HOUSECORE FILM FEST (w/Sammy & Phil) on Robbs MetalWorks 2013

I've been interviewing bands for a long time and even after my retirement in 2009 there was only ONE real motive for coming back to the fold,....& that was for the pure excitement and anticipation that came along with capturing special, one-of-a-kind moments on film. Fortunately, the Crew & I have had the opportunity to partake in many of those throughout the years & this past weekend at the 1st Annual HOUSECORE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL we were once again reminded why we do it all. This interview in simple terms represents a collaboration of goodwill, brotherhood, fate and just simple magic. How it all came together was quite spectacular -- taking into consideration that Hate Eternal's, Erik Rutan, was almost a part of it,....and later, how Phil miraculously jumped in. I will first say that I was very happy to reconnect with my friend and legend in his own right, Goatwhore guitarist, Sammy Duet, whom I've had a long relationship with. It was a reconnection of like minds and passions for heavy music and the chemistry and informality of it all is pretty evident. In the end, despite not really talking about anything specific at length (though Phil does speak out on Kirk's departure from Down) -- this interview represents just a moment in time,....a 'metal' night,....a moment in history,.....a reminder of all the intangibles that come along with supporting special events and special people. ~ El Mero Metal
