We live in a world that it's cheaper to replace than repair. To repair normal shoes is already more expensive to buy one and it's custom that repair to expensive items will also be quite expensive ( I mean, if the customer can buy 1k shoes and let the dog chew them, I'm sure they have quite a lot of money, so your prices can be very high; expert work is also expensive) It becomes a choice to repair rather than replace. Of you have good quality shoes and you like them a lot, do repair! It's good for the environment and it's anti-comsumerism ! I personally don't fully repair my shoes but paying for them to be glued or fix small holes the soles is a must do and things like these are an okay price in my area!

I needed this video a few years ago when my $500 Harley boots were scratched up by a cat. The only advice I got from local shoe repair people was, "just use shoe polish to polish it over." I knew there must be another way but I never found it until you. It's sadly too late now.

I'm surprised by the comments. People seem to be blown away by entry level skills. This was not some mind blowing repair. He didnt fill it right, didn't retexture it, and you can clearly see the paint lines. You could train a new guy to do this repair in a week to his level of quality.

I still see the denting where the filler didn't fill properly and, even though the color is correct, he didn't do anything to replicate the texture so it literally just looks like painted leather with little craters on each side. It's not a horrible restoration but its definitely not masterful.

@dreaming-of-spots6805

Depending on what happened to the leather and where the damage is, I would consider a dyed patch (if there's a hole/tear) instead, esp if it's on the part of the seat where your body's in regular contact. Paint will rub off real quick if it's on the part where you sit. If it's just some spots where the color has rubbed off completely on a dark leather, you can dab some oil on to make it a lot less noticeable (dab, not soak, either with a qtip for tiny spots or a rag or cotton ball for larger ones). Neatsfoot is my favorite for darkening things, it'll turn raw leather a lovely chocolate brown. Clean it before you oil it and then after, let it sit for a few hours before you drive (unless you don't mind a bit of oil on your clothes) though! (I'm not a leatherworker- I just work with horses and have cleaned + repaired a lot of horse tack.)

@@mi3helle707 so, in my humble and upper middle class opinion: There's really nothing wrong with liking wealth, or spending good money on a quality product. I mean like a good dependable automobile or well built home. *yet, some folks are really out there pretending that someone is going to literally approach a classy lady and demand that she hand over her handbag for a thorough and expert evaluation of the authenticity of the brand?!!* I've seen a LOT of good knockoffs, yet I have NEVER even once seen someone get embarrassed because they were "found out" by well placed, trained handbag inspectors at any good party or club. Not once. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂😂

@@d.cypher2920 Exactly, and some of the knockoffs cost the same amount as the REAL thing. I agree, I'm all for buying something that's worth it especially say a house. Clothes, hmmm no, happy to pay extra for good quality but not an extortionate amount.

@@mi3helle707 indeed. You know, when I was young...and like anyone else in 'insecure camp'... aka high school, I really didn't understand why my dad was so cheap, and frugal with his money. I remember when Air Jordans broke $100 a pair for the first time, my dad was just aghast at that!! Then, I became an adult and had my own children, and understood exactly why they were like that!! 😳😂 I must admit: *when it came to my children, I had 2...1 son, 1 daughter. I didn't spare much. I complained a lot, of course. But, I remember how brutal being a teenager was, and I didn't want them to have to worry about that kind ofi insecurity on top of all things teen.* So I just caved most often, and let them get what they wanted. I set a limited amount, and as long as they could get what they wanted within the budget I gave them, all good. I was pretty shocked by how expensive my daughter was, compared to my son though. Although, my son's martial arts interests probably evened out the expense. Nice chatting with you!! Take care! 🙏🇺🇸

Because you’re not the target market for high end products therefore you wouldn’t understand why people would buy these.l because we simply don’t have the money to do so. The target market for these products are rich people because rich people would spend more on luxury products because its a status sorta thing.
