As an autograph collector my first instinct at library / estate sales is to pick and quickly flip through the title pages of autobiographies and other nonfiction subjects that seem like they would be good if signed, and usually end up finding at least a couple fun ones. Love to see the old software big boxes from my youth! Great stuff Mike

Great Thomas Keller find. I found a Newman's Own Cookbook First Edition signed by Paul Newman the other day at the bins. No one else would have even looked at it, but I have a thing for cookbooks. Was a cool surprise to find the signature inside!

Hi Mike, Great video, as always. Wanted to share with you a true inspirational story from an Armenian athlete, Nazik Avdalyan. She is a world and European champion in weightlifting. After earning the world gold medal Nazik decided to push forward and go for Olympic gold. Unfortunately, she gets into a very bad car accident and damages her spine. Doctors tell her she can’t do sports anymore. But, against all odds she recovers, trains and earns her second gold as a European champion. This is a true story. And if Nazik could overcome the terrible and painful obstacles, many of us can too.

Mike, I started watching you a few years ago. After a few videos I stopped watching you just because you didn’t have any sourcing videos. I watched Kevin, two seperate ebay resellers who recently got together about a year ago , a hairy guy and his wife because I like their sourcing videos. Im not insulting you. I started watching you again about two years ago and have gone back and watchedxall your older videos. You have become one of my favorites now and now I do appreciate your different point of view on reselling. Ibdo like when you do your occasional bin of books videos. A store sourcing video in the future might be cool. Thanks for all your tips.

Hi, I’ve been enjoying your Golden State pickers series, sometimes I have a different opinion because my experience as a longtime buyer on eBay and then I became a seller so I knew what was an example of a good and a bad seller. I also knew from being a Buyer?, what a good and bad shipper was with shipping materials and how well they did and how promptly they shipped my item and followed through with feedback, etc. I only do eBay is a very part-time thing so my motivations and my timeframe are very different than yours. That’s said, I rolled with all of the changes over the past few years the new rules with eBay and so many different details that one has to keep in mind. Because the changes happened gradually I just learned them as I went so it’s not overwhelming for me, but I could imagine it would be for someone who is new at eBay selling. Maybe I’m doing it wrong but the time it takes for me to shoot photos examine an item right a really good item title on eBay and then to write a very detailed description especially that describes in great detail the condition of the item so that I don’t get any bad feedback Because people didn’t know about the condition details, but that takes a lot of time so I started figuring out and less an item can sell for at least $35. It’s not really worth my time and the fact that I ensure include free shipping as an incentive to get people to buy my items. Well, it’s just not very cost-effective. True, I might buy a rare book for $.50 that I can resell for $20 but it’s the time it takes to list it and checking frequently to see if I’ve had sales, if I get a sale of that book I need to reply quickly with a good feedback for The Buyer then I send the buyer a note letting them know that it will be shipped soon, then within a few hours, I’m sending the person another note to let them know that their package has been shipped, what the tracking number is and when they could possibly expect it to be arriving at their house or office. Yes, well that’s fine but all of that takes time. Then once it sells, I have to go down to the post office to sell it. Of course I could be more organized and have a shipping account and just set it out for the US Postal Service to pick up, the problem with that is it’s vulnerable to porch pirates and anyone who just opens random mailboxes to see what you have in there. They don’t really care if you’re shipping something Via Amazon or craigslist or eBay, people are going to grab up stuff out of your mailbox or off of your porch. I realize you probably have a different opinion of what is worth selling, but I can’t make part of my living based on a very slow trickle of sales and accepting people‘s best offer for some item that I have priced below what other sellers have it for. The one last related topic, many years ago I decided it took too much time to do eBay so I thought well. I will go to one of these eBay stores and sell my items on consignment. Well, the problem with that is that. These brick and mortar shop spaces where you could bring your items for them to sell, they didn’t want any item that was worth less than a $50 price tag on eBay. They had figured out it simply wasn’t cost-effective or a good return on investment for them to be representing a bunch of five dollar baseball cards and Seven dollar scratched Santana albums, etc. They were in it for the big bucks.
