Shanon, I follow every video you have and enjoy each one. I have a comment for your crosscut jig. I built one a few years ago that is very similar to yours. The only difference is that I attached two 1 x strips on the outer edges of the rails. Then whenever I establish the angle of the cut I need, I simply use small "C" clamps to fasten the sliding track to the strips, rather than screw and unscrew it to the rails. Thank you for all of your efforts to provide us with such a wide selection of valuable information!!

This is great! Every time I have a question, you answer it. I was just thinking, I've never seen a true sheet of shop ply, and then you addressed it.

Thank you for this jig, made this today , This made my First time installing vertical board and batten siding very easy to cut. First time for any siding.

Excited that you posted this as this has been on my list for a while. I look forward to watching your video to see how it compares to a track saw.

Great video. I'm replacing the siding on my house and this will come in handy. I think I'll set mine up to make angle cuts and make the bed adjustable for siding with different thicknesses.

I had been struggling with getting square cuts on my chopsaw for a couple years. Was driving me mad. Almost bought a new saw then I discovered that the fence was adjustable! Some tweaking and cuts are square again. I felt like a total fool, but a lesson I will never forget! Who knew that you had to adjust a saw every now and again! I guess this is what happens when you are mostly self taught!

Looks good. I'd be tempted to add end stops on the sled. Might go all the way through with the saw if you've had a beer or two.

This is genius! Obviously, from the makers of the 3-Ply TP Triplicator. I don't do enough woodwork to justify buying a table saw, but I do enough to sometimes need one. Space is also a big issue in a small home. This would be perfect! Thank you! Plus, kittens make terrible table saws!

Thanks for making the video. I am about to put vinyl on my WI lake house and then need to help my son replace his 18 mos. vinyl due to manufacturer defects. I plan to buy the lumber to make this today. FYI... there is an error in your build plan. For the "SB" side extensions you have them listed as 16 x 52.... obviously, they need to be 16 x 48.

Hi Shannon, I'm new to your channel and have subscribed. I have been wanting to make one of these for some time now. I was going to use linear rails with ball bearings that would be on the bottom of the circular saw base and could slide back and forth. That would cost about $100.00 dollars after all of the parts are bought, but your design will be much less money to construct. I have watched many variations of the jig and one thing I liked and you touched upon was the 1-1/2" holes on the kerf line every 3" so you can see the line on the material to be cut.

I was thinking maybe a piece of wood on both sides to keep the saw from cutting it completely in half. Really cool idea. I just don't have a garage to build anything useful like this.
@HouseImprovements
@HouseImprovements 4 жыл бұрын
The guild is long enough you should not have to push the saw all the way across ,which leaves an uncut end that will hold it together.

Would have liked a demo of the jig. I think you're great with the presentation and the details of your projects, but when you're done, you should demo...like this jig, or step back and get a nice wide camera shot of what you just did. I just watched your deck building videos...(fantastic btw)...but at the end...I really would have like to see the camera pan back to show the finished product (the deck)..and maybe a little walk around...walk up the one staircase..show the deck perspective from on the deck...then walk down the other staircase...go out in the back yard and give wide angle view. I mean that's the piece de resistance no? When you've finished...you step back and admire for a second.

Nice Idea Shannon, but how do you tell where you are cutting on the siding beneath the crosscut sled?
@HouseImprovements
@HouseImprovements 4 жыл бұрын
You mark the product you are cutting and slide it in until you see your mark in the viewing hole I cut. You can then line your mark up to the cut in the jig that your blade made. I should have shown a close up of that.

Rather than cutting a "peep hole" I have to wonder if using Plexi might be a good alternative. Certainly not as cheap I suppose though...
@HouseImprovements

Plexi will be so scratched after limited use you would not see though it. IMO.
