I liked the game. The defenses were so good, thus the sloppy play in the first half. I liked that Alpi took it right to Chet. Reed looked good as point guard in the second half. I'm guessing Ime is trying to install a few new wrinkles in the offense. When the regular season starts I expect them to go through Alpi more often. If they want Jalen to shoot better, they might want to take ball handling from him and teach him to spot up to get passes for shots. I don't know why Udoka or Silas can't figure out how to use Jalen's skill set. He's a shooting guard. Just let him shoot. Keep it simple for him. I know Amen can play better at point guard. He had a triple double at the end of last season against the Clippers. Asking him to play different positions is not going to help him to achieve his ceiling at point guard. But you have Reed, so it doesn't matter.

A lot of the issues that Frank pointed about "immaturity" and "guys being selfish" at the start of the video is because of Alpi not getting paid even when he is clearly the best player. Get ready for chucking, not passing, unmotivated to move without the ball from the more immature guys of the team like Jalen throughout the season. This "cap hold" excuse to not pay your by far best player and arguably the best player in his class when multiple guys in his class have already been paid the rookie max will cause even more problems in the future. Not comparable to Maxey as he was not even close to being the best on his team and would never have ego since he had Embiid on the team, an establised MVP. Jalen on the other hand will keep pouting, throwing his arms up and not being motivated to play in the system and accept Alpi is the best player since they are both young and the franchise does not set the hierarchy by paying the guy who deserved it the most.

Not extenting sounds logical at first place but when you look at the free agency you'll realize it is so dry. Rockets realistic option is go for Dbook with Suns picks or any other superstar. I agree with you. Rockets can easily max alpi and move on but they never trust him. I am sorry but that's reality of situtation since he joined the team. They still don't know what they have in their hand. If Ime and Fvv didn't join last year, he be still waiting Jalen, Jabari, Cam iso's to touch the ball. I hope they'll understand that eventually.

It's because during offseason, the training of Jalen is the same year in year out, scoring NOT playmaking skill development. You can see these on youtube for the past 3 offseasons, he always just shooting and isolating. I want to see him in an offseason with 3 players and him designing plays for those 3 (which means him not taking the shots).
@codingstyle9480Ай бұрын
Jalen will never try to read the game at all with NBA coaches. He should go and learn that in Euro League. The coaches will teach him that part of the game. He has no idea about the structured basketball game. He thinks this game is at most a two-player game.

I like this video, from lack of offensive organization to immaturity of the players and everything to the point. Good thing is most these issues are coachable things and should be very apparent to the staff. It can only get better, but how fast it would happen depends on the kids maturing up.

I think for a first PS game, and as you say without FVV, a lack of cohesion is to be expected. Totally get the concern as that was an issue last year, so it’s worth keeping an eye on, but I wasn’t surprised it didn’t click and that would degenerate to isos. But I love the way you communicate basketball, man.

I could be wrong but I believe Silas tried that when Sengun first came into the league. Maybe it was the wagon wheel. It looked extremely high school. Anybody remember that?
@bigradwolf5001Ай бұрын
I've not seen Jalen cut the basket much. He likes looking at Sengun try to score when he low posts. Same with Jabari. Amen is the smart one who cuts whether he gets the ball or nut. He's just smart.
@BossNerdАй бұрын
It seemed to me that Amen was looking for something but it just was never there and he didn't have a second option in his point guard bag. He obviously isn't a point guard yet, I thought he had developed a bit more of the point guard mentality but it certainly wasn't on display in this game. Sengun is your best player and he should get the most touches, especially given the fact that he can be a hub and is not a black hole. Fred and Reed seem to be the only players that want to(or are capable of) getting him the ball. I've always wanted more movement(of bodies and the ball) on offense. The Rockets seem to be getting better at this but it is really taking them a long time to develop it. Maybe this is just Udoka taking it slow and making sure they get the defense down first - they ARE really young as a group. Maybe this is a sign that you can have too many young guys. If that is the case we need to be making trades sooner rather than later. If this continues I would pick out the 4 guys I want to keep and trade the rest, if not at mid-season, then during the next off season. In that scenario you might end up keeping Fred and Dillon and trading some of the younger guys. It is not what I envisioned but it has to be on the table if you find that you can't develop that many players at once. I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes but it is obvious that some players need more coaching than others - it might be a dis-service to some of these guys to be on a team where the attention of the coaching staff is so divided because of the age the team. Also, I am always a fan of a consistently clutch player - I really want to promote the nickname of "Hungry Jack"(Burger King downunder) for Jack McVeigh.
@bigradwolf5001Ай бұрын
We don't need trades..we just need to relegate a player off the bench or in G League to develop playmaking skills.

Sengun was the only starter against OKC that looked like he belonged, and you talked about him as if he played like Jalen and Amen. You were right on point. But we don't need to go far know what exactly the Rockets has to do on the offensive side; last night game was the perfect example. Just play like OKC...share the ball. We have the talent but that is the missing part of our game. On another hand, the way we played without Sengun last march is a good example too. We were running, attacking and sharing the ball. Finally. I was hoping you to mention the game of Amen last night as a PG. last season we came to discover how great Amen, when he started playing as a forward. Too many ppl as obsessed with him playing as a PG but I don't like that idea at all. He dosnt have a shot or handle and that make him look horrible out there, out of sync, lost. What do you think?
@bigradwolf5001Ай бұрын
It's simple, if transition, let Amen handle the ball. If inbounds, let Reed handle the ball.
@ROCKETSCHOPSHOPАй бұрын
For both points I think we will have to see how the season develops. I think Fred helps with the offensive structure but I hate having to rely on him. And the way they played last year in March as it was isn’t sustainable as we saw in April vs better competition.. we have to do what we did in March and still be able to execute in the half court, because good defenses and won’t let you score a lot in transition. To reach our heights they gotta be a well rounded team.
