We say that with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, combined arms mechanized warfare wasn't seen as a viable strategy for an entire military force to adopt and pursue. Combination only when necessary was the popular thought at the time, because organizing and coordinating completely different parts was seen as potentially catastrophic in the wrong circumstances.

In simplest of terms as to why France failed to stop the German Blitzkrieg… The French Top Brass during the Interwar period were still in the mindset of WWI Trench Warfare while a young Charles André Joseph Marie de Gaulle saw that any future would be mechanized war where the difference between victory or defeat would be governed by the Rapid Movement of Troops and equipment, as well as multiple coordinated mobile attacks that are happening all at once.

While the total numbers in the 1940 battle of France tended to favour the French the German’s attacked on a narrow front using overwhelming numbers against the defenders at that point ( Concentration of Force), with the French being unable to react quickly enough to reduce the odds.

@@strawberrydragon1 Had Maurice Gamelin not committed his only armoured reserve to the Netherlands, he could have used it to cut off the German spearhead on it's flanks, the Panzer divisions had advanced well ahead of the infantry and was vulnerable to counter attacks at one point.

During the Interwar - Early war Years the French were one of if not the most capable fighting force in Europe. The Soldiers themselves were well-trained and well-equipped. There are very compelling arguments that the French themselves had better tanks than the Germans themselves, it is just a shame that very few in the French High command saw the opportunity in combined arms warfare.

Sure, especially the years after WW1, after that governments cut funding and training of troops cause they were afraid the army would be too powerful and take over, making the ambitious plans to modernise the military to take decades and ultimately not be finished, keeping the same loyal but old and outdated generals also made a lot of harm Overall at the start of the war France wasn't ready at all

The reason why France fell was that the Germans attacked them quickly called blitzkreig the French were expecting it to be like WW1 but no the Germans had to use speed and attack to its advantage. While the French had more tanks and soldiers than the Germans they were poorly led and organized even though they stood strong at the Maginot line it was broken through its weak point in the Ardennes in Belgium but the Belgian army was struggling with the Germans as well even with the help of French and British forces.

The main purpose of the Maginot line was to deter a frontal attack from France>Germany. The French generals counted on her for the Germans to pass through Luxembourg and Belgium, but the French high officers ignored the Ardennes which they considered "impassable" despite warnings from several men in the field. Unfortunately, the n4zi sent only a small part to Belgium to divert attention and attack through the Ardennes. Despite several pieces of information informing a group of German troops on the other side of the Ardennes, they decided not to take this one into account because they did not think they would be able to pass the Ardennes forest... The biggest problem that France had was the generals... too old, with old strategy and old doctrine, not wanting to believe in modern warfare, not taking intelligence seriously, remaining stuck in 14/18 in a positional war.

There were many factors to consider and the most often mentioned is the idea that any German attack into France would lead to a repeat of WWI static trench warfare. One significant factor often overlooked was the involvement of the Soviet Union at this early stage of the war. The Soviets under Stalin were allied with Nazi Germany as both countries invaded and conquered Poland jointly. This unexpected alliance lead to the rapid defeat of Poland which greatly reduced the amount of time both Britain and France had to build up forces in the west and prepare to attack or invade Germany. It's also worth mentioning that fuel and food imports from the USSR to Germany is what made such a rapid mechanized invasion of France possible at that time. Germany later would try this same operation against US Forces in 1944 with better equipment but in the middle of one of the coldest winters on record and very little fuel and ammunition compared to their 1940 campaign. The results were less than stellar.

I've said this to @TheSavageNarwhal in his latest video that I'd like to see if it's Possible to Build Vehicles in Minecraft with these Mods and then use them to defend against a Village Raid, starting from Level 1 and then going up to Level 4 (The Highest Level), with a bunch of other Players wearing Dyed Leather Armor for the American Uniforms to go with the Vehicles. The Players will have 2 AAVP-7A1's and 2 or 3 LAV-25 "Piranha" to move around and Help defend the Village. Since the Players will have the Leather Armor Dyed to look like American Combat Uniforms, you'll need the Modern American Troops. And Since the Vehicles are being Built at 1.5:1 Scale, space will be very Cramped so the Player Capacity will likely be about two-thirds of what the Vehicles Actually Hold (14-16 Players per AAVP-7A1 and 4 Players per LAV-25) and you just barely might be able to get the Crew of 3 Players for each of the Vehicles. I'd like to see if you can find some way to Represent something like this in "Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - Gates of Hell". So the American Troops of the 1980's/Modern day against Whichever Troops closely function as the Pillagers from Minecraft. Pillagers/Illagers: • Pillagers: Uses a Crossbow and can sometimes drop an Enchanted Crossbow. • Vindicators: The ones who always have to "Axe" you a question (LMAO, yes that was Corny, I know). They use Axes and can use any from Wood all the way up to Diamond or Netherite. • Evokers: The Warlocks of the Pillagers, these guys can summon Alligator Jaws from the Ground if you get near to him as well as Spawn/Summon the Vex. They'll drop a Totem of Undying when Killed. • Vex: Tiny little "Fairies" that can Phase through Solid Blocks and will use Swords from Wood to Netherite. • The Witch: A mob that's been around since before the 1.14 "Village and Pillage" Update, they take part in Village Raids by Usually throwing Potions at the Player or the Pillagers. You can find them Dowsing the Pillagers with Speed or Regeneration Potions or if the Player gets to close, the Player gets some Poison Potions Splashed in his/her Face. Like all Pillagers, the Witch can also be seen riding on the Ravager in a Village Raid. • The Ravager: The Beast of Burden for the Pillagers, the Ravager is a Large and very Tanky boy. It has 5 times the Health of a Player (Players having 20 Health Points or 10 Hearts for a Reference) and Depending on what Difficulty level you've got the Game set to they can deal up to 5 Hearts (10 Points) of Damage for Hardcore Mode. They're best known for Breaking Leaf Blocks from Trees, Destroying your Crops and just causing absolute Mayhem in the midst of a Village Raid. The only Upside is that they usually start coming in at the Third Wave of a Village Raid. You will see Various Pillagers and Even Witches Riding them later on in the Raid, and that's when there's more Ravagers coming in. You can get a Saddle by Killing them though. And all pillagers, with exception to the Vex and the Witches, can drop an Emerald upon death. Further Information about the Village Raids can be Found on the Minecraft Wiki and Fandom Pages if you need to do some more Research. Like I said before, I'd like to see if there's a way to Represent this in "Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - Gates of Hell" since I don't think that there is a Minecraft Mod for "Men of War: Assault Squad 2" so do what you can if you're up for just how bad things may go! Let me know what you think about this man and I'll catch you in your next video! I spent about an hour typing this up in case anyone is wondering, and I do have another idea this time for the Stormworks: Build and Rescue Community using the Search and Destroy DLC (Aka The Weapons DLC) and the Industrial Frontier Expansion DLC if you're interested in hearing about that. That's not true, the french army expected the same german attack than in 1914 and moved the best divisions in belgium acordingly. Germans had planed to do what the french army expected yet their plans were captured and they decided to change hence their passing through the Arden.

Aside of outdated warfare tactics (they still relied in WWI tactics with lots of infantry troops in trenches with little to almost none tank help (also most of them were built in early interwar period, few french tank models could match german tanks in terms of speed, protection and firepower)) there was a rift in french top brass (generals such Weygand and Gamelin against generals such Georges and de Gaulle which wants more agile warfare using tank-airplane tactics. Unfortunately that association arrived very late and in few numbers to avoid defeat) The key of German´s Blitzkrieg aside of Guderian´s and Rommel´s tactics was to ignore Versailles Treaty starting to build an more sophisticated army which can outclass rivals.

It was a number of factors,yes the French had a slight advantage in Soldiers and Tanks and almost even with their Air Force, Germans had an advantage in their soldiers in training,tactics and esprit de corp, revenge for the loss in 1918,the French soldier was not up to par in fighting spirits than the Germans, also Germans new and improved tactics, combined arms with infantry,armor and mech, not so with the French, stuck with 1918 tactics where their tanks, some like the Char B1 superior than anything the Germans had ( check out the battle of Stonne where a single Char B1 destroyed about 2 dozen Panzers) were designed for more Anti Infantry Defence than tank vs tank,also not organized in Armored Divisions like the Germans but Battalion size units mostly unsupported by infantry, French had no real Mech Infantry compared to the Germans,soft skin trucks.Half the French Armies were placed behind or near the Maginot Line, when the Germans broke threw the Ardennes they rolled up quick around the entire French forces rear, mass panic French left heavy guns and even many of their tanks like the Char B1. to get out before they were encircled. The majority of French Generals and entire General Staff had 1918 tactics in mind.Also the French President and politicians were extremely corrupt with Communist infiltration within the Government which effected the French War Plan and how to Counter Attack if the Germans attacked. Just recently discovered documents suggest that the French High Command had many spies within its organization working for the Germans. Seems Hitler and the German Generals had very accurate information showing almost every French units disposition ,total strenght,men,tanks,guns supply,commanding officers etc along the entire Western Front. You add that all up with the extremely weak BEF Force the British sent and also further making it more worse when the French High Command refused to hear and acknowledge any British battle plans ( The French Generals didn,t like the British taking all the credit for beating the Germans in WW1) pretty much doomed France in 1940.
