This goes to show how much of a failure our justice system is. “He’s been arrested 18 times since 2008.” Yeah, I think maybe 18 times is enough to just keep him locked away for good. There’s an important distinction to be made. This perp wasn’t convicted 18 times of felony charges. Instead, he was arrested 18 times. @120VDualShockSurvivor "Thou Shalt Not Kill" is often taken at face value without context. A more appropriate translation is "Thou Shalt Not Murder" or "Thou Shalt Not Kill With Malice," which is how it's intended. As a Christian, you have every right to kill someone to protect yourself or others. The mortal sin would be killing someone for malicious reasons and/or enjoying the act. It would be more appropriate to say that you have every right to use whatever force is necessary to prevent someone with malicious intent, from harming another person - if this results in death, so be it. The laws - civil and political - around self defense, in a lot of cases, almost require lethal force to be used, because not only can one get sued by the criminal for hurting them, one can get prosecuted for improper procedural use of force or the minutae thereof (there was a case in Canada where a man was attacked on his property, and the Prosecutor accused him of hiding evidence because he used a revolver, and there were no brass casings on the ground afterwards, just as an example). _DISCLAIMERS:_ Your mileage may vary, I am not a lawyer/I am not an ordained religious leader, void where prohibited, prices higher in Alaska and Hawai'i, 8PM Eastern, 5PM Pacific, do not take while operating heavy machinery. Although I’ve seen this extremely disturbing video on other channels, this is by far the best presentation of that tragic day. While not being critical, John and friend do a superb job IMO of pointing out seemingly minor (and one major: do NOT stand in front of a door with a suspected or known, armed and violent offender inside, whatever building you -as LE - are at) changes that could make a major tactical difference. I make no claim to be an expert on LE use-of-force, proper procedure or tactics myself, but I can’t help but be reminded that this is at least the second time this year where officers lost their lives serving high-risk warrants while standing at a doorway. The Florida incident much earlier this year where two FBI agents were murdered serving a warrant on an armed purveyor of child filth. I wasn’t at this scene or Florida, but all reports I was able to read describing that awful day state that both Special Agents stood directly in front or near an ordinary door while trying to contact the wanted individual, before he opened fire, killing them both. The parallel with here seems apropos. Two tragedies. Preventable with different tactics? I don’t know. RIP to the fallen officer and best recovery wishes for all wounded. Those officers not physically injured are still victims. Imagine having to live through this, losing your Sergeant, friend, fellow member of the force.
