particular trend for many years

@rockshot1002 ай бұрын
Posh, have you ever been in a space with brick walls and the same brick floor, AND the same brick ceiling? I feels like you went through the looking glass. Color drenching does this if you don't have tons of architectural detail. Otherwise, disconcerting AF. It will not age well. The very high gloss ceilings do magic, I rolled on a high gloss oil based paint and it worked. Contrary to what you would think, it raises the ceiling. "Color of the year", what a great way to follow a fad, and date a room, only to have to repaint in 2 years. I am crazy about the murals. BTW, wallpaper is outlandishly expensive these days. Do you know why??? Back in the day, it was mostly the same price as paint, unless a designer line or grass cloth. Tech in my opinion is going too far. Mechanisms to open the drapes and turn the lights on and off, don't make sense, and too many remotes to keep track of. This is just to sell novelty product that nobody will use after the first week. Thanks for the up-date and post.
