What impressed me about Jalen is his defense. All of a sudden he has become a really good defender

He maintained all his progress on defense from last year and even stepped it up a bit. Kudos to Jalen for his hard work.

I agree with your point about why the offense is bad. I also think the Rockets don't have any 4 or 5 shooter lineups currently, which are becoming almost standard in the NBA now amongst the top offenses. Tari, Cam, and Amen aren't really shooters just yet. And we aren't really utilizing Alp like some rolling big man like Sabonis, or a point guard big man like Jokic, or a top of the key passer like Draymond with a bunch of off ball movement and catch and shoot opportunities. We are mostly using Alp with a few pick and rolls a game, but mostly posting him up. Unfortunately, with the way the offense is set up right now, he is looking more one dimensional over time as a post-up scorer, and his assisting capacity isn't really being utilized. Rockets need to make Sengun a real jokic/Sabonis hybrid where the offense revolves around him mostly and there are constantly 3-4 shooters around him. If they don't, the offense will always be worse and Jalen will have less room to slash.

When I was a basketball player, it was tough to play against guys that are 4 to 6 inches taller than me. Anybody that says just because Sengun is getting a near max contract, he should be able to handle these guys, is about as stupid as anybody that has ever made a comment anywhere. When Victor gets his next contract it is going to be way higher than Alpy's. The jury is out on Edey. He has only played 4 NBA games. Even Olajuwon had trouble with Mark Eaton.

1) Jalen is looking like he's finally figured it out. 2) Next time we play the spurs , Jalen needs to attack wemby with his speed and Al-P needs to bully him up down low. 3) That Jabari crossover was NICE.

Jabari Tari and Cam need to up there 3pt makes to unlock the offense so Sengun can be that hybrid top of the key passer or scorer. They need to study the GSW playbook. It also seems like Amen likes that corner 3 so we can have him there while cutting baseline for an occasional Sengun lob when bari is out the game.

Good that we got the W, but man there are some weird line ups still. There was a nasty line up that was FVV, Cam, Tari, Amen, Adams, and if they're not causing havoc on defense its really ugly on offense. That line up almost cost us the game. Jalen balling out right now, and more importantly we saw it come in clutch time. Would still like to see his 3 ball be a little more efficient, and make faster decisions on if he's going to drive or kick it out. I don't know how to explain it, but its like I can see in real time him making his decision. It's a small sample size, but man it's starting to be apparent that Ime and this staff need an offensive assistant coach. I wonder if its possible to pry Sam Cassell, Jordi Fernandez, or a David Adelman to complement Ime.

The Rockets don’t have enough quality outside shooting to play a half court style of basketball, with so many young, athletic players, this team should be pushing the ball up the court more often.

I think Bari will figure it out by the end of the season. I was disappointed in both are losses but I’ve seen growth after each loss. Jalen accepting and thriving as the #1 option, Al P will work through his rust, Bari’s slowly figuring out his role and what he needs to do. Amen and Tari look comfortable in their roles. Cam is going to find his shot and once Adams gets back up to speed I believe we should be ready to make some noise. We just need some patience. I also think that Reed should spend some time in the g league to get some reps, confidence, and used to the speed of the game.

Agreed on pecking order. This is Jalen, Sengun, and Amen's team. Love Cam but Jalen does a lot of stuff better than him and i see him more as a spark off the bench player. Love Jabari but his primary focus should be defending, rebounding and hitting open jumpers. Tari knows his role and Reed will figure it out
@jalenjohnson0339Ай бұрын
We do need an offensive coordinator because all we do is spam pick and roll with Jalen and Fred and go to Sengun one on one in the post those are our only options We need a coach that needs to be more creative on offense. Will Ime go out and get a coach like that. I don’t think he will he seems like a coach that’s like as long as we play good defense he ok that the offense is bad or average at best Defense is great but you can’t rely on that alone to win games we need to be at least an above average offense if we want to be a contender.

The Rockets are 2nd to last in FG% (40.7). Either they are not getting good shots or they are just bad shooters. Which is it?
@djmill8000Ай бұрын
For max players or nearly max players, it shouldn't matter who in front of you, you make the other team adjust. For the handful of Top Centers in the NBA, we dont say AD have a bad matchup or Embiid or Jokic, usually the other team have to make the adjustments to them.. The next game is against the Mavs, he will be almost unplayable if luka and kyrie goes hunting for him
@jus3278Ай бұрын
I like Sengun more than Embiid but I get your point. Jalen is a tougher cover
@djmill8000Ай бұрын
@@jus3278 the problem is most of the Centers who are playing 30 minutes or more are two way players that have the ability to either switch on multiple positions or be a detourence in the paint. Outside the exception of Jokic who's offensive output out weights his liability on defense. Embiid is more versatile both offensively and defensively than Sengun, giving coaches the ability to run more schemes with the same personnel making your offense or defense unpredictable.. This is why the offense appears to look better with Bari playing the 5, they become less predictable because of Bari's ability to be more versatile both offensively and defensively. AlP is a Draymond Green without the defense, who is a good playmaker, but if you already have a playmaker in Green, how much is Sengun playmaking worth? 180 mill???

I still for the life of me can not understand how yall thought Sengun deserved his contract more than Jalen. Sengun had one good year, he’s this generation Scola. Hopefully Jalen will be great

Sengun and that contract scares me. Ive been saying he not a max player and will continue to say it. Length and athleticism bothers him. He plays under the basket, he flops his arms if he thinks he is fouled, he flops when he should stand strong. The Joker is big and has length with a jumpshot thats why he can play under the rim. Sengun is not really a center. Adams is a blessing, and Jalen is showing yall who the real leader is

Yall came at Jalen ALL year for poor play. Sengun's clearly regressed this year & is already getting benched, yet you're talking about PATIENCE now? No. Our best player was and is Jalen Green. You were wrong about Jalen and also wrong about Rafael Stone. Stop making excuses for Alperen Sengun

I think you’re assessing Alperen too soon! If he’s still mediocre mid-way through the season then it’s probably time to look at him! It’s way too early for now to say he’s gotten worse!

Couldn't agree with you more . Seems like some of these podcasters aren't trying to loose the Turkish fan base, instead of being real with what is blatantly obvious.. Yet they dogged JG after every game last year.. idk if that's the case with Frank, he is usually straight down the middle, although him and Jackson does have a Sengun bias.. and these issues with ALP didn't just start after these 4 games, this had been ongoing since he got in the league, if you know basketball you would have seen this from jump
