Decades ago, Kris Hansen showed 3M that its PFAS chemicals were in people’s bodies. Her bosses halted her work. As the EPA now forces the removal of the chemicals from drinking water, she wrestles with the secrets that 3M kept from her and the world.

All they're getting is a slap on the wrist. Watching the interview Katie Couric did with one of the lawyers where he said, “our goal isn’t to bankrupt them” made me so angry. Really? I get that as a monopoly 3m provides a lot, but what happened to competition? I feel like people who knowingly poison the population should be locked up & pay equally for the damage they caused.

No amount of convenience that 3M has offered us with their products is worth this disaster. I live in Michigan, and PFAS has ruined this otherwise beautiful state. 3M needs to pay for ALL cleanup efforts and efforts to counteract the effects of this toxicity.

300+ pesticides are allowed in 90% of agriculture in Europe probably many more in US. Europe has banned around 1500 dangerous compounds in beauty/hygiene products since 1990ish, US has banned 2. Not 2 thousand, 2. Ecological products only allow a few but 30% of them are reported to be crosscontaminated because the farmer next to him is using the normal pesticides that are not allowed in ecological. It’s a deep fucking rabbit hole that you can spend a whole night researching and just scratching the surface.

Pork and chicken producers just spray feces on fields waiting for rain to wash it downstream. That's why we have dead zones in the gulf of Mexico. Why human waste has to be treated before it is released into the ground but pig waste does not is ridiculous. $$$ for sure.

It's sad but true: even baking parchment paper that says 'non-stick' has PFAS or some other chemical that can and does outgas and/or leave a residue on foods you bake with it. All non-stick culinary products for baking manufacturers: listen up! The consumer wants these items without a coating of any kind! As an example, I have a vintage waffle maker from the 1950's that works beautifully. All that has to be done is heat it up, brush butter(real butter!)pour the batter and within a very short time: perfect waffles. Guess WHY it works? It heats up to a much higher temperature than anything on the market now which has any type of non-stick coating! Yes, I know it uses more electricity, but we only use it a few times per year as a treat. PS: 'Had parrots and we knew never to have them in the kitchen around anything 'non-stick' why? The fluorine in PFAS becomes an invisible, odorless gas that is uniquely deadly to parrots in very small amounts when heated to cooking temperatures. We have not had any non-stick pots or pans since when I was a kid in 1970's with the Teflon scare and know a pot or pan on a burner always exceeds 450 degrees. I do know ALL commercial baked goods and most pastas are made using non-stick products for speed, but can we go back to the older ways? Anyone remember the 'slow food movement'? It's mostly only done at home, tou can find videos about it. Anyway, 'just my 2 cents.

If you've gotten your blood tested and you have excessive amounts in your blood the only way to get rid of it is to get it phlebotomized. You go to a phlebotomist and have them draw blood and dump it. You do this a little at a time over months. Do this with a functional or integrated medicine doctor. You'll need to get your water filtered after that as well as stay away from the major sources of PFAS. If you deal with PFAS a lot at your job (if you're a firefighter etc ) get a desk job.

Scientists need to demonstrate the causal link between PFAS and people getting cancer. Then, the lawsuits can begin. My experience with corporations is that they'll more often than not choose money over safety and not change course unless there is a substantial monetary consequence. They think in money.
