I was a Security Manager at a major casino in Vegas for almost a decade and I can tell you that employee theft in hotels isn't new. It's extremely common. Theft is a crime of opportunity and the turn-over rate for housekeeping and hotel staff is high in the industry. Use the safe. Keep valuables with you when you leave if possible and don't let them clean your room until you leave the hotel. If you're one of those people that require your room cleaned daily, you're better off hiding your stuff in your vehicle (the parking lots and garages still get broken into but at least they are monitored by CCTV)

Going back, maybe 11 years ago now, I was checking in to SSR at WDW, and our credit card got copied from a CM who worked the front desk. It wasn't until we arrived back home at the end of the week, and went to fill up with gas that it got declined. I called the CC company from the gas station, and they needed me to verify some transactions, both were in Texas, we had not traveled to Texas. We confirmed the incorrect charges, and they issued us a new card. At the time did not know how the card had gotten compromised, but were happy it was just a couple of charges, and the CC company had corrected it. A few months later we received a letter in the mail from the Sheriff's department in FL. They had arrested the front desk member working at SSR, and notified us our card was one of many that had been stolen. They continued to follow-up with correspondence about the prosecution of the CM involved. The CM eventually plead guilty to all charges. So long story short, even at a Disney resort, you just can't trust people completely.

I can’t agree with you, Tom. As a mom of 3 children, it is my job to teach my children about sexuality. It is not the job of a teacher. As a teacher who has taught children from Pre-K through 12th grade, there is no reason for a teacher to be teaching children ages 3-8 about sexuality. Children should be allowed to be innocent and focus on learning math, reading, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, and any other regular subject in school. As it is now, far too many students are failing at the basics. That’s what schools should be focusing on. I have seen my children traumatized by liberal teachers who use novels to push their own agenda. I’ll never underway something adults steal the innocence of young children. The Florida bill has been mis-characterized an the “Don’t say gay bill.” The bill is about not teaching any type of sexuality to children from Pre-K through Grade 3. It never mentions “gay.” That was put out there by people with an agenda. I applaud Gov. DeSantis for standing up for the right of parents to decide when and how they will talk to their children about sexuality. Parents care for and support their children. Disney has never, nor will it ever, care for or support my children. I think that Gov. DeSantis was sending Disney a message to stay in their lane. Gov. DeSantis doesn’t tell Disney how to make their movies or design their parks, and Disney, as an entertainment company, should stay out of politics. Fortunately, the very liberal agenda of some Disney executives has been exposed. It seems to me that it’s time for Disney to get its own house in order. Disney getting involved in parents’ rights is an overreach. They may find that they are not and will not be supported by many families who formerly spent their hard-earned money to visit Disney parks or to see Disney movies. As both a DVC member and an Annual Passholder, I’m considering whether or not I wish to continue supporting Disney.
@judygarceau16842 жыл бұрын

I’ve never had tech or money stolen in hotels but I’ve been to hotels in Europe where my make up or perfume goes missing but when I mention it to the manager their excuse is that I must have mislaid it or they don’t understand what I’m saying. Luckily as a make up artist I label everything with my name (even my personal stuff that I don’t use with customers) so nothing can be mistaken for someone else’s. As a child, I remember trick or treating, and doing EXACTLY what the sign in the candy bowl said. “Please take one.” I did this not just because it would be nice if other children could have candy too (never fun walking all the way up there for nothing but disappointment) but mostly because I feared that this was some sort of social experiment. As a child of the 80s and 90s, I truly believed that someone was recording my actions, or at the very least, hiding in the bushes, ready to pop out and scare whoever didn’t obey the sign. I am surprised that grown adults don’t only just have this same fear when they help their children to take more, but at their own place of work. The other day I foolishly left a box set of DVDs in the passenger seat of my convertible, with the windows and top down, while I was at Target for 20 minutes. I mainly follow Disney news because I am fascinated with theme park construction, so I appreciate the coverage of both Connections and Arendale. It bothers me, though, that Disney will happily duplicate Arendale in both Paris and Tokyo while knowing full well that they will be inferior to the Hong Kong version (due to not having the Sliding Sleighs coaster). Same for Paris getting a much better version of Avengers Campus, and WDW getting a (somewhat) better version of Galaxy's Edge. I understand the desire to duplicate lands (for financial reasons), and I understand why guests will welcome it. But at least do a full copy-paste, not a partial one. Individual attractions are easier to forgive, but Tron: Lightcycle Run was never meant to be ripped out of the context given by Shanghai's sleek Tomorrowland aesthetic and Asian influences. For example, the rippling canopy was meant to allude to a dragon. WDW's Tomorrowland has neither the architectural nor cultural setting for that canopy.

Please do not put me in that position. We are either Americans looking for unity or we aren't. It's that simple. I need you right now to be the leaders to stand up against this nonsense and say "Enough." I need you to say "We think all people are equal, important, and have a right to be validated." I need you to publicly acknowledge that you accept that varying opinions are ok, and that canceling each other is not the best thing for any of us and is not the world we are striving to achieve. I need you to say "We welcome people of all beliefs, religions, political affiliation, color, gender, and math aptitude and we are not interested in being part of the woke cancel culture that alienates half of the United States and possibly even the world." Disney execs reacted in fear to far-left activists within the company who misrepresented or purposely lied about the facts of the 'Parental Rights' bill & then the left-wing media tagged along to promote "disinformation". Did the CEO or attorneys even bother reading the 6 page bill? Obviously, no. Many years ago we were on the "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" ride at WDW during which the voice over warns "Dive! Dive!". RESORT HOTEL THEFT. HOUSEKEEPING IS NOT THE ONLY POTENTIAL SOURCE! We have stayed on property numerous, numerous times throughout the past 45 years to include value, moderate, deluxe, and DVC properties. We have been very fortunate not to have items stolen from our rooms (but we've always used the in-room safes when they've been offered). HOWEVER, WHAT REALLY bothers us now is the fact that WDW resort staff MUST come in and check our room EACH day, even if we are in the room and/or have the "PRIVACY PLEASE" (Do Not Disturb) sign on the door, and have declined room service. CM's have been very insistent and pushy about coming in our room to check. THEY ARE ALSO A POTENTIAL TO TAKE ITEMS FROM YOUR ROOM. It's not just housekeeping (who have been great with us). I really do not like the forced check! I'm so appreciative that Marriot Hotels or Marriot Vacation Clun Resorts in the area do not do this mandatory daily room check.
@Creativekylie2 жыл бұрын
I believe the mandatory checks are for weapons and stock piling 😧 i saw one cast member say they really hated having to do them because they were young and people would yell at them for needing to check the room. I’ve never heard of any other hotel do this!

A couple of years ago we were staying on property & this happened to me. I was in the shower & the only one in the room at the time. I heard loud knocking & banging at the door & thought it was one of our kids wanting in the room. I was yelling “just a minute” but the banging continued. I was quickly getting out of the shower to throw some clothes on to see what was going on when I could hear the door unlock & started opening. Thankfully I had the extra latch thing across the top of the door which prevented it from being open all the way since I wasn’t completely dressed at that time. I went to the door & opened it & to my surprise it was a male cast member starting to walk away from the door. I asked him what he was doing trying to come in my room when I had the do not disturb sign out. He was VERY rude & combative telling me that he has every right to enter my room whenever he feels like it!!! Not apologizing like you think he would have! I did not back down to his aggressive behavior. I told him he could’ve checked someone else room who didn’t have the sign up & come back to my room when the sign was down. Why would you choose to enter a room with the sign up when you could still check that room but check it when the sign is down? There were plenty of rooms to check with no sign up. I was scared & shaking at the fact that this man had tried to come into my room while I was in the shower! If I hadn’t had the latch across the top he wouldn’t come in with only me in the room & in the shower!! This is totally unacceptable & unsafe to say the least.

@@kdash7 Very interesting reply Kendra. We thought it was just us who were being harassed at WDW hotels!! The CMs have disturbed us on a number of occasions even when the Do Not Disturb sign is on the door. And most every CM has been rude and pushy and demanding. They say "It is on their list and it needs to be checked right now--I cannot come back later!" On one occasion, we were taking a nap when the "knock" came. The CM didn't care that we were taking a nap....and he would not consider coming back after we had finished our nap and returned to the parks. (Do you ever wonder why the have the "Do Not Disturb:" signs?? This is yet another example where the "WDW Magic" is going away. Although I prefer to stay "on property", I can stay at a nearby Marriott Vacation Club Resort (2 BR, 2 Bath, Full Kitchen, and great amenities) for less money than it costs to stay at a WDW Value Resort! Yes, I said Value Resort"! Wow! And Marriott VC doesn't charge for parking like Disney Resort Hotels do! But again, we enjoy staying on property, but we are glad we have choices!!
