Funny story (depends on your since of humor) I had a buddy who is a firefighter in a city guy shoots and kills an ambulance crew cops shoot him they call EMS the first one shows up finds out what the guy did they "quit" on the spot second ambulance crew comes they aren't told ahead the first crew tells them they "quit" third bus shows up guy is DOA all of they don't get fired or disciplined as that's the majority of the city's EMS the dudes family tries to sue the city and is going good till they post about how the only good thing the dude did is kills some EMS worked so the family can get a big payday there pro bono lawyer quits and the judge scolds the family they end up owing money to paying a lawyer and the court costs to be told a city worker is not under liability to render aid to anyone not doing there job is a matter between employer and employee

@@MrMedalice potentially other reasons why they'd cut the clothing off, but searching for possible wounds is definitely a reason. As you heard, if you watched the whole video, the perp made it to a hospital and is/was in critical condition. Cops are trained, due to liability reasons, to render aid after apprehension, even if it's pretty much a wrap for the perp. In this instance, he might've been able to just pull off the shorts, but it's not easy when the body is dead weight just laying there. But if there were knives, razor blades, needles, whatever, it's a risk to the officer to just rifle around in fabric, and in this instance, time is of the essence. Giving you the benefit of a doubt that you're not just trolling, if you live in a country where cops don't carry a sidearm, maybe you shouldn't comment on something you clearly don't understand - even if it seems completely foreign in concept to you.

I can’t imagine the level of evil required to shoot EMT’s and Firefighters. This officer did not hesitate when switching into triage after securing the scene. not to excuse the perpetrator's actions, because nothing justifies murdering people, especially first responders. and the guy also had a length criminal history. but only a few months before, the shooter lost his mom in a house fire. he was severely burned trying to rescue her, with his mother dying in his arms. his fiancee said he had started suffering from mental breakdowns after that. also might explain his act of arson prior to his shooting spree. not to say there aren't evil people out there in the world, but usually an act this crazy always makes me think they're going thru some mental health episode.

No. Does the skin offer a fantastic barrier for disease? Yes. Is there a risk? Lol yea…but fresh out of a gun fight that’s the least of your concerns, especially as a cop. Another thing you should consider is looking into the video, the police officer in the video is a veteran. So when he looks down at his hands to check for cuts before he goes down to administer aid that is exactly what he is doing because he was trained in that same fashion. You can take TCCC as a civilian and get similar information. I would recommend it.

Because they have a duty of care. I got told off by a police officer when my son was a toddler and being naughty and I told him the policeman would put him in jail and he told me never to do that that kids should know that the police are there to help them and care for them if they're in trouble. I was humbled let me tell you.

I’m ultra impressed! Especially that in the middle of everything the officer functions with such class by trying to provide the shooter with respect and dignity. I’m assuming that was his goal when he asks several times to contain the area while he assess the shooter. He’s what a real hero looks like! I will always back the good blue and there are millions of them!

His intent was to put up barricades between himself and the other officers at the perps side. They were sitting ducks at that moment. Multiple 1st responders were shot at and there was still question at that moment as to if there were other shooters or just the one. While this officer was certainly very professional in his duties he was not at all concerned about the perps modesty or dignity. His concern was for the safety of everyone on scene. Super calm and professional in a very unsettling situation. Impressive.

In the amount of time it took him to whittle his way through those shorts, he could've yanked them down several times, then made coffee, then applied for his promotion. I know his brain was buzzing through procedure while staving off emotions, so it was probably therapeutic to focus on the shears for a minute. Well done, boss!
