I've often read (or witnessed myself) that our passions are what keep us alive,...whether that be music, art or even a video show. The apprehension of retirement is born from that revealing fact & that's why its so often hard to let go. We surely don't want to die NOR do we want the impact of our work to be lost within the annals of time. Thus, we let our passions thrive, so that we can continue to live, be driven & have purpose. After a 45 year career these thoughts began to linger in my mind as I recently crossed paths with LONG standing & LEGENDARY axeman, Mr. Geoff Thorpe of Vicious Rumors on March 30th, 2024, at Fitzgerald's Bar & Live Music Venue. Beginning his carreer out of the San Francisco metal scene in 1979, Geoff has NEVER wavered in delivering his blend of power & thrash metal to the fans; and after 13 official studio albums, Vicious Rumors, is not only continuing to perform vibrant, energetic sets around the globe, but also persevering to write & deliver blistering music, which has kept the band as well known & respected today as in the decades prior. So, it was a HONOR to connect with a musician who has given SO much of himself to the worldwide metal scene. In the interview below you will see us discuss the following: his history in SA, the busy touring year, celebrating the band's 1st release, 'Soldiers of the Night', their unique sound, NEW music & his illustrious career. I met this dude last night before the VR/Raven show and he really is a class act. Geoff and VR rock
