With that bag that was drawn on with a pen I'm 100% sure that if Chanel released a collaboration with some cool "independent" artist that would draw exactly the same thing it would sell out and people would love it.

Is it even worth restoring these? The labour's cost will probably be the same as buying a new one unless it's not longer available

You can see why many items are expensive to begin with, because good shoes can last a lifetime if looked after and "serviced" on a regular basis. Also arent we lucky to have such skilled people who really are artists at what they do. You can see the love, care and skill that goes into every item that he restores. Another poster mentioned that a list of the items used in these restorations would be very helpful, and encourage people to learn and "have a go" themselves ?

What i find most mind blowing is that there is a market for $800+ shoes. I understand maybe paying 500 for a decent winter jacket but this makes no sense.

Yeah, and I thought that it's good to do that? Instead of throwing it away they're repairing it to use for years to come? It's a good attitude to buy a higher quality item and repair it when needed instead of buying cheap things that get thrown in the trash immediately when they get any kind of wear.

There is a HUGE difference between a spanking and a beating. I don't condone either, and have never spanked my children but they have grown up in a different age than I did. I got spankings and I deserved every one of them and I had the greatest parents in the world. That was the way it was back then.

so lets get it straight... 1st buy an expensive ridiculous-looking product for its large logo... and if it gets old or damaged, spend even more money to make it look even more heinous... and here I thought, spending money on restoring art was ridiculous...
@laneatkinson6441
@laneatkinson6441 Жыл бұрын
Why would you think it's ridiculous to spend money to repair things, especially art?? 🤔 I don't buy designer items, but it's clear that these people love these items, use them, and want to continue to use them for years to come. This is a more sustainable practice than just throwing something away any time a minor flaw develops.
@arun_kumar0
@arun_kumar0 Жыл бұрын
@@laneatkinson6441 i agree... but can you please look carefully and tell me, you cant tell the difference between a new product and a repaired one?? You can see it was repaired, but due to the camera quality, and editing it looks arguably beautiful... but when you see the product in real life, you can clearly tell the difference... these products have its value till they look brand new... once it gets old, you either throw it away or recycle it... a repaired product will make you look cheap... and you don't want people to say you are cheap... right? and people who spends 10grand on a bag, can easily affort another one... they don't care about product, they care about the logo and their status... these people might have an amazing hand, but after the repair, the product will look repaired...

@@ShayanGivehchian people who can affort a gucci bag, do you really thing they will have any kind of sentiments attached to it? they don't buy a bag, they buy a brand... and people will never get attached to a brand... have you seen balenciaga's homeless product catalogue or new balance's muddy shoes... that itself costs a fortune... it literally looks like they stoled it from a homeless guy... what will you repair when a brand new product looks like they are from 5th century and was found during an archeological digging... and people having sentimental value to it will be like 1 in a 10000... these rich brats don't care about how they look when there is a huge logo slapped on that product.
