Nick, for your staghorn, place a piece of natural fiber rope in the back center of the plant where it touches the wood and then place a jar at the bottom and put the other end of the rope in the jar and water them from there using the wicking method. If you tie a knot in the rope before you place it behind the plant it will hold better. That way you will see the jar dry up of water and all you have to do is put some more water in the jar. I used wire to attach an old fashion big pickle jar to mine and the amount of watering I do has dropped to once every two weeks. Also make sure the rope touches the bottom of the jar to get every drop of water for the plant.

In my opinion, most of those statement type of plants, we kind of love at first sight, but as time goes by, we realize that they are not our favorites. The "basic" ones, just with simple green leafs, are the ones I always keep preferring. Just like with clothes and even people. If you only could keep 5 to 10 plants, which ones would you choose?? 😊😊
@jiminsmorningcoffee39524 жыл бұрын
True. Everytime I see a philodendron Spiritus Sancti, I always silently pray to have one but I'm scared I'd get over the feeling once I actually get it. Because it happened with some other plants I won't mention.😅 My actual favorites, I propagate like crazy because I want one in every corner of my house if the light conditions permit. I want to see them all the time. Now, I have almost 200 species in my house but if I have to choose just a few, I'd choose: 1. philodendron gloriosum 2. alocasia Black Velvet 3. syngonium Bold Allusion 4. maranta leuconeura 5. aglaonema rotundum 6. homalomena wallisii 7. dieffenbachia Memoria Corsii 8. var. wax ivy 9. var. string of hearts 10. var. ficus triangularis They're all very basic and relatively easy to care for and they're all really pretty specially when they're thick and happy.

Yes, Aglaonemas and prayer plants have unique intricate patterns on their leaves, they're unbelievable. But besides my Ags and my prayer plants, the plants I have that always get that "Is that real?" reactions are my Homalomena wallisii, Dieffenbachia Tropic Mariane and variegated wax ivy. These three have been loving their spot in my home that they all look lush and almost unreal. Love your videos. I always seem to find a new plant to fall in love with every time I watch one of your videos. I stayed away from tilandsias because I always felt that I had to DIY holders first before I get them. Something interesting happened when you looked at the Sanseveria close up like that. There is an American Movement of art with lines of color that go straight up and down and side by side of different sizes. They can cover an entire wall. The way to experience it is to walk as closely up to the art piece as possible, the lines of color cover your entire peripheral vision and you just stand there and take it in. You can get a sense of feeling of the artist while he is painting it. You are just a natural ;)
