I so agree with you. I’ve done every type of kitchen over the years, and last year I put in a white kitchen - despite the fact that KZbin influencers were saying it was out - and I love it. And it’s so easy to change the look of it by just swapping out the accessories.

I agree I have a white beautiful kitchen it brings me a sense of freshness and cleanliness. Well my kitchen is always clean and organized which helps the feeling I’m you going for however the white I have is a warm white because there are hundreds of whites to choose from. A white kitchen is timeless in my opinion

I have had every kind of kitchen, too, and just remodeled our 14 year old kitchen last year. I went from walnut colored cabinets that were all the rage in 2010, to white cabinets. I’ve never been happier than when I’ve had white kitchens, lol! I swear my mental health is so affected by dark interiors. Fresh, white,, clean and bright is what’s best for me! Plus thank the Lord, white cabinets are classic, so for me it’s a win-win!

I feel like shades of taupe, grey, brown or black cabinets are such versatile neutrals, that are easy to combine with other decor and can give a cozier ambience, whereas too much white can at times overall feel too redundant, but to each their own most cozy atmosphere

I agree! A white kitchen doesn’t have to feel sterile- most times, our living spaces will be filled with our everyday stuff so it won’t look all white. There’s also so many other ways to warm up a white kitchen… with back splash, hardware, window coverings, beautiful wood toned bowls, etc.

I just bought a brand new house that I didn’t get to pick colors on but the builder hired a designer to choose. The kitchen has white shaker cabinets on the perimeter with a medium brown wood island. I love it and it looks timeless to me. I don’t think I will ever grow tired of it, but my style leans more traditional than modern.

Same. My perimeter cabinets are white, but the island is clad in a medium stacked stone. I pile on the wood things on the perimeter. Maybe that shows we are moving to the wood tones (and we are) and I am fighting the white, but I do like the balance of still having some white.

About 20 years ago, I painted my cabinets a creamy white, put on solid black granite countertops, and added brass hardware. My countertops and walls have changed color but I’ve NEVER tired of my white cabinets. I want to see my kitchen is clean and with the flat fronts I can wipe it top to bottom quickly, with the other elements it never feels cold or uninviting. Currently my walls and ceiling are a soft blue and my accents are matte black, brushed nickel and natural wood in cutting boards.

I respectfully disagree with your kitchen advice. The more ornate the cabinet (particularly the ridged ones shown) the harder to keep clean! Dust and splatter will become the nemesis of the homeowner. White cabinets are a great foundation where personality can be brought in through flooring, backsplash, countertop, stools, etc. I think colored cabinets can become tiring fast and are a big undertaking to switch out. I also think dark walls and cabinets can become a chipped nightmare. I had dark moody walls in my bathroom and they looked sloppy quickly because when you live in and use a space chips and damage happen even when you are careful so I ultimately had to lighten them and it’s been shocking how much brighter and more pleasant it feels.

I have dark spaces. I keep touch up paint nearby and do a sweep of the room as needed. It keeps it feeling sophisticated. It’s also nice not to be too careful around the walks. It’s a lot less stressful.

In 1985, when we built our house, we did an all white kitchen. Flat front cabinets, white backsplash, white counters. Our entire house has stained oak baseboards & trim. Over the years, we've changed the counters to black granite, changed the backsplash, the taps/hardware, flooring, lighting and wall colours, but have always stuck with the white cabinets & stained baseboards/ trim. 40 years later, the kitchen is due for a complete remodel and reconfigureation with new windows, doors, cabinets, counters, etc. I'm sticking with white cabinets & stained oak baseboards/ trim. My new island will be stained to match the trim. Traditional, timeless & has outlasted all trends, in my opinion. If you want to do trends, stick with wall paint colours and textiles. Something that is easy & affordable to change.

I think the white kitchen will always have its place. I live in an antique home with a whole wall that is fireplace/ hearth very dark wood, and then my cabinets are all white slabs. I do have a large center island that is black. Natural patina wide pine floors. Lots of pothos and, most importantly, butcherblock counter tops, which warms the space up. I can't imagine more color in my kitchen, it would feel dark and cramped.

We redid our dark cherry wood tiny kitchen last year and if we were going to stay I might have gone a bit warmer but since we are likely to sell in the next 5 years I went with white, but did a profile with slightly more interest then a plain shaker but not too ornate. We warmed it up with gold hardware and a wood table and it ended up feeling so fresh and clean which is what I think a lot of people look for when buying! I think a styling can go a long way to bring in the trends without having to invest a huge amount

Agree with most of what you say, but disagree on quilts and white kitchen cabinets. For quilts, it depends on texture, color and fabric. The examples you showed from Pottery Barn hurt my eyes! As for white kitchen cabinets, this depends on the color (there are many gorgeous "white" paints out there), the style of cabinet face, and lastly, whether you mix with other materials, such as an island with a different wood used so the area is not monotonous. White style cabinets can really make a kitchen light and airy and elevate the look. There is so much nuance here : )

I have had white cabinets in each of my homes for over 30 years. Never got tired of them. Just remodeled and my designer helped me pick a creamy, beautiful white. I love them. I am already over the colors, especially navy. I feel bad for those who have done them.
@MyLifeRefining16 күн бұрын
I think we are learning to go with what we like regardless of trends. Also, one person can say Japandi is boring and such but their black, white and beige home is exciting and fun, but I will come along and see both as stodgy and dull, and find beauty in a traditional and classic more “cottage farmhouse” with a white cabinet kitchen and beadboard backsplash. I will find sweetness in flowers and a connection to the past in quilts and other handwork. It’s all good! I really wish designers would focus o more on helping people define what they like rather than helping them find what is stylish or not. But I suppose many people want that, and as someone who wants to create a home we love to be in not something that is possibly ready to sell in 5-10 years, I likely just see the whole thing through a very different perspective than many.

I love a white kitchen ❤ . The thing that frustrated me the most is base cabinets. I prefer drawers. You can make the fronts to resemble base cabinets without having to get on your hands and knees to look for something. I also prefer wall ovens. It puts a big strain on my back to bend over. The other thing I do not like is a microwave over a range top or a vent hood at eye level. Pantries are wonderful. Hideaway ladders are nice for reaching upper cabinets. There's no reason in today's society that we should have to sacrifice efficiency alongside beauty we should be able to have both. The kitchen is an important part of your home. You should make it as enjoyable as you can
@HappyHarryX519 күн бұрын
In the house I designed I put 41 drawers in the white kitchen and loved them. I put drawers in the laundry, bathrooms and bedrooms too. The cabinet maker refused to put drawers directly under the sinks. Love the microwave at bench height which is the safest for handling hot bowls and plates.

Hi I live in a 200 year old Welsh stone cottage and I would agree that cottage core as a trend is dead and seems a bit incongruous in a modern home. We are currently preparing to replace the kitchen and bathroom and will only be using heritage colours and design in order to maintain the history of the house. Ive seen many design videos saying that Belfast sinks and range ovens are out of fashion but its what this house has always had. It would be cheaper to go with modern 😊

We live in the PNW where it’s dark and rainy for a lot of the year. It’s probably why I crave color in my rooms, because it’s dark outside so often. I love quilts but they are never the focal point of a room in my home…think folded neatly on the end of a bed is good enough.

And I have to add.. the idea of quilts representing a rustic or country aesthetic is basic and limiting. I see so many designers using historic textiles to add life and meaning to their eclectic and non rustic spaces. Valentina, you’ve got to pull away from pushing cheap/fake box store artwork and bring pieces with originality and history, made from real human hands.. bring these into your home… THIS is the real “trend”. Doesn’t have to be expensive either!

It’s funny when we moved into our inherited house and we had to do so much. It was so dark. The thing I loved the most was the big kitchen ( only big room in the house). It had carpet and was dark. The newly painted cabinets made me so happy. They were not trending. Then a few years ago everyone wanted white cabinets. I have lots of red Blenko glass and we painted the floor. People love my kitchen and we never get tired of our white cabinets. I think they are timeless. One of my clients did a Tuscany kitchen remodel that took six months. The next year the trend said it was out. I said to her who cares. I asked her if she still loved it and she did. I would put a quilt in a bedroom if we had a really pretty one. To each their own. ❤❤❤

We are building and I chose shaker style cabinets with the colour Gettysburg Grey by BM. I’m excited to see how it turns out. It’s a green/grey, as we are surrounded by 20+ acres and nestled into trees❤

My kitchen cabinets are gray and shaker style with a bit less green undertone than the beautiful color you chose. I did a new kitchen in 2018 (commercial building converted into a residence/lots of natural light) and could have done anything since I was starting from scratch. I love them as much today as the day they arrived. I get many compliments when friends come over. I think you’ll be pleased!

@ thanks for letting me know:) It’s so hard picking, but I went with my gut. We have a lot of natural light too, so I’m sure it will be fabulous. Enjoy your kitchen for many years to come!

I have followed you for many years and never knew you had a second YT or IG! Yay! Can’t wait to check it out. I think white kitchens are beautiful ❤

I completely agree with your opinion that peach is a faded orange and although I love both of those fruits, I really couldn’t live in those colors! I’ve heard you refer to your home as cottage before. When I think of cottage, I think of a small cozy home. Your home seems way too big to be considered cottage :)

I have a Nantucket style home. White was the way to go, no question. It’s timeless, it’s beautiful, it’s a blank canvas to style, and it just feels more sanitary (I guess there’s a reason commercial and industrial kitchens are usually always white with stainless appliances). We’ve lived here 15 years now and I’ve never regretted the choice 😁

I could never be happy in a white kitchen. Other people would never have anything else. Thank goodness we all have different taste!

I hated white kitchens when they were popular. Definitely would never get them or buy a house with them. But others love.. so like most trends you definitely get the most when you just get what you love and keep it.

I think some of the trend styles work better in vacation homes and/or pied-a-terre apartments. Quilts and cottage core are great at a weekend cabin or cottage. Japandi is great in a place where you don't live year-round -- its minimalism means it always looks nice with low maintenance. A lot of places we see in high-end magazines aren't main residences -- Cotswolds, Hamptons, ski chalets, etc.

Quilts of yesteryear have changed. They are muted and relaxing. Self care is in and quilting represent comfort and meditation. It is here to stay but it has evolved.

I agree 100% with you regarding white cabinets! Cold and sterile. I've renovated several times (we've moved); black walnut is timeless, warm, and versatile (I think), not to mention beautiful. I will always choose wood over other materials when it comes to cabinets.

Valentina, your style is truly chic and timeless. I adore the black and white palette, complemented by taupe, charcoal gray, and dark stone blue or navy. Metallic accents I love is silver , soft gold, and gunmetal add depth, with a mix of shiny, matte, and textured finishes.🖤🤍 My personal style has evolved, influenced by 1950s, futuristic flair and ultra-modern design. However, I've grown to appreciate 18th-century French elegance, balanced with art deco touches and ultra-modern pieces. I'd love for you to bring your expertise to a few rooms in my home, merging disparate elements into a cohesive, sophisticated whole. Thank you for sharing your insights and curated selections. Wishing you and your family a joyous new year

Peach always reads fleshtone to me. I just think walls, pillows, furniture made of flesh and it grosses me out a little.

My home is traditional built in the 90's. We remodeled our kitchen a year ago with off white cabinets. We chose traditional raised panel cabinet doors because they match our doors and fireplace. Hardwood floors, honey gold hardware, and other wood accents warm it up. I also have a zellige like tile backsplash with cream and beige multicolored tiles. It adds texture and dimension, and hopefully makes it not so boring! What I like about my white kitchen is that I can always change it up with decor items. I also have some upper glass doors to display my pottery collection. I love the English Cottage look, but my house is more transitional, with collections here and there. Enjoyed your video!

Literally just finished redoing my kitchen and did a white shaker and carried the white quartz counter up the wall 😂I am absolutely obsessed. It took a dark room and made it feel light and airy and CLEAN! I totally appreciate color though, but I love the white. Do what makes you happy ❤

Too late my cabinets are all white but I do have a lot of wood tone colors in my accessories and my kitchen still looks amazing. We did redo our island and did that in black but with the kitchen layout we have they are not really in the same space. Have a happy New Year

I am happy to hear you say this. I am so over white kitchens. I’ve been renting in a major urban area for a decade. My luxe high rise kitchen had white shaker cabinets in 2015. It’s time that style goes away.

Wow, I'm so glad I went on to read the comments. I'm getting ready to redo my kitchen. I have a house by the beach with a ocean view. I'm not sure what color cabinets I'm getting but a classic white cabinet kitchen with black counter tops is a definite consideration. Marble backsplash. I was disappointed to hear Valentina say pick anything but white cabinets. I'm so happy to see so many people stil love white cabinets. Yea! I love what Valentina has done with her home. It's stunning. I will continue following her because I do love her aesthetic.

Peach just reminds me of the 80’s. We used to have peach and terracotta wallpaper in our hall in the 80’s. Not for me anymore.

We layer a quilt under a thicker blanket in the winter. Keeps everyone warm when it's super cold out & you don't have to crank the heat which can dry out the air.

My kitchen is small and I have low ceilings. I remodeled and now have white cabinets going up to the ceiling, marble backsplash, quartzite countertops, and a beautiful range hood in white with a gold trim. I LOVE IT!!! The accessories and marble backsplash, and countertop give my kitchen personality. White is in for me.

I love PB quilts especially the solid colors. I use the neutral colors on my beds it’s easier for me to change pillow colors for the seasons and floral arrangements or greenery arrangements. I do like a duvet as well in case I get cold during the night.

I have always and only decorated “cottage/farmhouse”… long before Joanna Gaines was born. I’m an interior decorator by profession, so various color and accessory trends come and go in my own home, but as a country girl in an 120 yr old farmhouse, my own style is a constant, but I can still have fun changing up pillows, window treatments and hardware to keep things fresh!

I’ve had my white kitchen for 6 years. It’s so bright and inviting and love it every day. I just change out my decorative accents and it feels new every time and a lot cheaper than changing the color of my cabinets!

I’m a top realtor in 2 states and we coach our clients to select timeless classic looks that can be adjusted with hardware or personal decor. Colored cabinets are always trendy. White or carefully solid wood w/stain are more classic. 😊

Being a Scandi, I grew up with white kitchens, white kitchens are still popular here, as is lighter tones of wood. Normally we do butcher block countertops, and maybe pattern or marble backsplash. Black or colored metal hardware. I have never liked black or dark kitchens. We don't get much light in the wintertime, and those dark kitchens and even walls make me depressed! 😅 I have a blue/greyish colored kitchen myself, installed in 2019. I feel this color is getting dated sooner than white. I love english cottages, would absolutely recommend a trip to the Cotswalds. Those stone houses with the pale grey/green doors and window surrounds. And the gardens. 😍Not visiting UK again this year, I was just in London, and Surrey before Christmas. Going to Juan les Pins, France this summer for 2 weeks, I have rented a super modern apartment overlooking the ocean. I hope to visit a few antiques shops when I'm there.

I agree with most things that you say & do…. BUT, when it comes to the white kitchen, I❤ a white kitchen. Of course my kitchen is white and black but why all the hate toward white kitchens?! It classic, it’s eternal and it just looks clean & sharp. There are all kinds of ways to warm it up. I have lots of wood and black accents to bring it to life and warm it up.
