Ordered a juniper bonsai, I'm in NYC and the light doesn't hit our apartment until 1-2 pm, I ordered a full spectrum uv light as well. Everything im reading regarding care, humidity, watering, heat etc any tips I'd greatly appreciate. I hear it should be kept outside at night and it'll be fine in colder temps. Our bedroom is very cool, usually no warner than 65. Anything else u recommend? Do I have to worry about mites? Homemade incesticide? Thank you sir.

What do you do when you’ve watered it too much? I’ve repotted and used soil for drought friendly plants (cactus). Couldn’t find bonsai soil and it was just soaked! So I repotted mixing in potting soil but I think the soil is still too wet.
@Admiral_Pumpout4 жыл бұрын
Phat Kat try mixing in something to make a free draining substrate. In the UK there is a cat litter made from molar clay that works really well. Also look at pumice, perlite, lava rock or akadama. Anything that makes it more mud like is generally considered a bad option as you can introduce nutrients via watering. A small amount of moss peat or bark chips, sieved, is ok. There are quite a lot of videos on bonsai soil, check out videos from Peter Chan at Herons Bonsai or videos by Bjorn Bjorholm (apologies Bjorn if I’ve spelled that wrong!) as they’ve both done videos on soil and Bjorn also has a podcast but he doesn’t update it often enough even tho he keeps promising to! Naughty Bjorn!
@HillTopRooted4 жыл бұрын
@@Admiral_Pumpout thank you so much for your reply. I've since given it a hair cut (at the behest of my mother who wouldnt stop nagging me that that was the cure). Any greenage that was left is now greenish brown. I will continue to spritz it daily and water it when it appears to need it, as if I know what that looks like! 🤣 I've named him Prickly! Thanks again!

If u watered too much, flip it upside down and let it drain. Or use a blow dryer. It's a lot of work for a dumb mistake u did!

the small pot actually helps help the tree stay small. it prevents the roots from getting too big that might make the tree grow too big.
