I was wondering the same thing but on closer inspection those "pegs" are angled upward, so I guess it's to ensure they aren't angled oddly. Though I highly doubt it would make any difference between using the level and just eyeballing it.

The pin is pinned diagonally to the wall to have better strenght and to prevent the screw from falling. If it was not leveled the screw would be off.

I have owned most of these googaws. Of all of them, the pocket chainsaw is actually useful for specific situations, and the magno-grip would be great, if magnetic parts trays weren't world's better.

Yeah but those are most useful when working with metal so you can stick it within reach. However I'd rather just go to harbor freight and pick up some neodymium magnets and sew them into a wrist band.

The "mag grip" thing actually works pretty darn well. You can't over-load it as you noticed, or stuff will drop. But adding three or four when you're going up a ladder or something it's really handy. If you can get one for a reasonable price, it's worth having for going up a ladder or working under a car.
